before >9000 times, but that scrying sensor in the desert was green.

I can only think of two existing characters with green magic.

Roy's dad and the Oracle.

Now, Roy's dad had a lighter green, probably because he's always ethereal, so between the two, I'd bet on the Oracle.

So, who's asking the Oracle? Might be Xykon since he probably needs help finding his phylactery. The Oracle might be working for Tiamat since V went super saiyan on so many black dragons.

Thoughts?

Well, my first thought is this: why did that scrying sensor have to belong to an existing character? I think it's more likely it WASN'T an existing character and that this is another of the "nine sides" making their presence felt.

I think it was probably one of the members of Girad's organization scrying the place, since Girad said he would know once the place was visited and the scrying-thingie only showed up right after.

I doubt the oracle relies on scrying to gain information.

As you found out already, the existing characters who cast green do not really fit so it's likely it was cast by a not-yet-seen character.

I always assumed it was Girard himself, but his magic is pink. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0277.html) Having said that, IIRC in SoD
Dorukan's magic was white, while it is yellow here
So maybe magical colours evolve over time.

There's also the guy in panel 11 from this comic (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0357.html). He even has a tattoo similar to Girard's.

Coincidence?

Well, yeah, probably. Just saying that it could be anybody, and is likely a new character.

I agree. I think it was a member of Girard's gang we haven't met yet

Well, SoD did have a limited colour palette. :smalltongue:

Nice find!

Although there is a theory (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8940160#post8940160) that it's Tarquin

There's only a limited number of colors out there and Rich is bound to repeat colors for magical auras. It could be a character we've yet to met.

You missed somebody else that has green magic. Obviously it's the Green Lantern. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0359.html)

His banned schools of magic are yellow magic.

Girard's magic looks more purple to me. Vaarsuvius is pink.

Also, Dokuran's magic was white[ish] in SoD because it was printed in black and white. I'm sure that if it was printed in color, it would be yellow.

Yup- a pic of Xykon battling Dorukan:

http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0196.html

shows yellow magic. Same scene as in SoD.

Except, you know, with color.

well, yes. The point being, that had the SoD scene been in colour, that pic implies that the magic would have been yellow- since it's pretty much the same scene only in the main comic, in flashback.
