I'm updating the pattern master class from the 3.0 Hyperconscious book to 3.5, and to take advantage of the new expanded psionic tattoo rules introduced in The Mind's Eye (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20031225a) and updated to 3.5 here (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=4319.0).

Requirements
To qualify to be a pattern master, a character must fulfill the following criteria.
Concentration: 8 ranks
Craft (Tattooing): 4 ranks
Feats: Scribe Tattoo
Manifesting: Ability to manifest at least two 2nd-level powers

Hit Die: d4

Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Intelligence modifier

Class Skills: Concentration, Craft, Knowledge(all), Profession, Forgery, and Psicraft

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Pattern masters gain no additional
proficiency in any weapon or armor.

Powers Known: At every level indicated on the table for the prestige class, the character gains new power points per day and access to discovered powers as if he had also gained a level in the psionic class he belonged to before adding the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained (such as bonus feats, metapsionic or item creation feats, mode check bonuses, hit points beyond those he receives from the prestige class, psicrystal special abilities, and so on). The character does gain an increased effective level of psionic manifestation and additional power points. If a character had more than one psionic class before becoming a member of this prestige class, he must decide to which class he adds the new level for purposes of determining effective manifester level.

Free capacitor: At 1st level a pattern master gains a capacitor tattoo that does not take up any tattoo slots, and cannot be destroyed. Tattoos can be joined or separated from this capacitor at the cost of 1 power point. Relays can be attached to it. Newly scribed tattoos can be attached to it for free, provided it is not already attached to another tattoo or relay. It otherwise functions as a normal capacitor tattoo.

Mind Activation: Starting at 2nd level, the character can activate his psionic tattoos with a swift action instead of a tap. He can mentally activate only one psionic tattoo per round in this fashion.

Virgin canvas: Starting at 3rd level, a pattern master gains additional tattoo slots. He gains 4 bonus tattoo slots at level 3, and an additional 2 slots at every level thereafter, except level 10. At level 10 he gains an additional 4 tattoo slots instead of 2.

Hidden tattoos: Starting at 4th level, the tattoos master gains the power Hide Tattoos as a psi-like ability that can be used at will. He can also have tattoos he crafts be hidden, but they become unhidden after a number of days equal to this pattern master level divided by two, rounded down, or sooner if the pattern master so chooses.

Extend Tattoo: The pattern master can extend the duration of powers stored in a tattoo starting at 5th level. Effectively, he gains the Extend Power metapsionic feat, but only in conjunction with scribing tattoos. All the rules that apply to using Extend Power also apply to extended tattoos. However, extended tattoos do not cost more power to scribe, and they do not count toward the metapsionic power point limit when manifesting a power. They do take up one more psionic tattoo slot than normal.

Arrange tattoos: At 6th level, a pattern master can change the configuration of the tattoos on his body, as if he had an Integrated Circuit tattoo. He can also perform the same actions on others, as if they had an Integrated Circuit tattoo. Power points still must be spent.

Tattoo storage: Starting at 6th level, a pattern master may render some tattoos on his body inert. These tattoos do not count towards his slot total, but they can not be activated either. He can render up to his pattern master class levels worth of tattoos inert. So long as he has enough available slots, an inert tattoo can be awakened by spending a single power point. An inert tattoo is also awakened if transferred to another creature. Tattoos that cannot normally be transferred can be transferred in this manner.

Quick tattoo: At 7th level, once per day a pattern master can scribe a tattoo as a full-round action that provokes attacks of opportunity. All costs must still be paid, this ability only affects the time it takes to scribe a tattoo. This increases to twice per day at 10th level.

Tattoo Awareness: An 8th level Pattern Master is aware of all psionic tattoos that are within a 20' radius of him.

Steal tattoo: Once per day an 8th level or higher Pattern Master may make a melee touch attack on a being; success means that 1d4 or less psionic tattoos of the pattern master's choice automatically transfer to his body. If these tattoos put him over his psionic tattoo slot limit, he has rounds equal to the die roll to activate or transfer enough tattoos to bring his total slot amount back to the limit. At the end of the last round, if there are still too many tattoos, then the extra are rendered inert, and disappear.

Blood relay: At ninth level, a pattern master's blood is starting to attain inkish qualities. He becomes able to connect the tattoos on his body without the need for Relay tattoos. The pattern master may treat any of his tattoos as being linked in a relay. Essentially, this power grants as many free relay tattoos as the pattern master chooses, affecting those tattoos on his own body only. Power points must still be spent to attach and remove tattoos from these free relays, however.

Free circuit breaker: At ninth level, a pattern master's body resists outside change to its tattoos. He is treated as effectively always having a Circuit Breaker tattoo. It still costs 3 power points to reset the circuit.

Exude ink: At tenth level a pattern master gains the ability to produce the ink he needs for tattoos from his own body. This ink replicates any type of ink needed to scribe his tattoos. He can produce 12000gp worth of ink once per week, any ink remaining can be stored in his body for a week, but any remainder is lost when this ability is used again. Ink produced from this ability can only be used for tattoos scribed on the pattern master's body.

Edit: completed.

Virgin Canvas is a bit of a massive jump. I think it would be cleaner if you spread it out, maybe something like an extra 2 slots per class level starting at level 2 and bump the ability to activate tattoos as a swift action to level 9?

I thought Virgin Canvas was a big jump myself, that's just how it was laid out in the original class writeup. Spreading it out might be a better idea. I don't think mind activation is powerful enough for a level 9 power, however, since its effect can be emulated with a Mental Tap tattoo, or an Inducer tattoo.

Hmmm, what if I replaced the bonus feat with a Virgin Canvas ability that adds 4 tattoo slots at level 3, 2 for every following level except level 10 which gets 4 again?

Spread out virgin canvas over the levels and came up with a 10th level ability. The idea of a tattooist who has worked with tattoos so much his very blood has taken on inkish qualities is appealing to me. Now I need to come up with a ninth level ability. Perhaps something that enables him to make a couple of tattoos a week that take up one less slot?

Finished the PrC, unless any suggestions change my mind.
