I'm playing in a really great campain made by a good friend of mine and I'm having problems with my build ^^

It's not a very optimized campain, so please no cheese.

The only books I'm allowed to use are PHB and CMage for classes and feats... I know, not quite many options... But at least I may use all spells no matter which book they appeared in.

I'm currently a Warmage1/Focused Specialised Conjurer3/Master specialist 2 .
I banned evokation, enchantment and necromancy. (The Warmage is in there because we started the campain with our characters at age 8 and got the first class chosen by the DM according to our actions, but his spells are based of Int and Warmage Edge is based of Cha.)

My feats are spell focus(conjuration), augment summoning, incorporeal spell aim, combat casting, combat familiar, cloudy conjuration and the bonus feats from Mage and Master specialist. I also got some Martial Profiencies and two of those feats for free because of the actions of my character in the past

My stats are:
Str 19
Dex 16
Con 19
Int 22
Wis 19
Cha 12
I know, really high, that's because of some homebrew rules of the DM.

The other two players are a Cleric and some kind of Ranger/Rouge.

I'm thinking of heading into Ultimate Magus to make use of this Warmage level and maybe get one level of Nightmare Spinner for more bonus spells.

What do you think?

You say Complete Mage only...yet you have a Warmage level? Warmage is in CArcane.

Honestly, I'd drop that level and UM. UM, when done right, is probably pushing a little further into the spectrum of power than you are looking for. I'd go straight up Conjourer3/MasterSpecialist10/Archmage5/Conjourer+2 or something. Its relatively simple, and much more straight forward.

Do you actually have Complete Arcane? Because if you do, you can do some fun things at low levels with Sculpt Spell + Metamagic School Focus. Sculpted Grease and Glitterdust are particularly fun to mess around with, moreso if you have Cloudy Conjouration.

So yea...Do you have CArcane? You said you don't, but your post indicates otherwise.

He can't drop the level, it's mandated by some weird houserule.

I have CArcane but I'm not allowed to use it, by some houserule like Caphi said.
The Warmage level can't be retrained, it was given to me by the DM, this is why it's neither from the CMage nor the PHB, but now I'm stuck to these two books, so no Archmage or Sculpt Spell for me :smalleek:

I wonder if Abjurant Champion would be of any use to you.

You already have most of the entry requirements it seems like.

Given the constraints of the campaign, your build is pretty solid. Stick with master specialist. I wouldn't try to redeem the warmage level -- just chalk it up as a loss and move on. Can you retrain any of your existing feats? There are better options available for you. Get yourself some good metamagic feats, like Empower and Extend, and consider feats like Residual Magic and Metamagic School Focus to make them work better. Talk with your DM about what you can reasonably do with lesser planar binding, once you have access to that spell. It's powerful, but easily abused, so you should work with him to find what his comfort level is on that spell. Make sure you pick up dimensional anchor and magic circle against evil so you can use the planar binding series to best effect.

Also, unless the ranger is female, tell him to stop wearing rouge.

Okay, thank you
I'll talk to the DM about the retraining.

Maybe I get some levels of Abjurant Champion. Seems like a good choice with Luminous Armor, if I can get my hands on that spell.

Yeah, sorry, mispelled it ^^ But yes, the ranger is female

You might still try convincing the dm of archmage being in the dmg. Was thinking about practiced spell caster but that's in complete arcane. I'll echo the sentiments that master specialist is the best way for you to go within your constraints.

Also, unless the ranger is female, tell him to stop wearing rouge. Now now, he might look quite fetching for all we know.

Yeah, since you can't get practiced spellcaster, just consider warmage as a dead level, and take your master specialist all the way out. If you don't want to wait for major esotirica, I'd look into Abjurant champion. I'm assuming you can take DMG. If that's true, and you like the gish, you*could* take eldritch knight, but that'll lose you another caster level (and you already lost one).

Unfortunately the DMG is out, like so many other good books ^^
Guess the Warmage level is really like a sunk cost, just ignore it and go on

Well, I didn't throw a fireball but I "took wizard classes" and dabbled a bit with weapons, not enough for becoming a Duskblade but that's how I got that Warmage level.
