Divine Ward + Chain Spell ?

When using the Divine Ward feat to target an ally with a touch spell at close range... would one be allowed to apply the Chain Spell metamagic feat to that spell? ...and have it affect multiple targets around that ally?

Going by the wording of the feat I'd say no. It says

If you target the warded creature, and only the warded creature.

That seems to me to exclude the use of any means to increase the number of targets, including Chain Spell.
