Prelude : Legend of the Silver skeleton (WoTC free pre-written adventure)

Centuries ago, dwarven workers constructed a massive
underground aqueduct, linking a distant mountain lake
to their temple in a distant city. Their aqueduct
complete, the dwarves built a monastery at the lake
where their most elderly workers retired; as it turned
out, this location proved a most dangerous choice, as
the dwarves faced constant raiding by local stone
giants—that is, until a dwarven cleric managed to
convert one stone giant to their cause.

The stone giant, taking the mantle Sonnlinor
Stoneheart, dedicated himself to defending the mountain
temple—even in the face of a far greater threat, that
of a blue dragon awakened to the scent of the temple’s
rich tribute. Sonnlinor Stoneheart sacrificed himself in
the dragon’s attack, pulling the mountainside atop them
both. Yet such became the legend of his actions that the
stone giant was sainted and his remains recovered as
holy reliquaries. These reliquaries, a piece of the stone
giant’s bone and his largest throwing rock, were taken
down the mountain and incorporated into a local hostel.
As far as Sonnlinor Stoneheart’s legend spread, so
folks came to marvel at the healing powers of his reliquaries
(and enjoy the hostel’s unusual run of good
beer).

You arrive on the steps of the famous hostel of the Sacred stone, within which saint sonnliors reliquaries are kept. Having heard rumours of the powerful healing effects of the holy relic (and of the fine ale on sale there), you have decided that it would make an ideal homebase from which to investigate the aquaduct or search for the mysterious silver skeleton apperation that appears suspended motionlessly in the air deep within its ancient halls.

Ordo arrives, walking up the steps slowly, he is dressed in a simple linen loincloth, rope belt and sandals. His shaved head glistens some in the morning sun, and he looks the building over with steel grey eyes. A soft golden glow around (Nimbus of Light, Exalted) him as he approaches the doors, raising his hand to knock.

With just a few strides and the assistance of a rustic wood staff, Ti'kcha ascends the steps following a mere couple of feet behind Ordo; sticking close so that the thri-kreen could read during the journey without becoming separated or walking into anything, while his steady glow also served to illuminate the pages of a dwarven study on medicine plus the occasional romance novella. Any texts that aren't being read are kept in a large satchel slung over one shoulder, under a voluminous sand-coloured cloak. A single yet almost totally concealing garment, worn despite her species' usual apathy toward clothes purely for the benefit of less knowledgeable and/or tolerant individuals.

Upon following Ordo into the hostel's taproom, Ti'kcha wanders off and settles down on a stool at the bar. Within moments a bookmark had been slipped into the medical tome which was placed on the bar alongside several blank sheets of parchment (after ensuring the surface was dry using her cloak) and the thri-kreen began talking with any sufficiently coherent patrons who approached. Although primarily gathering information on the curiosities that had brought her group here, Ti'kcha takes this opportunity to start learning the dwarven language while also taking notes on any other interesting knowledge the patrons share, until the once blank sheets begin to look more like pages torn from a textbook.
"Excuse me," she calls politely to the barkeep. "Are animals permitted here?"

The young Xeph has already made his way into the Sacred Stone. He remains silent. Having made an acceptable introduction with the host, he sees no reason to speak another word. Though he is eager to witness all of the sights the building has to offer, he believes it to be polite to first wait for his companions to arrive. Instead, he is busy checking through his toolkit to see that everything is in order.

By the time the other travelers have arrived, he is absorbed in the most minute details of his tools. It takes him a moment to shift his focus away from them and recognize their arrival. It hardly takes him a moment for him to put everything back in its rightful place and get up, already commenting on the quality of their current environs.

Ordo looks about the room, taking in the details, as he finds an empty seat near the back corner, sitting where he can watch the room, and listen to the buzz of conversation, trying to see what rumors may be flowing about, and how the locals react to himself and the two other more exotic adventurers.

along side the thri-kreen stands a young looking human with somewhat rounded features and a large frame, the portly man, adorned in a purple greatcoat and a white shirt, which compliments his black trowsers and boots, is slowly paging through the contents of a large, purple leather bound tome, upon the cover of which is emblazened a stylized rune of an eye, the corners of which branch off like tentacles and are coiled at the end, his long, his hair shifting slightly in the cool nights wind, looking up from his book only once he has reached the hostel, he deposits the tome in his backpack and enters into the hostel, having to bow his head lightly as he steps into the tavern, holding the door for ti'kcha, whom he has affectionately nicknamed "ti'ki"

All :As you enter the hostel of the sacred stone you find yourselves in a thin but high corridor, to the left is the taproom (which as kyazu has discovered) is built to accomodate dwarves, though you can see many other races sitting slightly hunched and enjoying various drinks from large pewter tankards.

Ordo:you hear a few people talking about how "Eludica" is yet to return from her pilgrimage to the shrine in the local aqueduct but other than that, you hear nothing of note as most of the patrons are too drunk to relate intelligable words let alone things of intrest. you notice that the thri-kreen attracts some attention, there is an overall air of indifferance towards you, as there have been and currently are many many diffrent and strange beings in the hostel, for various reasons. amazingly this includes several members of races whom are usualy highly antagonistic towards each other at the same table.

Ti'kcha: the patrons whom you speak to tell you of the various rumours about the apperation of the silver skeleton appearing in the nearby aqueduct, that it bears skeletal wings and appears suspended in mid air. they also mention a few rumours of a string of high profile thefts that have occured in a far away city (the name escapes them).

the dwarven Owner responds to your Query with "i let this lot in didnt i ?" with a jolly tone, as he hoists a tankard "though yerl have to clean up afterit yerself....say arnt you a druid ?" he looks somewhat intrigued for a moment, and then beckons you over.

Kyazu: the hostel owner is a loud and boisterous dwarf with a friendly demenour and a firm handshake, as you discoverd when he seized your hand and shook it vigorously.

there is much to see in this cultural melting pot, one or two other xephs wave to you from across the room. dwarves at various tables are adding and mixing exotic substances into there drinks, bards of all races are playing there instruments and practising there songs, some even offer to play for you if you will stand them a drink.

Ordo looks about, trying to slip closer to the crowds talking about Eludica's pilgrimage. Ordo as an ascetic* carries no money, nor does he need to eat or drink, so needs nothing at the bar, so he stands near the wall, relaxing and leaning back against it some... (7 spot roll, 15 Listen)

Ordo stand unnaturally still, holding his position as if he were a carved statue, the only real motions noticed a shallow breathing and the shift of his eyes as he takes in the room.

Edit for correct word *

"Druid? Unusual suggestion..." The thri-kreen muses with a curious click of her mandibles. Glancing downward, a third arm unfurls from beneath that spacious cloak and delicately deposits on to the bar a ball of golden fluff, which itself then stretches out into a tiny, rather sleepy-looking leopard cub. "Once. Perhaps. Though have been known to dabble. Ah, water for my friend please."
With two hands clasped together under her chitinous chin and the third scritching behind the cub's ears, Ti'kcha leans in across the bar to better converse with this particularly busy dwarf. "In need of services then? Could possibly have use for...enthusiastic amateur?" (sense motive 13)
