What are the rules for Stances and where can I find it? I tried looking through PHB 1 and 2 but to no avail.

Stances are a ToB mechanic. (Tome of Battle) Try looking there.

In 4e, "Stances" are a type of action which persists until the end of the Encounter or until another Stance is used. They're described in the PHB.

In case your question was about D&D 4E, the stance keyword is detailed on page 55 of the Player's Handbook.

Sorry, I'm looking for the 4E mechanic, I forgot to add that into the question.

That can be solved by editing the title. And maybe putting "answered" into the title as well.

Oh ok, thanks, but do you know which PHB?

For the sake of completeness, the detailed description of the stance keyword can be found in the following places:

Player's Handbook, page 55
Player's Handbook 2, page 220
Player's Handbook 3, page 218
