I really really hate "The Flaming Lips" and yet, when I listen to it, it makes me really happy. What?
Does anyone else have something like this?

No, not really. Generally my definition of "music I hate" is "this makes me less happy." YOur problem might just be that The Flaming Lips are a bajillion years old and have half a bajillion albums, and if you hate Embryonic or Soft Bulletin that doesn't make Yoshimi... an album you necessarily have to dislike.
