Mine has got to be #435 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0435.html), if only for panel 11. Seriously, that is the funniest thing Rich has written in the comic to date.

Some of my favorites were "up a level, down a level". How much crap do we go through on a daily basis because the people at TSR forgot to look "level" up in the thesaurus?

Also, brief and to the point. I mean, who can get anything really meaningful said in 25 freakin words?

And finally, #657. You know what does equal power? Power. Power equals power.

You just said strip. You never specified OOTS:smalltongue:That's a fairly weak argument, actually.

It's entirely implied by the specific forum subcategory: Comics -> The Order of the Stick. Anything else would be, by definition, off topic.

Had the thread been made inside the more general forum subcategory Comics -> Webcomics, your argument could have had a lot more weight.

Just IMO, of course.

Already used once, but: "Mr. Stiffly! MR. STIFFLY! O-CHUL!"

I literally shed a tear just typing that.

Going on the start-of-thread snark, though, my favorite "strip" ever (that doesn't involve posting links to a certain porn video) is the 8-Bit Theater with this exchange:

Red Mage: Hey, Black Mage, what makes your Hadoken work, anyway?

Black Mage: Promise not to tell anyone?

RM: For the purposes of this conversation, yes, I do.

BM: Love.

RM: Love.

BM: Love is a very powerful force. Even more so when it's focused into a coherent beam of destruction. Every time I cast Hadoken, it siphons away some of the love in the universe. I'm not sure how much, but I'm given to understand the divorce rate goes up with each blast.

RM: ...

BM: What!

Edit: Oops, it was Red Mage. Link (http://www.nuklearpower.com/2004/11/27/8-bit-chronicles-3-of-3/).

My favorite is easily http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0009.html

I was reading the archives at one point, and happened to come across this.

As I seem to recall that Rich Burlew once said he did not originally intend for the gender of Vaarsuvius to be ambigous, it seems to tell us a great deal.

It -could- be interpreted as a simple case of Roy being mistaken on V's gender, or just using a commonly used abbreviation... but the abbreviation explanation is extremely weak, since he's never since said that. And the "thinks V is a male but doesn't know" one is also weak, since he later acts as though he doesn't know.

So it's my favorite strip because, while it's -possible- that it's simply a very misleading strip, it pretty much wrapped up the riddle for me. The fact that V always had a very male (and often Alpha male, if an elvish-wizard sort of Alpha) set of outlooks and goals just made it more satisfying, since it actually kinda "feels right" now that I think about things in retrospect.

I have to agree with those who have mentioned #659.

The plot had been getting more and more tense and been particularly dark in places. We didn't know how things were going to end up for either V or O-Chul. At a moment of extreme tension the longest running gag in the comic returns and hits you. I think that shows Rich is a genius. It was something for which I was completely unprepared. Both funny and relieving at the same time.

My favorite panel, however, comes from Strip #501:

"She has flowers in her hair and bluebirds singing around her head. Who did you think she was, the bringer of pestilence?"
