I am interested in trying Shadowrun, but I'm not sure about it yet. I can't really find any actual info about the game mechanics and such. Most of the basic DnD books can be found as PDFs on the internet, but what about Shadowrun?

Advanced/uncommon RPG books are practically impossible to find in my area, and they cost MONEH! This is why I'm looking for a PDF.

Where could I find Shadowrun books in digital form? Also, which books would I need at first?

RPGNow.com. (http://www.rpgnow.com/)

While you're there, download this awesome book (http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=692&it=1). It's free and you'll thank me for it.

EDIT: Also, D&D books can't be found in .pdf format. Not legally, at least, since WotC discontinued the .pdf sales.

Sounds like you need a quickstart more than anything.

Quickstarts are free PDFs with prepared characters and a starting mission that gets you jumped immediately into playing.

Not only is it infinitely more legal than trolling for free books, it's also a much faster way to get the feeling for a game.

And knowing that key word "quickstart" (thank you white wolf) allowed a google search to EXACTLY what you need.

Here you find a pdf for the game master, and one for the players:

Print em, read em, and hand out the player version to your friends and give it a whirl. If you are not sold on the futuristic cyberpunk, you owe it to yourselves to try the World of Darkness quickstarts for modern fantasy as well.

I don't think he's necessarily 'trolling for free books'

You can use the net to obtain things legally. My M&M collection is largely in .pdf, and all paid for.

I may have misinterpreted his "they cost MONEH!" comment. I thought he wanted to read the PDFs before buying the books to make sure he was significantly interested.

In any case, quickstart PDFs should be a much faster read, and he can actually play the system a time or two before deciding to splurge on rulebooks if it works well.
