What in Creation is a pankrator's cestus? Is it in the core book? I've seen it mentioned lots of places but i can't find it.

Presumably, it is just a normal cestus, but used by a pankrator.

EDIT: A deeper search indicates that it is a 1st Edition weapon that probably wasn't upgraded to the 2nd.

well what's a pankrator? Am I just being really dense here?

It is a Classical Greek martial art / sport. It's like a cross between boxing and wrestling.

EDIT: Well, pankration is. Pankrator is presumably someone who practices pankration.

Presumably it's a practitioner of Pankration.

Pancration (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pancration) was Greek wrestling where pretty much anything went, including pummeling your opponent until he was dead.

A cestus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cestus) was a glove (a bit misleading; read the description...) used in Pancration. A pankrator is presumably someone who practiced Pancration.

A pankrator's cestus, then, is the deadly battle-glove of someone who does the ancient Greek equivalent of Mixed Martial Arts.

Edit: Technically, this doesn't answer your question. I have no clue where the weapon's Exalted stats would be.

This (http://www.patternspider.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3209) might help, specifically:

From the Player's Guide, pg. 205: "A pankrator's cestus is an articulated bracer and gauntlet, usually worn in pairs, designed specifically to enable to use to better apply leverage and to hook the hands when applying holds and chokes to an opponent... The rarely seen crushfist is the artifact version of a pankrator's cestus. These constrictive sleeves add their strength to the wearer's own to enhance both offensive and defensive grappling capabilities."

Stats on page 210.
I don't have the Player's Guide though so can't confirm if it's in the 2e version.

There is no 2nd Edition of Player's Guide.
