Hello! I have a question.
I am presently in a campaign in which I am a halfling paladin with a spiked chain. I am the secondary tank, even though I can't do much damage.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips on what can be done with a spiked chain in combat?

Trip it, trip it good. (http://scrag.net/examining-the-tripper/)

Combat reflexes + Improved Trip is the standard combo. It's a two handed weapon, so it works well with Power Attack, and it's a reach weapon, though I'm not sure what the reach on a small spiked chain is.

There are LOTS AND LOTS of builds that focus on tripping people with the best weapon in the game, the Spiked Chain and it's variant versions. Look at that "lockdown feats" thread a few posts down.

The issue is that Halfling isn't very good a tripper. You can, however, use it for two-handed Power Attacking quite efficiently, especially with Combat Reflexes and Stand Still (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/psionicFeats.htm#standStill) to still give you the control edge, while not being able to profittably trip.

You have a nice attack bonus and you still get the same reach, but your strength and size modifier for tripping and disarming is suck. I'd grab combat reflexes to load up on attacks of opportunity. Besides getting one every time an enemy tries to melee you, try to get within 5 feet of casters and other ranged opponents. That way they can't simply 5 foot step away and cast/shoot.

I wouldn't blow a feat on it but a handful of opponents will still be easy to trip or disarm. Disarming objects, such as spell component pouches or holy symbols, is especially easy. Check out the trip and disarm rules for all the +4's and -4's that apply; they make a huge situational difference.

I second that notion.

The OP might be talking about 4th edition, since there's noting in the post to indicate otherwise. If so, the spiked chain training feat gives you a double weapon that's also a reach weapon. I'd look over the light blade and flail feats, though you probably won't have the Dex for them. There isn't all that much of interest for tanks with light blades, unfortunately, and that's the main shtick of the spiked chain in 4th edition.

sadly you said you are a halfling and therefore unable to fully utilize the awesomeness of the spiked chain like this guy...
