Preceded by an annoying buzzing sound, this creature bursts from the underbrush with a scream that causes your teeth to rattle, it's short fur a vivid red color. Roughly the size of a man, it walks on 2 over-sized arms, it's hindclaws held up to chest level. It's face is that of a razor-toothed bat, it's ears and nose forming hideous folds, and blank skin stretches over empty sockets where it's eyes should be.

The Chiroptolupus (known colloquially as the Red Screamer), is a flightless predatory bat greatly feared in tropical areas. Rapacious pack hunters, they can cause even experienced adventurers to flee, for the deep wounds of their razor teeth are greatly feared.

Ecology
Explorers to distant lands often send back live specimens for study or exploitation, and this is likely how the first chiroptolupi became established in local lands. An textbook invasive predator, these creatures are brazen and fearless in their depredations of easy-to-kill livestock and hapless travelers. While meat-eaters, their natural preference is for blood, and red screamers who are given access to unlimited prey will partake of only fluids before moving on to kill again, leaving lacerated, bloodless corpses behind.

The Chiroptolupus is obviously of bat ancestry, a flightless variant likely the result of an isolated micro-enviroment such as a large island. It's eyes are completely atrophied in favor of it's highly-developed echolocation system, and it's saliva contains anti-coagulant substances. It's sound producing and focusing structures are even capable of directing sound offensively, maintaining a constant aura that masks their exact position, or stunning weak creatures with a massive blast.

Habitat and Society
Lacking the well-developed intelligence and social structure of wolves, packs of Chiroptolupi do without clear leadership, living in “colonies” of 2-10 individuals that cooperate to hunt in the barest sense of the word. Which isn't to say they are prone to in-fighting; far from it. Red screamers show a particular tenderness towards each other and their young, displaying reciprocal altruism via food-sharing and grooming.

Females enter heat during the late winter, with males non-violently wrestling for mating rights. Young are born in the early spring, usually only one, but twins are becoming disturbingly common in the invasive populations, the infants clinging to the mother's back. Youngsters stay with the mother for the first year of life, only joining in the hunt after surviving their first winter.

Tacitcs
Chiroptolupus jaws are powerful, but their necks aren’t particularly strong or nimble, and it takes time and effort to bring their razor teeth to bear. Thus, their tactics focus on chasing and harrying their prey with sonic attacks, until it falls in exhaustion of fear, or is unwise enough to stand it's ground and be surrounded. Chiroptolupi tend to initially attack separate targets, but then gang up on any creature that becomes disabled or bloodied. Each creature acts as an individual, rather than coordinating with allies.

Lore
Nature DC 15: Keep running. Red Screamer bites are deadly, but easily avoided so long as they don't catch you.
Nature DC 20: Chiroptolupi (Bat-wolves) can project lethal bursts of strange sound that turn a man's legs to jelly. They can also lunge unexpectedly, so keep your distance.
Nature DC 25: A strange variety of flightless bat, these creature's delicate ear structures leave them vulnerable to sonic attacks. They see via projected sound, and this foreign mindset makes them resistant to conventional mental assaults.

“The local treemen warned us of screaming hunters in the night, fearful for our safety, not theirs. 'Keep running,' they said, 'always keep running. Do not tire, do not pause, or the screamers will take your red sap.' I was touched by their concern, but I shall not let my men be routed by mere beasts.”
-Excerpt recovered from the expedition journal of Hans Skloveki of the Arcane Collegium, which was in turn recovered from a large pile of guano.

Cool monster, but before I comment you should update it to the new monster format.
