You step into the Arena for the first time...a crowd roars as each and every member steps through. Apart from the deafening sound, the first thing you notice, is the Arena is slightly misty. You can still see the stands above you, and your allies around you, but the other side of the battlefield is obscured.

A booming voice silences everyone else. At the far end, in his own opulent booth, you see the Lord Squelzeth for the very first time. An obscenely fat, green head sits upon his neck, diamonds and gold embedded in his face and ears. If hair ever grew upon his pate, then it no longer exists.

"Welcome gladiators! I hope you have enjoyed my hospitality! Today, you earn your keep! You may not see me at every fight you go to, but I always make sure to see a fighter's first game - it invariably teaches me everything I need to know about everyone who fights for me! Today, you face the unknown - survive this, and you'll be richly rewarded! 500 gold pieces, for each and every gladiator, if you survive! Kill every enemy, for they shall not surrender - should they give up, they die! And likewise for you, my fighters! So fight hard and die well!" He settles down in his chair and clicks his fingers. You hear the gate on the other side of the Arena open, but that is all.

The massive metal hulk stepped into the arena, leaving deep prints in the sand. Uncaring for the crowd, his gemstone eyes focused on the opposing side of the battlefield. Taking a central position(W14), he stood waiting, his weapon held tight. Establishing defensive perimeter until disclosure of opposition is advised. Unit 743A will cover the central frontline.

The half-orc reels at first as he gazes upon the massive crowd and the wave of sound emanating from them. He tries to maintain his composure, but the orcish blood within him is quickly overcoming his natural calm, threatening to envelop him in a blinding reddish mist thicker even than that which envelops the arena. He breathes in and out with a visible shudder, then looks to his impromptu allies.

I am ready to meet my destiny, whatever it may be. I hope all of you are as well. Let's do this!

He snarls, almost completely out of control now, and wields his simple staff with murder in his eyes.

Eleniel shivers from battle fever as he steps into the arena, to the sound of the roaring crowd. The time seems to slow, the roar fades into the background, and the wood elf finds her senses sharpen in a manner now familiar to her. It's the energy of combat calling to me...

Following close alongside the other female of the group, she mimics her position and posture. It is difficult to focus on the battle, for the roar of the crowd reminds her of the difficulty she will be having in trying to make this event safe. Today the fact remains that she may die, but at least she will die with hope in her heart.

The Warforged stood there, waiting for the things to come, when suddenly Jayden burst into song. A strange new power started to flow into 743A, resonating with the hidden power within. This... can you feel it? It's magnificent. It's a sign of the things to come. All shall fall before our burning wrath!

The Warforgeds sapphire blue eyes suddenly changed into a dimmer tone, until they turned into a glowing ruby red. While for the allies around him only their weapons were affected, it seemed the constructs whole body was wreathed in flames, heat radiating from the metal creature. Usually seeming calm and emotionless, he was overcome with a violent frenzy.

The Warforged roared, for all the world to hear.

COME HERE, PUNY CREATURES! The sand hungers for blood.

Carrie begins to feel fairly nervous. While the rest of her team appeared to be getting overcome with blood lust, she was wishing this weren't necessary. The fact hit her that some of these people who stood beside her could die, that she could die. Not wanting to risk the lives of those around her, she knew she would need to do her best to help. With nothing to target, she simply prepared for the possible danger about to come, and waited.

The crowd hushes at the sound of the gladiators shouting...the silence makes hearing a lot easier. A mighty roar is heard, joined soon by a second. Bone-chilling howls next, with almost an ethreal quality. Gladiators ready weapons, and Jayden starts a rousing chorus, entwined with arcane energies that causes the gladiator's weapons to smoulder, magical fire melding with steel. Eleniel calls on her god, granting his favour to all around her, re-enforcing armour and spirit. Firing her crossbow into the haze, you hear a pinging sound...


Suddenly, a wall of enemies are on you. Lord Squelzeth must be a very...unique person, for the most noticable of these enemies are salivating Fiendish Dogs, and Elves. Bear-riding Elves.

The dogs don't quite make it to your lines yet, but are obviously very excited to get there. Reject #4 swiftly casts an enchantment on his weapon, before he is overwhelmed.

The northern-most Bear, charges forward, an arrow in the scale armour covering most of his body. Sadly, it struck the shoulder plate, on the fore-leg - a few inches to the side, and an artery might have been punctured. The Wild Elf riding it dismounts skillfully, urging the Bear forward in Elvish. But before he plows into the front line of warriors, Unit 743A steps boldly forward and swings at the bear...

The Wild Elf drops to one knee and fires her bulky-looking bow at Alex, recognising another archer - only room for one ranger in this town. The shot hits him in the hip, ever-so-close to a major blood vessel. The shot catches on the bone, stopping too much blood from leaking for now. He responds with his own shot...

Towards the south end of the field, a second bear, being ridden by a Wood Elf moves forward, not quite making it as far. The Elf riding it jumps off, pointing a scimitar at Reject, drawing a kukri with his other hand, and says simply "You. Mine." Behind this wall of flesh, two Fiendish Halflings stand - one a wizard, one a cleric. It seems they had to run as fast as they could to keep up, for they are both out of breath, and make no attempt to attack yet.

Seeing the opponents come out of the mist, and after suffering an arrow to the leg, Alex almost loses his footing, butquickly recovers and fires an arrow of his own.

If I get a choice of who, I pick the ranger who shot me.

The warforged stood unmoving in sight of the charging bear, holding his ranseur at the ready. At the last moment, he violently plunged his weapon forward, driving it deep into the thick body of the bear and burning his flesh with the flames wreathing around him
should be a hit I guess as long there are brown or black bears

OOC: Such a great bunch-up....if only I had brought Entangle. Stupid Druids only getting two level 1 spells.

A blinking red light. Anger. Danger. Finally realizing the purpose for which he'd been created, facing a foe for the first time in his brief life, Reject can no longer restrain himself. The dam of his calm bursts like a cheap prophylactic, and he loses himself in an endless blood ocean of fury. He points his glowing staff at the elf who beckoned him and beckons him with a chilling look in his eye as he screams I will cleave your soul in twain, sub-creature! Come and face me, if you dare! He prepares to swing the weapon at the first foe unlucky enough to come near him.

For the record, it was hard not to go the logical RP angle and charge the elf, hopefully splattering him all over the arena. But I'm pretty sure if I did that I might end up the first person to die in this thing, a rather ignominious fate.

Ready action to 5 foot step and attack the first enemy who attempts to land a melee attack on me, or if none do, then any enemy within range.

Shocked by the shear ferocity of the onslaught, Karfax is taken aback, and switches into self-preservation mode. He targets the closest perceived threat (BEAR1), casts Sunstroke against it, then retreats to Z-15, using Eleniel for cover.

Unit 743 A carefully circled around the bear to get a clear shot at the elf who dismounted moments ago, feeling secure with his companion between him and the enemies. Ruby eyes fixed on the elf after he shot Alex and promised unspeakable pain. Steel Wind! the construct announced as it whirled the ranseur around, taking a violent thrust at the wild elf while simultaneously delivering a crushing headbutt to the bear

Carrie sees the sudden onslaught of creatures rushing forward. In mere moments it is quite possible they would all be dead. The best she could hope for would be to be a conduit for the creator to keep these souls on the field as long as possible. She steps up to alex and says a blessing, "may your wounds be sewn by the work of the greatest of medics". She then repeats it in celestial, before placing her hands upon Alex, and a bright light emanates from the place where they touch and begins to slide along his body, quickly settling on the arrow wound, which immediately begins to heal.
