Hi guys, got a bit of a specific request here. I'm looking for a dice necklace, preferably a D10, available fairly cheaply from the uk. My google searches all end up with either something totally different, too expensive for me, or American (and with PnP I'm not willing to pay). I'm looking for something in the region of £5-£10 inc. PnP, if possible. Does anyone know of any Uk-based companies that could provide such a thing?

Make one.

Die, hand drill and nice leather string won't set you back more than about a fiver.

Hmm. I hadn't considered that.

You could easily make a dice necklace... I could got to my local "nerd" shop and get both a dice and a modeling drill, drill a hole in the dice and thread it on a string...

Okay I'm tempted to do that now...

Where you going to find a drill bit and leather string thin enough?

Jeweler's tools/modeling hobby shops. Hand drills in that size are pretty common kit for people who work in small bits of softer metals and plastics. For the thong... *shrug* Craft shops should have lanyards and cords in varying weights, although maybe not leather.

Did you try searching with the term "bead" for a pre-drilled d10 on this side of the pond?

I didn't search with 'bead', no. I'll try that.

Also, instead of threading the string through the die, you could invest in a tiny metal loop.

I'm actually quite into making jewellry and I have the tools for it, so I would happily make you one (I have bags and bags and bags of all sorts of different coloured dice you could choose from), but the shipping might get pricey and I don't think you can send money through the mail...

Edit: Shipping from Canada to England is only $4, which I would be happy to cover. Want a necklace? :smalltongue: Send me a PM and I can tell you all the colours I have and then I just need some time to dig out my materials.

Sure, I'm up for that! PM sent.

Never mind, complications have arisen. Advice still appreciated therefore!

As a forewarning to others, it costs about $80 to send an extra-small parcel across the ocean. :smallmad:

By shipping company (FedEx, UPS, etc) or by your country's actual postal service? USPS's shipping for priority mail overseas (flat-rate envelope/small box; it's apparently still cheaper by weight if you're sending like a 6-ounce jewelry box) is only 13.45.

Canada Post... I'll have to check that out after work tonight. I know we have FedEx somewhere around here.

I once made an epic earring out of a very old piece of RAM. It was sort of dangly, and because I didn't have a proper hook to put it on, I had to use the gauge loop (the kind with the bead that it pinches so it's closed). As a result, the wire bent and fell off never to be seen again :smallfrown:

That's a shame. That would have been, as you said, epic.

Too bad you're not in Finland. Because I just bought a die necklace a month ago in a con. It cost me seven euros. And it's pretty. The person selling also had earrings, but unfortunately, my ears aren't pierced, so I couldn't get a matching set.

Have you checked out any UK gaming conventions?

If you still need one by the end of August, I'll try to source you one in Ireland. I have a friend who'd be able to make one for sure, and dice jewellery sometimes shows up at cons here too. Postage from Ireland has to be better than postage from Canada... I hope...!

Well, one would hope. I'll be in Glasgow from about the 25th though, so I've no idea whether that will help or hinder my search. On the one hand, I won't have internet for just over a week. On the other hand, I'll Scotland's biggest (I think) city to explore for suitable shops. So we'll have to see.

I have earrings with six sided dice (three on a chain) in four different colours. No d-something-elses.
Bought them for a LARP game in which I was a priest of Luck/Darkness but kind of quit before I ever got to wear them. Since I started collecting dice they look cool in my display case though.

Maybe you should check this (http://stores.worldofdice.com/) out.
A necklace with removable dice and chain is about 16 dollars incl. shipping costs

I'm sure that if you contact the UK representative for Chessex, he would be able to get hold of one of these (http://www.chessex.com/images/Dice%20Holder%20d4%20Dragon%20Claw%20Silver.jpg) for you.
There are more designs listed in their catalogue that you can download from their home page.

That design is ridiculously easy to make. Get some thick wire and needle nose pliers. Bend the wire to the appropriate shape. Done.

I'm back from Glasgow, and I didn't find anything, unfortunately.

Do you know how big those are? (the D20 ones)

I just realized how hard it is to find "geek" jewelry on the web.

These are awesome. http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts-apparel/jewelry/d7d1/
