Are there any, where are they from and what do they do?

Also, is there any way to increase their Craft Reserve besides Retain Essence?

There's the psionic artificer in Magic of Eberon, nothin' much here, it's psionic instead of magic.

There's also the warforged substitution levels in Races of Eberon.

1st level: Infuse Self (+1 to caster level for effects that target yourself)
4th level: Tools of War (whenever targeting a construct or arms and armor with an infusion he can heal his Cha bonus in damage. Also, craft reserve points count for double for constructs, arms, and amor), lose homunculus
5th level: Craft Weapon Familiar (craft an intelligent weapon that acts as a familiar), lose retain essence

The weapon familiar is well worth looking into.
I managed to convince my DM to allow me to build a mechanical 'tail' as a Weapon Familiar. Basically that meant it had it's own slam attack against anything adjacent to the character, and given it's HP, it's got a reasonable BAB...
