So I had this idea for a goliath druid that summons creatures (preferably bears, but badgers work too) with SNA and then throws them at people with Fling Ally.

It's a very vague idea, and I have done no more groundwork than merely glancing at the Fling Ally feat, so one question burns: how do I make this MOAR AWEZOMEZ?

I could have sworn I'd seen a build like this before on these boards (with Dire Tigers instead of bears) but I can't seem to find it now.

AN EXCELLENT IDEA OLD BEAN

The end of complete warrior says that a thrown weapon does 5d6 damage for a 400 pound object, plus another 1d6 for every 200 pounds beyond that.

A typical dire bear is 12 feet long and weighs as much as 8,000 pounds.

(8000-400)/200 = 38

Therefore, a dire bear is 43d6 damage, plus the claw claw bite.

Found it! (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=160262&highlight=throwing+dire+tigers)

All sorts of useful discussion in there.

Can you whirling blade a thrown bear? Bear claws are slashing weapons.

Also I bet an argument could be made for kensai turning your bear into a flaming keen bear +3.

Is your Goliath druid a Werebear?

If not, why not?

EDIT: Alternately, Wildshape into a bear then cast Bite of the Werebear.

I don't think you need fling ally if we're going HH. But, I DO think you need to be naturally large, and the bear needs to be a light load for you. If we do go with fling ally, though, we need at least three feats for it to be good, and the bears have to be black bears so they're at least a size smaller than him.

Eventually, with some magic we could be throwing dire bears, though.

Piling on here. Akal's Croc-Tosser is just about exactly what you're looking for. It'll be amazing and fun.

First, by never, ever mentioning the horrible Fling Ally feat. It's the thrown-weapon equivalent of the Order of the Bow Initiate (limits you to one standard action per round). The Hulking Hurler Throw Anything ability is infinitely better: you can throw your ally (or anything else you can get your hands on) with each iterative attack.

Add Bloodstorm Blade so your bear immediately returns to your hand for another throw. Now add Knock-Back and Dungeoncrasher. Add a little reach, maybe a dash of Sweeping Strike. Voila (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5897646).

How much does a bear weight? Can you still lift it with 20~ Strength?

A black bear, maybe, and some brown bears enough to lift. But you couldn't throw most brown bears, and you couldn't lift Kodiaks.
