So, who's off to university this year, where are you all going and what are you studying?

I'm hopefully off to Bradford to study Chemistry for Forensic Science...

Yesterday I got my A-Level results but unfortuanly I was just under my lowest offer so didn't get to my chosen universities (I wanted to study Optometry at Aston and Anglia-Ruskin).

So, after 5 hours on the phone to universities, I have been able to be offered a place at the University of Bradford to Study 'Chemistry for Foresnsic Science' for a year then transfer to the optometry course after that, so I'll be spending 4 years at Uni instead of 3.

I still have to wait for them to accept the offer frimly on UCAS, so everything is a bit tense at the moment...

Well I can't speak for myself as I have another year to go yet. But my sister got her results yesterday and is off to Downing College at Cambridge. The even better news is that her room becomes my gaming room, but I havn't told her yet :smallwink:

Heading to Chester (Warrington Campus) for Film Studies.

However, I've known this for some time, due to applying during a gap year... no stress ;)

Forensic Science sounds interesting! I attended a lecture on that last year. ( I wasn't actually a student at the time, but I snuck in anyway). This year I got accepted into a masters program that educates teachers where I'm from. It's a pretty prestidigious thing here and Im loving every minute of the time I get to spend in this program. Going to major in English literature, with Phonetics as my second focus.

Also, you know you're with the right people when the girl you're sitting next to leans over to you and says: "You know, I just realized that the sexiest thing in the world is listening to <Lecturers Name Here> talk about Phonetics..."

Geeky women everywhere, I'm in heaven.

Off to Cambridge (Queens' College) to do Natural Sciences!

(At Cambridge, all sciences like Physics, Chemistry etc. are done through Natural Sciences. You start off doing three or so and by the end have specialised into one small area of science)

Going back to NSU this year after a year long financial/health hiatus. Been back for a week now taking 16 hours. It seems like it'll be an easy semester; three of the classes look to be a show up everyday and you'll get an A.

Man you guys get all the cool named colleges I'm going to:

"The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire".

I'll be "bluegold"! (whatever that is.) But seriously I'm majoring in Math and Physics hopefully, and then we do the fun grad school thing.

A fine institution, and my alma mata (BSc Hons Applied Physics, back when they had a physics department...).

I'd give you my landlord's address (one of the few good ones), but after 20 years I doubt that he's still renting. Besides, I have probably lost it. (Besides, they have built a whole load of extra Halls of Residence since I left, so hopefully accomodation shouldn't be too much of a problem).

Good luck with the degree...

Thanks.

Accomodation was a sinch - They actually had room left in the best stuff (Arkwright Hall) which is 2 mins away from the Chem departement.

Ah. Arkwright Hall is new to me - They were building Longside Halls the year I left. Take joy in the fact that you avoided Maggie Macs (Margaret Macmilan Halls).

If I remember correctly, Chemistry is the middle building - Physics were moved into there two years before we disbanded. At least you won't have to contend with the hills...

This thread makes me sad :smallfrown:
2010-2011 was supposed to be my sophomore year of uni. Then my student loans got dropped due to changes in national budget, and I'm no longer attending this semester (I'm going to get in next semester, though! I MUST!).

I go to Clemson, majoring in History.

Still need to pick a minor though

Started my second year in math at Uppsala University, Sweden, yesterday, and began my second bachelor, in national economy, at the same time. I'm looking forward to the year to come, lots of interesting courses, new people to meet and old friends to catch up with!
