How to enable hotseat in standard Med II:TW campagin?

Ok, both the readme and the manual claim that with gold edition you can play hotseat with the standard campaign, but I see no such option for it, just for the special campaigns. Am I reading it wrong, or is there some patch or whatever I need?

I've never done it before - I thought it was only possible for the expansion campains.
