Hello fellow playgrounders, I have a bit of a problem. I cannot seem to find a weapon I saw somewhere before... So I'm gonna remake it.
If anyone is familiar with the video game Guilty Gear, it has a wannabe ninja in it named Chipp Zanuff; who uses an interesting forearm blade weapon. Now I know I've seen the weapon somewhere before officially, but I can't seem to find hide or hair of it. So what does the playground think the stats should be on a forearm locked, slicing weapon about 2 inches longer than the length of an individuals forearm?
It would obviously be locked, but what about stats? 1d4 or 1d6 damage? Threat range? Crit multiplier? I need your help guys, because no dm is going to accept a fan's interpretation of the weapon. (I play the game quite often, guess who my character is?)

On a side note, if anyone has seen the official representation, please relay the book's name to me. I know it isn't in core or arms and equipment.

2 inches would make it close enough for dagger stats to suffice

It'd probably be more like over a foot long, considering it is a crescent shape and proceeding out and then down in a curve. I have a rather small frame, but my forearm is still about 6 inches long.

then use the scimitar stats

1d6 slashing 18-20\x2

Though if you can try get away with 19-20\x3

LOL, thanks for the image. Though I would think a weapon that long would actually be more dangerous to yourself realistically. :-) I thought I'd tone it down a bit.

Sounds like you are thinking of the warforged armblade perhaps?

A typical dagger should be about 9 inches long. I'd have a hard time justifying more than 1d3 as the base damage - it's a full two size classes smaller than a dagger after all. Although since sneak attack damage doesn't rely on a weapon's base damage at all, this could still be very nasty in the right hands.

ETA: It sounds like it may resemble a katar (punching dagger) a little. Perhaps use those stats?

something a bit more practical:

and another that could be nice as an exotic weapon:

I dunno anything about that weapon, but you could draw homebrewing inspiration from Krimm Blackleaf's Blade Maiden PRC (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122409). Look at the Blades of the Maiden class feature.

This reminds me of that guy from Blue Seed.

Anyways, I would definitely consider it an exotic weapon. Giving it the stats of a scimitar and treating it as a light weapon would probably be "fair", although not very powerful. Probably prevent it from being disarmed as well, given how it is "held".

Obscure Exotic Unnamed Weapon
Exotic Weapon
Light Weapon
1d6 damage (medium)
19-20/x2 crit
Special: The Obscure Exotic Unnamed Weapon, being attached to the gauntlet worn by the wielder, cannot be disarmed by normal means. Removing an Obscure Exotic Unnamed Weapon is a full-round action that provokes attacks of opportunity.

There is also Vyse from Skies of Arcadia, if you are looking more at something like bladed tonfas.

Thanks so much for the info, I think I just might use those stats, although, I'm planning on using some conniving to make it a monk weapon so the damage dice won't really matter, however, if you dropped the 1d6 to a 1d4 it would be fair to make it 18-20 right?

Certainly, I would consider that fair. It really matters what your DM thinks, though.

Basicly you want wolverine claws that strap to your forarm? Just one blade but basicly the same thing.

There are/have been real weapons similar to your idea. Cant remember what they where called off hand. they are a set of three or four shafts that extend from the four arm about 6 inches or so. It ends in a curve inward to form pinted hooks. with a spike pointing forward. primarily used for climing or catching weapons.

For game michanics the biggest advantage would be still being able to use your hands. Spell casting, items use ect.

as far as damage is conserned I would give it a D4 19x2. Light weapon. You can then use two of them.

edit. Oh and they would need an exotic weapon feat.

Sounds to me that you're talking about the bladed gauntlet from sword and fist. Its a light exotic weapon.

Bladed Gauntlet: This gauntlet possesses two cruelly sharpened blades that extend from the back of the wrist following the line of the forearm. A strike with a bladed gauntlet is an armed attack. The cost and weight are for a single gauntlet.

Weapon - - - - - - Cost - Damage - Critical - Weight - Type
Bladed Gauntlet 30 gp 1d6 17-20/x2 4 lb Slashing
