Stronghold-esque game?

So my friends and I have gotten into playing Stronghold Crusader again, and we like it and all, but on the smaller maps you can literally build stuff inside the other players' castle. Stronghold 2 fixes that, but not everyone has a good enough computer to run it.

So what are some (preferably old-ish) games that play like stronghold with a good multi-player (preferably LAN) set-up?

Age of Empires is always a good throw back. Lords of the Realm was good too (except the 3rd one.)

Age of Empires II. Miraculously, still playable.

Heh, actually we burnt our selves out on AoE a little while back, several weekends of games that lasted 4+ hours will do that, but maybe its time to go back to it.

Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majesty:_The_Fantasy_Kingdom_Sim). It's different. It's difficult. It's amazing.
