A thin plank of wood hangs beneath the old grey sign:

Under New Management

This old warehouse by the docks and on the edge of the city slums has numerous secret passageways and tunnels leading to it. When you walk in, either from the street or below, you see a freshly cleaned interior that actually looks somewhat welcoming, however, as a seedy hive of smugglers, pirates, and home of the local wererat assassin guild; this is a rough place to have a drink.

The back half of the building has been converted into a set of rooms, used by those who need a bit of privacy, whether to have a private card game, hold a secret meeting, or just to get away from the world while enjoying a dose of some of the more exotic items the Den serves. We don't care what you do here, just don't leave a mess. Just keep in mind, the walls are a little thin back there, and can be listened through (or busted through), so be careful.

The gambling scene is lively here, with craps, three-dragon ante, and darts, among other things. There are certainly not knife-fights held in the ring in the basement. Come early for a ringside seat. Gambling is permitted. Anyone caught betting against themselves will be killed, or worse. So don't do it.

The servers are all NPC goblins. They are: Blackeye, Hooktooth, and Daggernose.
The cook is a goblin woman named Sicklewort.
The NPC bouncer is Gnarl, the orc.

The menu is as follows:

Drinks

Common Drinks
All the common drinks are available in an extremely wide range of qualities, brands, and prices. Just remember- you pay for what you get.

Absinthe
Ale
Beer
Brandy
Coffee
Hard Cider
Kumis (Fermented milk)
Mead
Rum
Tea
Tequila
Vodka
Whiskey
Wine

Specialty Drinks
The specialty drinks are either crafted here or ordered specially from other sources. Normally they are higher class and more palatable, but that is not always the case...
Black Shadow-
A strong concoction guaranteed to send a chill down your spine at any temperature.
Damned Soul Nectar-
Yummy. Damned souls. Perfect for demons, devils, or anyone else lacking a conscience.
Devil Brew-
It tastes good, though drinking it will gradually corrupt your soul to evil.
Drow Spiderblood Wine-
A specialty drow wine with a strong bite, and a hint of spider venom. Alcohol isn't the only thing you have to worry about when drinking it... but it does taste good.
Firewine-
This wine is created in a way that literally leaves the top simmering and flaming. Only recommended to those who have a good fire resistance. However, it is extremely warm and has a fairly sweet taste.
Frenzywater-
You want to know what it is like to see red? Frenzywater will having you raging like a barbarian.
Goblin Thudrud Beer-
A favorite of goblins... but described by others as smelling like a rotten, flaming cow.
Hearth Brew Mead
This is a sweet mead with raspberries, rhubarb and some kind of ingredient that makes you feel warm when you drink it.
Ichor Liquor-
A mixture of blood and alcohol made especially for our vampiric friends. It can be served neat, on the rocks, or specially heated to 98.6 F.
Liquid Agony-
A drink brewed and distilled from the agony of victims, and quite sweet and tasty, but very addictive.
Mindflayer Mead-
A special brew for those squid-headed fellows. Also appropriate for Zombies, or anyoen else who likes the taste of brains.
Mushroom Wine
An Underdark drink fermented from mushrooms. It has a good deal of sugar added to it and tastes sweet, but may cause hallucinations...
Orc Kragg Liquor-
Strong. Disgusting. Manly.
Poisonbite Cocktail-
This brew is mixed of several poisons and rum. It induces extreme euphoria, and will drain the drinker's strength and mental capacities for a day or so.
Rat Mead-
This foul concoction is meant more for drinking games, and less for taste. You'll need a strong stomach to keep it down.

Aesa's Mixes
These are only available when Aesa is in, and beware if you order them... everytime it changes, and it is always dangerous.
Crazy Cocktail-
Whatever Aesa feels like putting in. Not normally fatal.
Death by Aesa-
Almost exactly like what it sounds. It has enough poisons, diseases, and energies to kill anyone with immunities to them.
Ingredients:

Magical Effects:
Curse of Constitution
Touch of Fatigue
Deep Slumber
Fist of Subduing Force
Subtle Death (normal magical and supernatural poison and disease resistance/immunities are bypassed. Resistances and Immunities due to body and form are unaffected.)

Poisons:
Nitharit
Sassone Leaf Residue
Black Lotus Extract
Arsenic
Dark Reaver Powder
Titan Blood

Instantly Causes:
Demon Fever
Devil Chills
Mummy Rot
Slimy Doom

Magical Item Effects:
Poisoned Potion
Flask of Curses
Dust of Sneezing and Choking

Imbued with Negative Energy and Essence of Ghast.

Essence of Disintegrate-
A clear liquid that has no taste. It gives you a pleasant tingling sensation that means your mouth, throat, and vital organs are being dissolved. Please clean up after yourself.
False Valhalla-
A drink that uses a combination of frenzywater, titan's blood (poison similar to frenzywater), happy juice, and the Wonder Trip additive. Causes insane, joyful rages that normally end in mass destruction.

Other

Food
Like the drinks, the food ranges in quality and price... the menu is currently under improvement.
Bread-
Crusty, burnt, soggy, or rotten. It's not your choice. A better bakery is "under construction" in the back. Thanks to a newly built brick oven, the bread is actually quite good now, baked fresh daily.
Dragon Steak-
This tender, extremely tasty steak is excellently prepared, but its source is undisclosed...
Fish of the Day-
The catch of the day, or yesterday... be sure to specify "fresh."
Puffer fish liver-
Tetrodotoxin, anyone? Extreme poison is ahead.
Soup-
Most common soups are available, but pay for what you want, or you'll get something else. Served in a bread bowl.

Mushrooms
Our mushrooms are well acclaimed for their taste and subtle poisons. If you have enemies, make sure they you didn't get something other than what you asked for...
Amanita-
A hallucinogenic mushroom that is fairly toxic. May cause nausea, sensory distortions, mood changes, and loss of equilibrium. Retrograde amnesia frequently results following recovery. Serious poisonings cause delirium, seizures, or comas.
Chanterelle-
An edible but unremarkable mushroom. Available pickled or dried.
Lorchel-
Also known as false morels (due to similarity in appearance), eating these raw results in extreme liver failure or death. Properly prepared, however, they are quite delicious. Available both raw and parboiled (properly prepared).
Morchella-
Also known as morels, these very prized and tasty mushrooms are available raw.
Omphalotus-
This mushroom looks the same as the Chanterelle. It is extremely appealing in smell and appearance, but has a mild toxicity that will lead to vomiting and cramps.
Oyster-
Unlike other mushrooms, this one has no confusing look alikes, and is prized for that quality alone. Served raw or stuffed.
Porcini-
Also known as Boletus ("superior"), the porcini is highly regarded and is served raw or sautéed with butter.
Portabello-
While edible, this is either described as plain or only slightly sweet. Available raw or stuffed.
Psilocybin-
This mushroom is famed for its hallucinogenic effects, while lacking dangerous toxins. Available raw and dried.
Shiitake-
These mushrooms are normally added to ordered soups. Available dried or raw.

Drink Additives
Buy them for your drink, or for someone else's drink... everything goes here.
Doze Pill-
A combination of magical energies and herbs guaranteed to put the drinker to sleep in a few minutes.
Hanger's Drop-
Ask for this in someone's drink to put them six feet under. Commonly means poison, though other methods can be bought depending on the target.
Happy Juice-
As seen in Malleo's shop. Turns the hair pink, and makes the drinker extremely happy.
Wonder Trip-
A mixture of magic and poison that causes extreme hallucinations and delirium which are not directly harmful or toxic.

Other Additives are available, you just have to ask.

Other Drugs
If it doesn't get you drunk, and it isn't a mushroom... we still sell it.
Arhtorvin
A gray powder made by different magic plants, Arthorvin is extremely calming. It is ingested, and numbs emotions and reactions.
Baccaran
A paste made of numerous, undisclosed substances, this is a mild hallucinogen that becomes more powerful as it is used in repetition and increased dosage.
Dreammist
This drug is formed into a tea, and then the vapors are inhaled. It causes incredibly beautiful and wonderful hallucinations that make the world seem dull in comparison. Overdose is extremely debilitating, as is directly drinking the substance.
Devilweed
A tobacco-like substance that is moderately addictive and makes the smoker skittish and more easily confused. Users enjoy it because it glazes over the memories of whatever happens during its effective.
Luhix
A powder made from plants grown in the abyss. It is sprinkled on self inflicted wounds- initially it causes intense pain, then numbs the body entirely. It is one of the most addictive substances known amongst the planes, but overdosing even a little may cause terrible, painful death.
Mertoran Leaf
This leaf is dried and treated. It is not very addictive, but it is cheap, popular, and boosts confidence. Ingested, not smoked.
Redflower Leaves
These leaves are only moderately addictive, but are known to give a boost to hand-eye coordination, making them popular among those who often engage in knife tossing or dart throwing. They are consumed raw and chewed.
Sannish
This blue liquid is made out of unknown ingredients and causes euphoria. It has a tendency to stain flesh and anything else it touches. Overdosing causes intense numbness.

This is by no means the limit of what we can get our hands on, just ask and we'll see what we can do.

Games
As a new addition to the Black Dragon's Den, there is a back room where all kinds of gaming take place. Goblins generally oversee the games and make sure things are fair... but everyone here can be bribed. Best to keep an eye on things yourself.

Card Games
-Coming Soon-

Dice Games
We provide all of the dice used here... unless you slip them out of our sleeve. "Better" dice can be bought with a quiet word and a few coin, though we don't provide protection from those who find out that you've used them.

Coin Pass
This is a simple dice game played with a pair of six sided dice, and is generally best with four or more players.
Each player puts out two coins (generally one type of coin is chosen, copper, silver, gold, or platinum) and then, in turn, each player rolls the dice.
If a player rolls a one, they take one of their coins and place it in the pot.
If a player rolls a six, they take one of their coins and pass it to the person on the left. This continues until only one player has coins, at which time they take the pot.
If a player has no coins left, they have one round to wait for someone to pass them a coin (by roll of a six), after which they can buy their way back in. You can only buy your way back into a game once.

Serpent's Eyes
This game is played with a pair of six sided dice, and a game board in the shape of the world serpent.
http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h107/sjunderw/Other/Serpenteye.png
Before the game begins, the number of rounds to play are determined, though the game may end ahead of time, or when one player runs out of coins/chips. Generally people play with a large number of rounds (double digits).
A round is completed once every player has rolled the dice once.
The dice start with the player closest to the seven on the board.
When a player rolls the dice, he does one of three things.
If he rolls any number 3-11, he places a coin on the corresponding number on the board, or, if the number is already filled with coins, they take the coins off of that number.
If he rolls a 2, he places a coin on every number on the board.
If he rolls a 12, he takes all coins from the board.

Warship
This game is played with five dice for each player. The person who rolls first is normally determined randomly.
The goal of the game is to create the best 'ship', where a 'ship' is a straight formed either forwards (1,2,3) or backwards (3,2,1). To create a straight, you roll the dice, and choose anywhere from 0-3 numbers from them. Your first chosen die is your starting number (IE, a number on either end of a straight), the second die chosen has to be the middle number of your straight, and the third die chosen is the last of your straight.
You have three rolls of the dice to form a straight. Whenever you choose one of these die, you remove it from the dice you roll to get the next number.
The game progresses like this:
1) Each player places an amount of money agreed on when the game starts.
2) Each player rolls the dice once, chooses any dice from their roll that they want, then either adds in the money first agreed on again, or passes from the game, but leaves any money they first bet in the pot (Note that everyone can see what die you have chosen, if you have chosen a die already).
3) Repeat the second step once more, then every player rolls the dice once more, and the person with the ship with the highest straight wins. If someone creates a ship one the first or second roll, they still bet, but do not have to roll until the last round (which is only done in case of ties).

If no one has a straight, the winner is based on the person with the highest number set aside (with only players with dice set aside competing). If there is a tie in highest numbers, they go to the second die set aside (with only players with two dice competing). If there is a tie between set aside die, they proceed with the same process into the dice they last rolled (excluding those set aside)

If two people have the same straight, they compare the numbers rolled on their last turn (not including the ones placed into their "ship"). The person with the highest numbers wins.

The winner takes all money in the pot. Generally, more than one game is played at once.

Other Games
These may be more or less 'games' as such... but are just as entertaining.

Darts
Bet on how well someone will throw, whether they can do it with their eyes closed... with their left hand... or if they can dodge a knife- it's all good. There are a few different dart boards, so any number of rings and scoring areas can be played with.

Knife Fights
We hold knife fights here every once in a while, down in the basement. To surrender or death. Place your bets, folks.
-No current list of PC fighters. Contact management to arrage something 'formal.'

Dipsnig's plot clone enters Black Dragon's Den. Well well, what do we have here? Dipsnig is a small, brown-skinned goblin wearing a leather armor and a sleevless grey blouse over it.

Oooh! Vampire Rot's plot clone enters the tavern. He sits down at a stool and grins at Blackeye.

"The usual. Liquid Agony."

Rot sips his drink slowly, savoring the emotions. Though the Ichor was specially made for vampires, Rot preferred live prey or the feelings of agony and fear from the drink. And of course Rot's been a regular here. Don't you remember? Winkwinknudgenudgepassacoinalong?

Earl of Purple

A white-skinned humanoid creature enters the Den. He's wearing a leather loincloth and a heavy blindfold over large eyes. Protruding from the center of his forehead is a stalk of flesh ending in a glowing bulb, and similar light-generating organs are on his wrists. He's at least 7ft tall, maybe taller if he didn't slouch. Some patrons may recognise him as a Deeptroll, a breed of cave-dwelling giant rarely found at depths less than a mile from the surface. One of the goblin waiters leads him to a table suited for his size. Dhark Deadtimes, without anybody reading the menu to him.

"I do believe they would call it a bar." Says a well-dressed drow standing behind the bar. "I like to call it mine." Raril flashes a grin at Dipsing. "What can I do for you?"

Rot gets an odd look from his server. He'd never seen him in here before. But if he was going to pretend he was a regulr, that was fine. So long as he paid.

The deeptroll catches the attention of the Drow behind the bar. Raril hadn't seen one of those since he left the Underdark. he thought it was odd that it would be up here. Then again, he was up here too, wasn't he?

And it's about right...now...

...that the shadows in a corner ripple and swirl...

...and a moment later thicken, as Becky comes tumbling out.

Possibly holding onto Ilpholin.

VampireRot
2010-08-26, 07:58 PM
"You two!? Oh dark and cynical gods!"

Becky and maybe Ilpholin will find themselves being glared at by a certain vampire. Rot drinks down the rest of his Liquid Agony and nods to one of the goblin servers for a refill. He might need a lot more with those two here. :smallannoyed:

Reinholdt

Ilpholin is dragged through. She looks around.
"That was..." The nymph trails off as she notices Rot Raril.
Some staring results.

Artemis97
2010-08-26, 08:04 PM
So long as Rot keeps paying, he will continue to be served.

The grin dissappears from Raril's face when he spots Ilpholin. "Oh Nine Hells." He grumbles. "What are you doing here?"

Shadow of the Sun

There is a wind. An ill wind, perhaps? I don't know. All I know is that it manages to blow the door of the tavern open.

And then flies in a butterfly. One with a rather striking purple colour. It flutters around wildly, moving from place to place without any seem purpose.

Eventually, it lands on an ornament on the wall.

And then...

There is a blinding flash of purple. One that somehow fills the bar from every direction. No matter where you're looking, it's there.

Standing just below where the butterfly was, there is a besuited person. Anyone who's seen the Gentleman will notice the resemblance- a grey suit, with very bright buttons, perfectly made shoes, and a top-hat pulled down over the eyes.

Of course, the long red hair and pointy ears rather ruin the resemblance.

"Whoo! That was fun."

2010-08-26, 08:06 PM
Becky skids across the floor a bit, not being used to the mechanics of pulling somebody along with her through the shadows, and rolls to a halt...right at Rot's feet.
Looking up at him.
She blinks in surprsise, then smirks.
"Oh, look what the black cat dragged in," she quips, as she rolls away and goes to stand, giving the bartender an odd look at his grumbling.

And not just because he's grumbling like Cosmo, either.

"...because the Taverna's on fire?" she says, completely reasonably.

Reinholdt
2010-08-26, 08:07 PM
Ilpholin's face slowly breaks into a wide grin. A smirk even. :smallamused:
"I got dragged here as the last Tavern I was in went up in FIRE!" She throws up her arms dramatically to emphasize the point.

Then tries to grab Becky and push her forward.
"Daddy I'd like you to meet my date, Becky. Becky, this is daddy."

Artemis97
2010-08-26, 08:15 PM
Raril blinks, both at the sudden purple light, but also at the pair of girls that just tumbled into his bar.

The last bar they were in was on fire? Did his daughter just say she was dating this girl? He wondered briefly if that sort of activity was genetic.

"Nice to meet you. Please don't set my bar on fire. Sicklewort's tried that enough times as it is, with the new oven." He sighs and decides he need a drink. There were perks to owning the enitre barstock. "Are either of you hurt?" He asks the girls as he pours himself a glass of dark mushroom wine.

He recognizes Sunn and waves, although he seems a tad distracted. Still, he pulls out an extra glass for her.

Shadow of the Sun
2010-08-26, 08:17 PM
Sunn waves back, walks over, and leans on the bar.

"Pint o' Scotch, please, Raril. And keep 'em coming."

She absent-mindedly twirls her cane as she looks at Becky and Ilphorin. The hat is still down over her eyes, though.

Rot is indeed paying. He has a rather large income from mugging and eating people at night. Off-screen of course, if I made posts about it all the do-gooders would stop em.

"You're the one that got dragged in..."

Rot grumbles and scowls. His plot clone was here to relax. Not to get harassed by these goons. :smallannoyed: *chug*

Hey, you don't usually meet the parents on a first date! :smalleek:

...at least, that's what's running through Becky's mind at the moment as, for a moment, her face betrays a stunned expression - then, one of sheer panic.

Before she composes herself, and nods. "Er...hello there. Good to meetcha," the Goth-looking shadowcaster says to Raril. "And no, I'm not hurt now no thanks to that stupid cat," she mutters, a rip still quite noticable in the side of the stomach of her top, as she looks over to Sunn, and nods in greeting. "Funky outfit."

Reinholdt
2010-08-26, 08:21 PM
The nymph with purple hair, very tight leather clothing and a whip on her back, hops onto a barstool.

"We didn't set the place on fire, it just spontanously combusted." She tells Raril, giving her most innocent look. Which considering her get-up and general giddy sadistic demeanor, isn't all that innocent.

"I'm not really hurt. The mean eldritch vampire kitty that was supposed to be Mister Squiggles din-din bruised me a bit I guess. But I handled it."

:smalleek: "MISTER SQUIGGLES! Oh I hope he's alright." :smallfrown:

Tebtranlyn also comes in quickly opening and closing the door. He coughs a bit and shakes the soot off of himself. Then he sees Ilpholin and another drow that looks strangely familiar. So, he walks over keeping his hood up to hide his face so he can get a better look at Raril.

In walks a rather odd-looking young girl (I'd say 16-17 at a glance).

The fleece-lined longcoat, dull newsboy cap, chaps, cowboy boots, black hair and bleached bangs... that's not quite so odd when you take a look behind her amber-tinted glasses and see the lack of eyes. Or sockets. Or any indication that eyes would ever go there.
http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/Beans-tastic/krieger.png
She looks around at all the interesting people.

Artemis97
2010-08-26, 08:31 PM
"Sure Sunn." Raril nods and puts a pint glass on the bartop, along with a large bottle of rather good quality scotch. "Oh, I should introduce you. This is my daughter, Ilpholin, and her friend Becky." He explains, gesturing to the girls with his wine glass before taking a long sip.

"Now what cat is this, and who is Mister Squiggles?" For some odd reason, the drow felt he needed to fix whatever was wrong. He knew it really wasn't any of his business and shouldn't get involved but that didn't change the way he felt.

Teb goes unnoticed by Raril. He's focused on other things, and one more shady figure in this palce was nothing to be alarmed about.

Shadow of the Sun
2010-08-26, 08:34 PM
Sunn pours herself a glass of Scotch, full to the brim. "Cheers to you, Raril."

She looks at the folk he was introducing her too. "Pleasure to meet you. And thank you. Stole it from the snappiest dresser there ever was."

She takes a sip from her glass. A big sip. A REALLY big sip. As in, the glass is now half empty (or is that half full?) sip. She smacks her lips.

The Bushranger
2010-08-26, 08:35 PM
"I'm sure he's fine," Becky says reassuringly to Ilpholin, nodding again to Sunn as she's introduced, smirking a bit. "Oh, it's snappy, alreight. Bit much perhaps though..."

The smirk fades at the mention of THAT CAT. "That would be the cat that spits acid and gets bigger every time you kill it," she grumbles, eyeing the menu. "Hey, could I try this spider-blood wine?"

Reinholdt
2010-08-26, 08:38 PM
"I dunno. Just some stray I fed to Mister Squiggles. My giant dire pet tarantula. You two should meet! I told him all about you and he really is looking forward to seeing you face to face. You two would be best friends."

She gives Sunn the slightest of nods before snatching up a menu for herself and looking through it.

And after a minute of looking at Raril Teb finally places him.

He grins evilly and pulls down his hood. " Well, well, well, if it isn't dear cousin Raril. " Tebtranlyn says placing his hands on the bar and leaning forward a bit.

The eyeless girl looks around and, just to spite every last one of you, sees things.
She sees the purple-haired nymph who was wearing what looked to be made from skin. From a cow perhaps. She wonders how the cow is doing, not having skin with which to keep its insides in and not out.

Also, a girl with a rip in her top... oooh, one of those dark-elf things talking to another dark-elf thing.

Raril pulls out another bottle from behind the bar, and pours a glass for Becky.

Of course it was a giant tarantula. All thought of going off to rescue 'Mister Squiggles' goes right out of Raril's head."No, that's alright." With a small shudder he takes another sip from his glass, and nearly chokes on it when Tebtranlyn appears at the bar. "Tebtranlyn?!" After a moment of shock, he regains some of his composure. "Care for a drink?" Raril asks his nephew, smiling in a friendly fashion.

Teb glances away at the menu for a second going over it very quickly to pick out major things. He smirks and his eyes go back to Raril. " Oh no thank you, Raril I'm perfectly fine for the moment. " And there are too many poisons you could too easily slip into the drink.

Tebtranlyn does take a seat though. " If you don't mind me asking where have you been all these years? How long ago where you sent to check up on family on the surface? " Yep, Teb has read his character directory. Then he answers Ilpholin. " The same thing you are. Staying in a place that isn't being lit on fire and filled with toxic fumes. " He says more respectfully than he was talking to Raril. Also Teb used the term cousin in the more general term of not immediate family member, mostly because I don't remember/know what there exact connection is.

Actually... Raril would be Teb's Uncle. *goes back to do a bit of editing*

Raril smile broadens, a wicked glint in his eye. Seems Teb guessed his play. It was an obvious one, but Raril was just a little out of practice. Still, the drow was happy, even if his bar had just turned into a miniature version of his home city. It was exciting, something new, yet oh so familiar. Let's see if you still know how to play this game.

"Are you referring to my first foray up into the Night Above? That was almost 15 years ago by reckoning. Possibly longer by yours." Raril knew Ilpholin was a good 20 years further down the timeline than he was, and Tebranlyn might be the same way. "Of course, I did return after that. My mission was ultimately successful." Warning: the information in the character directory may be a little out of date, I might have tweaked things slightly in my head, filled in some blanks, etc..

A goblin server comes up to the eyeless girl who is apparently reading the menu and asks her if she wants anything.

Sunn snaps her fingers at Raril, to get his attention.

"Uh, this bottle is done. Can I have another?"

She seems to be relatively sober still.

But she deadtimes.

Teb seems to have ignored Ilpholin for now. Which is fine by her. The fact that another Drow knows Raril is here now, is NOT fine by her. Even moreso since she was caught in the same vicinity. Having never informed Danube of finding Raril while on the surface may have been a mistake, but she wasn't going to hand daddy over to surrogate mommy.

"Excuse us for just one second. I want to ask Becky something... intimate and it'd only fluster daddy and cousin if they had to listen." She smiles at the two proper drow and stands to try and drag Becky over to a corner.

Becky, sipping her wine with an expression of enjoyment, looks in surprise at Ilpholin...
...then, taken by surprise, finds herself dragged off her barstool, and off to a corner!
Grinning a bit, figureing it's not going to be quite as 'intimate' as implied, but figuring she'll go with the flow.
And she can always hope. :smalltongue:

Raril nods to Sunn and fetches another bottle from behind the bar, setting it on the countertop. His player also notices the not so subtle threat she made earlier. "Sunn, I'd prefer if you didn't make such a mess of my patrons in my bar. Bad for business, you see. besides, I think I can handle things." He replies, taking the liberty to refill her glass.

Paying for a cup of cofee in electrum coins? The girl is going to get a very nice cup of cofee, with cream and sugar on the side. Careful, that stuff is probably a bit strong.

" Oh really? I must have been out on a mission when you came back then. So, Raril, your a barkeeper now? Does that mean you tell patrons about all sorts of goings on in this fair city? " He say fair very sarcastically for a noble drow. Which basically means you would have to roll a natural 0 to miss it.

Teb also starts to fiddle with his clothes a bit making sure that soot from the fire still isn't on them. This also makes his house symbol very noticeable.

Shadow of the Sun

"Sorry, Raril. But you're under MY protection. I owe you, see. A debt I don't think I'll ever repay. So, like I said. If anything escalates, I WILL step in."

"Let me serve for a bit; I can whip up a cocktail just as good as Aesa ever did."

Ilpholin turns so her lips can't be read by Teb. She knows that trick all too well. Shouldn't be heard in this corner either with lowered voices.

"Only if they pay me to." Raril says, flashing his nephew another of his signature grins. Tebtranlyn might notice that Raril still wears his own house insignia, kept on a short piece of ribbon around his neck.

He then looks to Sunn, knowing he wasn't going to win this argument. He shrugs at the offer for her to bartend for a while. "Sure, Sunn. Thanks." He lifts up a section of the bar and steps through, leaving the section open so Sunn could get behind the bar. As he passes by her, he whispers. "I appreciate the help, I really I do, but sometimes a man has to do things himself. Kampi'un?" He asks, slipping into his native tongue for a brief moment.

She doesn't need to step through, having jumped over the bar previously. She cracks her knuckles, loudly.

"Al-right! I am now serving special cocktails that you cannot get ANYWHERE else. You can have me surprise you, or you can order them custom. 's all good."

" Well, that's too bad. Here I was hoping I could kill some white skinned liars and get some information all in one shot. " He says and then shrugs. When making a deal, make certain you get your goods first, be it gold or information." He says, sliding the coins off the table and into his open hand. "That way, if they decide to double cross you, you still have what you came for."

The bard pauses to stow the coins away in a pouch on his belt, not saying anything for a bit, looking at Teb and letting him think maybe he wasn't really going to tell him anything and just take his gold.

"But that won't happen here." Raril says, once a sufficient chunk of time had passed. "You see, I actually have something I want you to give my sweet sister."

The drow reaches back and unties the ribbon that holds the house insignia hanging around his neck, before dropping it on the table between them. "Tell her I quit. I want nothing more to do with our House or Family Business. Have her write me off as the fool and the failure she's always known I am. Leave me to my life here. I want no more trouble. But, if she decides that I am worth coming after again, know that I have nothing left to lose. I have seen too much loss and pain in my lifetime. I have passed through death, through the Demonweb pits themselves, and come out the otherside a very different man. I do not fear her any longer. Not even Lolth herself scares me anymore." The two portals are actually connected, going through one will have you exiting the other. All in all, Raril was just trying to keep Teb from fleeing so quickly, and was too lazy to run after him.

He also waves a hand, casting a light spell to dispell the darkness.

The white-skinned creature hunched at 7ft tall, wearing a blindfold over its large eyes and a loincloth around its, well, loins. The stalk of flesh erupting from its forehead glows blue, with its fingertips glowing fainter. The deeptroll from over a mile underground turns its head in several different directions. "Could somebody please read me the menu? It's too bright up here for my eyes and I cannot actually read."

Devil Brew-
It tastes good, though drinking it will gradually corrupt your soul to evil.

Strong. Disgusting.

The menu is read. Dryly with a hint of humor.

Ilpholin, once again forced to demonstrate her incredible speed, twirls and tries to hit the crossbow aside with the flat her palm before backwards elbowing Teb in the face. Hopefully it'll work better than the uppercut did.

She might have stopped on Raril's request, but not while she has momentum and not while someone's bringing up a crossbow to aim at her. If she stops now, she'll have no reprieve if Teb chose to fire it at her.

Raril growls and strides across the room towards Ilpholin and Tebtranlyn, intent on pulling them apart. At the precise moment Ilpholin demands Teb's death, the door bursts open.

Mime jumps in, arms thrown wide and in the air, smiling broadly. A knife embeds itself in the doorway by his head, but I don't think he actually noticed.

The poison would probably have had some effect if it had actually been mentioned in an earlier post... >.>

Raril glances back at Ilpholin before staring hard at Tebtranlyn. Would the younger drow keep his word? Would he go back to Danube and just leave them be? After all of this? It was unlikely.

Raril sighs heavily. "I'm sorry, nephew, but I just can't trust you to do that." He says, sadly. The drow hated having to make such a call. If it were only his life in the balance, he'd have let the boy live, but he wasn't willing to put his daughter at risk. Not just for the sake of his pride.

He drops his hands to rest them on the hilts of his swords, ready for the fight that would inevitably come.

"I can't come up with a single non-cliche retort to that, so I think I'll just finish you off." Ilpholin's whip darts out, trying to wrap around one single arm of Teb's and make it rather difficult to stab with it, while somewhat restricting his movement.

Teb throws a dagger at it probably causing it to fall or at least miss him, and with an open opportunity he dashes forwards towards Ilpholin. Along the way he'll bend down and pick up the dagger he threw and jump off to the side as he throws it at Ilpholin.

Artemis97

In order to get to Ilpholin, Teb has to go past Raril. He draws his rapier and slashes out as the younger drow darts past. The thin blade was coated in a film of Drow knockout poison, should Teb be scratched by it.

The Bushranger

I don't think a dagger would cause a whip to fall. :smallconfused:
But I can buy changing the trajectory and causing it to miss, though it is easily retracted and snapped back to her side.

Ilpholin neatly snatches the dagger thrown at her by the handle, literally inches from her face, and grins. "You'll have to try better than that." She waits to see if he gets past Raril and if he does, will likely find a whip wrapped around his torso as she strikes again. If not, she'll hold off because it's hard to wrap someone up with another person purposefully trying to block the way.

ApeofLight
2010-08-29, 12:22 AM
Teb steps away from Raril as he slashes, though instead of going past he starts to spin with the slash and grab the older Drow's arm and use the power of MOMENTUM to throw him towards Ilpholin.

It seems Tebtranlyn also has some fancy footwork as he dances around the shadows trying to trip him up. " I've been trained not only by the best fighters among Xar'Char but also took some of the best classes on fighting at the academy. You think I'll go down easily? "

Artemis97
2010-08-29, 12:28 AM
Raril gets grabbed and thrown. Thinking quickly, he turns this to his advantage, though. The drow uses the force of the throw to jump into a backflip. Upside down in the air, he ennacts his innate powers of levitation and sails over Ilpholin's head, winking at the girl as he goes past. He lands lightly on his feet behind her, sheathing his sowrds before sprinting for the bar.

Shadow of the Sun

Suffice to say, it works not.

Reinholdt

Ilpholin grin grows perhaps as Raril flies past her.
"What does easy have to do with it?"
With a flick of her wrist, the whip in her hand is suddenly quite visibly flowing with a strong electrical current, other than, of course, the handle.

She snaps the whip in a horizontal wave at Teb several times in rapid succession designed specifically to drive him back away from the door and into one of Becky's grasping shadows. I think it goes without saying that getting hit by the whip at this point would be rather... painful at the very least.

The Bushranger
2010-08-29, 12:36 AM
And Becky, grinning, is ready to make the shadow latch on but good the instant Teb's in it...

Moff Chumley
2010-08-29, 12:42 AM
To make things a little more interesting, The Moff pulls another, smaller knife out of his jacket, and tosses it into the fray. But The Moff is supernaturally lucky, so the knife will find itself heading straight for the wrist of Teb's weapon hand...

Tebtranlyn jumps back several times to dodge the whip just as Ilpholin planed. Then the dagger from the Moff comes flying for him and Becky's shadows start to grab at him.

Teb has a plan though! As the dagger is about to hit him the drow deflects it with a strike from his own dagger. This puts him in a bad situation though because now Becky has a grasp on him with the shadows, for a second at least. Why? Because as soon as the dagger is no longer a threat to him Teb closes and covers his eyes in the crook of his arm.

" Sunburst! " He yells casting the spell sunburst. This should hopefully not only make the shadows disappear for a second it should hopefully give enough time to the outnumbered drow to run and jump through a window and escape.

It's basically a sudden burst of sunlight. Can cause pain, blindness and in undead like Rot can cause some damage.

So, if it's successful then anyone that wasn't covering there eyes basically got searing eye pain and blindness, possibly damage to themselves. The blindness may or may not be permanent.

Indeed. Descriptions always help when using spells.

Ilpholin tries to use what little warning she has to cover her eyes with her arm and stop it from blinding her, but she seems to only have prevented permanent damage, still finding herself unable to see properly for a short time. Not that that stops a proper combatant.

Especially one with her own blinding capabilities. No doubt Teb is either immune to his own spell or shut his eyes to cast it and plans to use the effects to escape, but Ilpholin activates her blinding beauty specialty. Unlike a burst of the sun, this is more ongoing and only affects things that can see and not things like shadows and darkness. The effects are very much the same to those with eyes who see her though. It's like staring at... a sunburst when it goes off. :smalltongue:

Raril vaults over the bartop just as the Sunburst spell goes off, and is shielded from the searing light. A moment later, he stands up from heind the bar, a heavy crossbow in his arms. It was a rather large construction of wood and metal, with wheels and pulleys amplifying the tension on thebraided wire bowstring. Brass sights at the front and rear of the weapon of gnomish design made this monster of a crossbow a highly accurate, highpowered weapon. Raril shoulders it and takes aim for Teb.

Unfortunately, Ilpholin chooses this moment to blind the entire bar. Raril pulls the trigger anyways, firing on judgement and instict alone, hoping he could judge where Teb had moved to in that split second.

Becky, as it happens, is completely unaffected by Ilpholin's Blinding Beauty ability.

Why is this, you ask? Especially since she has such a super-duper crush on the nymph/drow/Chaotic Evil Eldritch Thing That Is Probably Just Itching For A Chance To End The World But May Just Be Misunderstood?

Well, that would be because of Teb's Sunburst spell, of course.

Which, it might be noted, seared away the shadows she'd been commanding to start leeching his essence, quite niftily...

..and also caused her to SCREECH IN YE GADS THE HORRIBLE TERRIBLE BURNING PAIN!!!

It's a bit hard to be looking at a nymph when you're screaming and yowling and rolling around on the floor in agony, after all.

So... Is Ilpholin using love magic or something? :smallconfused: Or does it just blind people. If it's love magic, Rot is unaffected due to him lacking all those silly hormones. If not, he's probably blinded. And still on fire. The vampire flails around for the nearest source of water. He checks behind the bar for a fire hose or something.

It's Fey magic. You could probably call it love magic, since that's pretty much all she has access to. The idea is her beauty is so incredible it's blinding. Undead like Rot are probably just plain immune.

Though Vampires tend to be less immune to things than other undead, especially things involving sensuality. Probably since vampirism is supposedly a metaphor for sex. :smalltongue:

Angie walks into the bar and quickly takes in what is going on and decides to stick close to the wall. She watches the fight out of the corner of her eye as she makes her way around the room trying to find a small part of the bar that the fight hasn't reached yet.

The young woman considers putting up her ignore me aura, but that would make it impossible to be served anything.

Teb makes it through the window safely! Mostly safely! Wounded! Survivable! Well, between Moff's dagger and that gnomish crossbow, along with him having to jump through the window and the split second where Raril was blinded his right arm is... pretty messed up.

But not messed up enough for him to run away into an alley and disappear into the shadows. Good thing he wasn't looking anywhere near Ilpholin when she did the beauty thingy of blindness.

Hooray! The evil drow got away with a new set of enemies that he wants to kill oh so badly. Also if he's lucky he might not loose his arm. Though he's probably going to need a healer soon for that.:smallfrown:

Dipsnig staggers, slowly regaining his eyesight. Sensitive goblin eyes or not, he's been blinded a lot since leaving home and he got used to it. Yeowch... where's that kobold-loving bastard who blinded me? Looking at the smashed window, he gets a very definite suspicion.

That's a good way to make sure one gets killed rather quickly while trying. :smallannoyed:

Ilpholin turns off her blinding beauty, recovering almost as quickly as Dipsnig and stoops to help Becky goes to check on Raril thanks the Moff immediately exits to chase after the blood trail and hunt Teb down ASAP. She's not the most gracious of allies.

ApeofLight

Ilpholin will be able to follow it for a while but it seems Teb quickly started to bandage his arm once he was out. This makes the blood trail harder and harder to follow as it goes along and after a while you'd probably need a skilled tracker to continue to follow Teb's tracks.

2010-08-29, 05:10 PM
If anybody needs a tracker, there's a Deeptroll sitting at a table, eating fish messily. The deeptroll is 7ft tall, although probably taller due to the hunched back, with white skin and blue light-organs on a stalk of flesh protruding from his forehead and his wrists. The creature from over a mile underground is wearing a loincloth and a blindfold over his large eyes. The darktroll also asked specifically for the oldest fish available, making him rather smelly at the moment.

Deeptrolls are good trackers; living in the lightless depths of the world means they need to be to survive.

"He got away, didn't he?" Raril asks no one in particularly, mostly because he can't see anyone he would be talking to. Staring blankly, he reloads the crossbow in his hands by feel alone.

"Hey, Daggernose?" Raril pipes up.

"Ya, boss?" The Goblin answers.

"Can you get the man some water?"

Daggernose nods and picks up a bucket of soapy water from the corner and tosses its contents at Rot.

Raril, meanwhile, sets his crossbow on the counter, and tries to carefully make his way towards Becky.

Teb is very fast indeed to bandage himself so quickly while running for his life. Realizing there really was no chance of killing Teb, Ilpholin returns to the Black Dragon Den in an extremely foul mood, going to step over Becky and take a seat without saying a word.

*Checks watch*

Hmm, I'd say the poison administered to Raril at the very begging of the whole fight through that little scratch he got when he tossed Tebtranlyn should start to take effect in about two minutes.

Once it starts Raril probably won't notice much. A little blurred vision, weak legs, fatigue. Then about ten minutes after that he should be collapsed onto the floor barely able to move with everything being blurry and ten more minutes after that he shouldn't be able to breath or see and death should soon come after that.

Oh, blurry vision, a symptom he already was experiencing. Tired legs, he most likely won't notice as he's sitting down, and fatigue, well that was to be expected after a fight like that. So... yeah... Raril was in real trouble.

"Suburst." Raril explains for Becky. "As the name indicates, it simulates a burst of raw sunlight, damaging eyes, searing skin, and burning undead." He waves a hand in the general direction of Rot. "Very clever move, really, especially when fighting those who are sensetive to light, as we Drow are. I have to wonder where he learned that, though. It's not a common thing in the underdark."

"Though Naddy won't be. I hope you made your peace with him dad-"

Though seems to be very good at turning that to her advantage and making it a powerful flying kick at Rot's face.

Should someone actually check on him instead of kicking him, they will find that Raril's pulse is racing, his breathing is shallow, and his eyes are half open, unfocused.

He was presently having flashbacks to when his brother hit him with a similar poison in this same building years before. He'd also like it if the ladies would save their power contest until after he was healed. The drow figured they wouldn't, though. They never did. Power came first in a woman's mind. Well... most women. Zee was never like that. Neither was Lori.

How strange he would think of her in this place. I wonder if I'll see her again...

Raril should find that the poison racing through his blood is draining, and that his pulse is equalising. That is, at least, what Sunn intended.

"He might be 'your daddy', but he's MY charge."

Artemis97
2010-08-29, 10:30 PM
Ilpholin's a strong girl, she can probably manage to pick up Raril without any trouble. He wasn't resisting, for the moment anyways.

Then Sunn snaps her fingers, and the poison is magically out of his system. Soon, his breathing slows to a normal rate and the drow blinks, looking around.

Reinholdt

Why? :smallconfused:
To any observer who didn't know better it sure looked a whole lot like mugging a guy who was already down on the ground.

And telling someone not so fast, then not really following it up with anything visible really isn't going to slow Ilpholin down either. She just keeps on going towards the exit, carrying Raril even though he's coming to. Granted she keeps looking around and listening for the attack she expects to come after the finger clicking, but it's not there.

Shadow of the Sun
