For those who don't know, WTB?! stands for What the 'Boop'?! It's a little something from Erfworld that I liked.

The purpose of this thread is to share and discuss those moments in Order of the Stick that make us do a double-take at our screens just to be sure that, yes, Rich actually did just do that with the comic/characters. Those moments that come straight out of left field, catch us off-guard, and are all the more awesome because of it.

The one I consider the most quintessential is one that, by Rich's own admission in a Book 1 commentary, came pretty much out of left field for him too. That moment is Fruit Pie the Sorcerer. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0091.html) I've yet to see him do anything else in the comic that is quite as totally random as that one was.

There have been some... "I'll smoke what he is smoking" moments, yes. This is (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0301.html) one of my favorite OOTS strips.

I'll probably be ninja'd, but "Disintegrate! Gust of Wind" had me staring at the screen with my jaw on my keyboard for about 30 seconds.

Tsukiko's comments on how the undead are better than humans, and how she'll win Xykon's heart. I didn't expect her to be that delusional. :smalltongue:

+1 for this. Not for jaw-droppage, but simply because it was a rare case of a character doing exactly what I would have done if I was playing them.

The Tiny Refreshing Gods were probably too far out there for me. I just went "Duh". Same applies to Fruit Pie. But that's just me.

Some of the biggest "no, he can't do THAT" moments are given to us courtesy of Team Evil. I'm thinking of this (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0541.html) , and, of course, this (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0448.html). Also, fairly high in the list of the totally unexpected: the final two panels here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0463.html).

The planet within the planet. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0672.html)

What probably made it more "WHAT?!" for me was that I had a completely unfounded theory that World 1.0 was inside of the Snarl or something. Granted, that may not be the case, but the similarity--plus the possibility that a wild theory is correct--made me go. :smalleek:

Plus how left-field the whole thing is.

+1 to this. Seriously, if the MITD can tell you're out of it there's a serious problem.

One that hasn't been mentioned is here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0605.html)when Shojo shows up. At first, I didn't realize it was a hallucination, so that was a WTB moment for me.

Check out Elagune's manga-fied version (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134764) (not hyperlinking lest it break the hosting site's bandwidth limits again and shut them down).

It looks epic

For me, the wearing of Kobolds by Belkar was kinda WTB?!?!?! when I first saw them.
