Help remembering old PC game requested

I recenly remembered sampling a pc game when i was about five years old in the 90's, and i want to go back and play it through, but i unfortunately can't remember enough about it to look it up. If someone can help me, it would be much appreciated.

This is all i remember:
the currency used is called a ducat
your uncle is missing or gone or something
It is staged POV, possibly a point and click adventure
it may involve time travel
and i seem to recall there being a hot air balloon at one point in the game.

still searching, i found out that some guy on reddit is trying to find the exact same game, and he gave the exact same info i did. also, something about a guru you need to find

he says it ran on windows 98, and i remember that as well, and if that is true, then we can eliminate the eighties.

i'll search all night long if i have to... this is driving me nuts.
