Rope Trick spell is used very commonly by the necromancer in our group and today while reading the specifics on it, I read the following: "The space holds as many as eight creatures (of any size)."... What does that mean? Is that based on the caster? Say that a halfling were to cast the spell, the extradimentional space would only hold 8 halflings? Or that if a dragon were to cast it, the space could hold 8 dragons? Generally it's not much an issue but in our last session, one of our characters was diseased and we were unable to determine how close we were (for risk of being contaminated, as it was contagious) to him because we couldn't determine the size. Any ideas how this might be understood? Thanks!

It means that a Halfling can hold 8 dragons. It's an arbitrary headcount rather than a space limit.

Yup how we always thought of it Doesn't matter the size of the caster it can upto to 8 creatures any size and there is just enough room that they aren't banging into each other but not so much space you can be 20 feet away from each other
