Has anyone ever published/homebrewed a drill-like weapon?

If so, would you mind pointing me in it's general direction?

That way, sir!

Seriously, I don't think there is in 3.5, but you could probably get away with putting a shuriken/chakram (or several) on a weapon and have them rotate on command with magic. It would probably be expensive for a single weapon, though.

Drat. I suppose I'll be forced to brew one myself, then...

It's for a... plan. A previously mentioned plan.

One that involves drills.

It wouldn't be far out to suggest that gnomes have drills. They're into technology and all that jazz. :smallamused:

Something along the lines of "Who the nine hells do you think I am?" being planned?

...You, my friend, have got it in one! Specifically, a standard class. I should be done by the end of the week with the mechanics...

You've got my attention!

You've got my attention!

It involves Psionics and ToB material, specifically some of the disciplines on this board.

I assume it gets Iron Heart Surge. Because, y'know. COURAGE.

Iron Heart and Sleeping Goddess (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5408276) are the two automatic disciplines, with a choice of one of five others at 1st and another at 5th.

Yeah, IHS is important.

A drill shouldn't be too difficult.
I came up with a chainsaw, which is not much more than 'Animate Rope' around a support.
What you need to do, is balance it against other weapons.
I did see a chart somewhere, which balanced weapons against each other and assigned simple/martial/exotic 'limits'.
Basically, I think a drill should be exotic, do a small amount of damage (say 1D4 or 1D6), and have a large critical (19-20/x3 or something).
Or, it should do damage similar to smokepowder weapons (if you roll max, roll again - add them up).

Either The Demented one or Krimm Blackleaf, I don't exactly remember which one, had a TTGL homebrew project. It included mecha and several drill like weapons.

Know about the mechs, but I haven't seen any drills there... Maybe...

This idea had potential. And by that, I mean:

Yours is the drill that will pierce the HEAVENS!

The closest thing I can think of is Dragonmech had buzzaxes, which are basically a greataxe with a chain along the blade and a steam engine to power the whole assembly. 2d8 x3, i think it was but it's been a long while since I've read that book.

I have a drill-like weapon, actually. Post #4 of my Measure of a Man project (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8311908&postcount=4), the third weapon down is the IA Power Staff, one half of which is a drill. The drill can be used on a prone, netted, or stunned opponent as a full-round action. This is an attack roll, and if you hit, you automatically crit on them (that's 4d10 damage). This obviously isn't exactly what you wanted, but it's a good place to start and can save you some time figuring out your own mechanics, if you'd like.

I think that's EXACTLY what he wanted, actually. Or at least something like it.

Yep, though something a bit weaker. Anyway, I'll see what I can do with that...

Make it a drill that will piece the heavens.

...Already working on it... I just need a bit more time and the Base Class will be up in the homebrew section...
