Ok, I was pondering over that there are a good amount of threads concerning the identity of MiTD, and that all of them (besides Snorlax) have some flaw that removes them, though please correct me if wrong on that.

So my thought was this.
1. It is a D&D monster, not magical homebrew
2. It seems as if it is not in any 3.X (correct me if wrong)

Has anyone ever considered, that MiTD might be a monster from 1e or 2e? I don't know of a specific monster, but I want to know what you, the playground, think of this.

Well, all the monsters that weren't updated to 3.5 were kept in Dorukan's dungeon. :P

no, all the 1e or 2e monsters were trapped in the Dungeon of Dorukan until nale freed them (and they're probably dead anyway)

Hmm...did it say that it lured every (specifically) or is that implied under the "puts all outdated creatures under your control" section Nale mentioned. If so, its a shame, I thought I'd be onto something.

Well, here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0055.html) it says "to bring all" unupdated monsters under the wearer's control, so I'm thinking it'd include him.

Yes, that idea has come up once or twice. Never with an actual suggestion that works as well as or better than the front runners in the discussion thread, however.

I'm pretty sure the giant only said we'd recognize it, he didn't say its actually a D&D monster from any edition.
I mean it could be... I don't know, David Hasselhoff and we'd all (or probably most of us) would recognize him... But I admit, I doubt the MitD is actually David Hasselhoff :)

Oh and so I don't get scrubbed for spam, what do you guys think of Pit Fiend?
About the right size, arhctypical, incrediable strength, cool looking yet ugly yet awespiring, and the mental issues could just be it being too lazy to think. It learnt GO quickly enough

No offence, but I think Pit Fiend has been mentioned at least as often as Tarrasque in all those "What is the MitD" threads.

I'm pretty sure Rich has said that yes, it is a D&D monster, because it'd be a bit crap if he went "AND IT TURNS OUT IT WAS A MONSTER I MADE UP LOL"

he said that that's something that was invented before OOTS, not specificly ''D&D monster''

Or click the "Search inside thread" botton at the top and enter a keyword, like what race you think is the solution, if someone suggested it before chances are good it will give you results :)

It's been suggested. Rich has said that it isn't a monster he created meaning all of fictional is open: 1st edition, 2nd edition, 3rd, 3.5, all monster movies, all myths and legends, anything is pretty much a legit guess.

There's already an official thread to discuss the mitd (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=156178), you should go there.
I'm surprised this thread hasn't been already locked.
