Jutting out of the side of Overlook Waterfall like some sort of weird catherdral that got turned on it's side and converted into a fortress, is the WATCHTOWER.
Who built it? Unknown (A sect of mages known as the Dillinites). What purpose does it serve? Unknown (Dillinite Forward Command Base). How do people even know about these things? A sort of sixth sense, really, which tells everybody in Acronymia when a new thread is created (Unknown).

Previously abandoned, the WATCHTOWER has now been refurbished, thanks to the constant attentions of the members. However, due to recent events it still bears several craters and battle damaged bits and the like.

OOC NOTES & RULES

No destroying the place, or doing something to it that'll produce a similar effect (for example, no placing a massive time freeze on the entire area forever), unless it's part of an epic plot, and you've run it through me. You're allowed to damage it, but destroying it just takes the fun out of it for all the other players.
No godmoding/godmodding. Even if it's permitted in some ACRONYMs, it isn't in the WATCHTOWER. The occasional mishap's OK, repeated offense isn't.
Please try and keep posts longer than one or two lines of speech. Description is appreciated. One-or-two-liners that don't do much are OK once in a while - but not regularly.
If you want random smashy hahaN00BlulzFun, here's not the place. Anything spammy, random, or just plain annoying, can go! Of course, if your silliness is in moderation and well-roleplayed, and considerate of other players, then welcome in.
Romance/Fanservice/Secks/WOOHOO!/Whateveryawannacallit is acceptable here, but remember to curtain once it goes past the snuggling stage, and be aware that there may be IC repercussions for dropping the curtain whenever you're online, as this is a thread with a mission. And said mission does not involve f***ing like rabbits.

THE BUILDING

Ground Level/First Floor

Courtyard - A courtyard, surrounded by walls. Bare, and pretty much uncultivated, the courtyard is filled with grass, wild flowers and bomb craters. A gravel path leads from the main gates (or rather, what's left of them) to the main entrance. Off to one side is a well and an small, overgrown apple orchard, dotted with stones carved with fading runes of growth and plenty. Off to the other is what might have once been a vegetable garden, and a large animal pen, which is now an ad hoc stable building for the rare occasion people bring horses or other animal mounts to the WATCHTOWER. Near the building, against the cliffs, construction golems are building a sort of lift to the gantry up above.
Main Room - A sort of wide, square lounge area. There are several low tables and comfy chairs. To one side is a 'fireplace' which is really just a stone recess occupied by the illusion of a fire, and several heating glyphs (restored by KR). No chimney, you see. Several torch brackets hang on the walls but are empty. Light here is provided (as in all rooms of the building) by glyphs in the ceiling. At the back are three doors, leading to the barracks and stairway. Near the fireplace is a secret panel that when pressed by an active member opens up a Doorway to the Safe Room. Non-members pressing the panel will have no result.
Stairway - A small square room dominated by a spiral staircase which leads up the tower, to identical such small square rooms on every floor. Has two doors, which lead to the Main Room and Kitchen.
Kitchen - A kitchen. It contains modern kitchen equipment. It's also square. Has a door leading to the stairway. Has never been visited. Ever. For shame, people.
Barracks (East) - An 'L' shaped corridor, which leads off to several bunk rooms. Each room was originally designed to house four soldiers, but has since been re-furbished to provide a sort of quarters for a single (or perhaps two) member(s).
Barracks (West) - An 'L' shaped corridor, which leads off to several bunk rooms. Each room was originally designed to house four soldiers, but has since been re-furbished to provide a sort of quarters for a single (or perhaps two) member(s). One of the rooms has become a miniature shrine to the Demon Dalachrech, Lord of Invertebrates.
Showers - A shower room accessible at the end of each barracks corridor.
...
Wait wait wait, public showers? How barbaric! :smallyuk: Public MIXED-SEX Showers? How... Yeah, it's barbaric. :smalltongue:

Second Floor

Stairway - A small square room dominated by a spiral staircase which leads up the tower, to identical such small square rooms on every floor. Has four doors, which lead to the Library, Offices, Infirmary and Labs.
Library - A large room, with a large window that overlooks the courtyard. In the center of the room is a statue, perhaps a shrine to some long-forgotten god of knowledge, that has been covered with a purple cloth, and a sign that warns 'Do Not Remove Upon Pain of Death.' How strange. Radiating out from the statue are masses upon masses of shelves, upon which sit books on all topics, but mostly magic. At one wall is a secret panel that when pressed by an active member opens up a Doorway to the Safe Room. Non-members pressing the panel will have no result.
Offices - A sparse room that doesn't see much use. The office contains a back-up mainframe, as well as filing cabinets where hard copies of important information (and member forms) are stored. The offices also provide storage space for the dozen or so Construction Golems that were left behind.
Infirmary - A stark white clean room, with several partitions. Each segment contains a bed, as well as various medical equipment both magical and technological. The beds themselves are sturdy, quite comfortable, and also have straps if restraining the patient is necessary. There are several shelves in each section containing medicine and healing herbs and stuff.
The Labs - Previously where the Dillinite mages performed unholy experiments and summoned volatile beasts. The first room is a semi-circular one, which leads to four labs which are separated from the 'main' room by thick blast doors and decontamination chambers. Access to this room is restricted to Members only, or guests accompanied by a Member, as determined by a magical handscanner. The four labs vary wildly in appearance, due to the differing styles of the resident MAD SCIENTISTS (and mages). Each one, however, contains magical interface panels linked to computers, which can be used to control laboratory functions.

Third Floor

Stairway - A small square room dominated by a spiral staircase which leads up the tower, to identical such small square rooms on every floor. Has four doors, which lead to the Security Room, Arena and the two Vaults.
Security Room - Access restricted to Members only, as determined by a magical handscanner. If WATCHTOWER were a ship, this would be the bridge. Overlooking the courtyard, this room is filled with magical interface panels which control the base defenses, internal and external, as well as the prison cells. Computer wires and ports interlink with the panels, converting mana signals into binary, allowing control from one of the computer terminals in the room for the less magically inclined. The computers are also wired to the WATCHTOWER mainframe, which is located in this room, allowing for access to the main database. The mainframe can only be accessed from the computers in this room. Internal defenses include magical forcefields in every doorway that can be activated singularly, or all together in an emergency. External defenses include extra strong magical forcefields on the main gate and doors, as well as magical forcefields over the windows. There are also a variety of cunning magical traps buried in the courtyard and the path to WATCHTOWER, that may be deployed for explosive effect. Forcefields may remain active for roughly 4 hours before having to recharge (for 24 hours), or until they are beaten down or dispelled. Traps take a roughly 12 hours to recharge. Simply dispelling the forcefield or traps (or indeed, any of the various glyphs in the building) only deactivates them. More powerful spells (like a Mage's Disjunction, for instance) must be used to get rid of them permanently. At one wall is a secret panel that when pressed by an active member opens up a Doorway to the Safe Room. Non-members pressing the panel will have no result.
Arena - A large, squarish (and yet also roundish) Arena. It's been somewhat refurbished as a training room/gymnasium, with some training equipment, a few dummies and bags and a weapon's rack.
Prison Cells - A 'C' shaped corridor that surrounds the Arena. The prison cells are actually along the inside of the C, allowing them to open up directly into the Arena. Something that the Dillinites used regularly, to much enjoyment. The cells are sparse, three walled affairs containing a chamberpot and a mattress. The rear wall is hinged, to open into the Arena. The front of the cells is barred, of course, and the bars can be magically charged or supplemented by a magical forcefield, activated from the Security Room.
Vaults (East) - An 'L' shaped room, this particular Vault acts as an armory, containing racks of weapons and armor (magical or not) left behind from the Dillinite days, as well as a few extra additions.
Vaults (West) - An 'L' shaped room, this particular Vault holds some gold, and would hold other items of great value (including artifacts) except there aren't any. Has higher security and more traps and forcefields than the other vault, except there's nothing much to guard. Sorry! Come back later and try again.

Basement

Safe Room - A large room located deep underground, filled with mattresses and several months of consumables. Virtually impregnable, and accessible from the main building only via secret Doorway in the Main Room, Library, Security Room or Observatory. The Doorway may also be used to return to any of these locations (even by non-members, if they entered through different means or as a guest). In the back is a small door that leads to the Escape Tunnel. There is also a large bronze door, locked and inscribed with runes of sealing and warding, which leads to the Catacombs. This room is teleport proof, scry-proof, psi-proof, spy-proof, teleprot proof, and whatever other proofs you care to imagine (including 180-proof!) save for Epic MagicTM.
Escape Tunnel - A long tunnel. It leads to a hidden one-way trapdoor further south, near the Taverna Generica.

Catacombs

A bunch of catacombs and stuff below the basement. Excitement and plots sure to be found here, as well as a viable avenue for a sneak attack. This isn't technically, part of the building, merely a network of DungeonsTM under it. NO probably has a tunnel leading into here. If not, they're being painfully lax with their network.

Observatory Level

Observatory - Accessible through a trap door at the top of the spiral staircase. The room is enclosed at the front half by a tremendous glass dome, which serves as the focus for the powerful scrying spell etched all around. In the center is a raised circular viewing platform, with more runes etched around. On three sides are magical interface panels linked to computers like in the Security Room. The computers here are partially networked to the Security Room computers, and allow searching to a copy of the Central Database. The computers and interface panels are primarily used, however, to control the view from the observatory. The scrying spell is capable of reaching across a large area of the planet, as well as deep space. Things can also be viewed from any angle, eliminating conventional obstacles, however things underground or inside buildings cannot be seen. The scrying can of course be severed, blocked or traced back to its source using magic. There is a door to the side of the Observatory that leads to the Airship Gantry. At the back wall, opposite the Gantry door is a secret panel that when pressed by an active member opens up a Doorway to the Safe Room. Non-members pressing the panel will have no result.
Airship Gantry - Jutting out the side of the cliff, and even slightly set into it for protection, is an large gantry, accessible from the Observatory, which acts as the dock for WATCHTOWER's Zeppelin, which has yet to be named. It's pretty awesome. There is room for expansion, and the WATCHTOWER construction golems are starting to build a large lift so that land-based vehicles and mounts can be stored up here as well.

::Vehicles::

A large, heavily armored zeppelin with psychedelic patterns painted all over the envelope, as well as a pair of angry eyes and mouth. The gondola, while not as eye-blindingly colorful, has a memorial to Butler B. Butler painted on the side. The zeppelin has a rather large cargo hold, as well as a separate bomb-bay, which can drop rather large bombs (though they are currently in rather short supply). It's armed with a rather heavy variety of weapons, including: two disruptor quad-cannons mounted in the aft of the envelope (one ventral, the other dorsal); two heavier disruptor quad-cannons mounted on either side of the gondola and two long-range flamethrowers mounted on the fore. The thing is powered by one of DC's zero-point modules, and can pretty much stay aloft and fire forever, carrying no fuel except for that which goes in the flamethrowers. It has energy shielding, though prolonged use cuts into the ship's energy supply significantly.
A smaller airship stolen from Lethargia, built for transport. It has controls, two seats for the pilot and co-pilot, and cages in the back for prisoners. It's presumably driven by combustion engines and propellers. Not after KR's done with it, though.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - Submit a Question today!

What the hell is WATCHTOWER's purpose, anyway?
An excellent question! And one that I've just noticed is not answered in the OP in any way! Which is terrible! Anyway, whereas GLoG concerns itself with redeeming evil-doers (and healing the sick and sheltering refugees etc.), HALO smites them and AMEN are them, WATCHTOWER doesn't typically concern itself with concepts of good and evil in any way. Rather, WATCHTOWER exists to deal with massive scale threats to the Nexus, like apocalypses or vast demonic invasions. Of course, given that evil-doers tend to be the ones who cause those things, WATCHTOWER tends to be pitted against the forces of evil more often than not, but is unlikely to concern itself with muggings, murders or exploding taverns. Also, calling WATCHTOWER a 'Good' organization is likely to draw the ire of some of the more omnicidal members around.

This OP will be subject to updates, so even though major updates will be posted or generally mentioned in the Nexus OOC thread, it would be advisable that you check back regularly. Also, whenever this thread reaches 50, I'd ask no-one else start the new thread, at least until all the pictures are in, or until I say okay.

Andrew does as told going over to KR and holding his hands over her. There is a faint glow of darkness around his hands as he tries to draw the bad magical energy out of KR and into a small dark orb between his hands.

Repost of Andrew's last actions in new thread.

Ilyena gets glared at. Then Dominic turns back to Rebecca, muttering something about positive energy.

Ilyena is not Dominic's favourite person right now!

Ilyena reacts with surprise. I fail to see what I did wrong. It's a treatment that's always worked in the past.

But, you know, that would mean one of Chumley's characters did something helpful. And we can't be having that, can we?

Ashen Lilies
2010-09-11, 09:12 PM
Of course not. :smalltongue:

Description pl0x. How does Andrew do it, and how powerful is he? The contamination is pretty strong, and tangled up in a whole variety of exciting ways, and it's doubtful it would really be that simple.

Dar leans back, watching the magic with fright and curiousity. He remains quiet, however, and stops swaying along with his humming.

You didn't even check! You didn't even look to see what was wrong with her! Just blasted away with positive energy! There are always complications! Always! Noone ever checks! Positive energy is dangerous and frequently unpredictable! He shouts at Ilyena.

Woah. Might have hit a nerve here.

He sighs, and rubs his temples.

Look, I know you were just trying to heal her, and because of what you've done, quite a lot of those people won't need much more help. Just... just check next time.

Dominic doesn't like positive energy. Could you tell? :smalltongue:

ApeofLight
2010-09-11, 09:21 PM
Specifically? He's basically slowly converting his own life force into magical energy and using it to 'feel' what's wrong/figure out how to undo it.

In the case of this problem he's following the patters of magical energy and undoing them from KR and any other magical effects currently effecting her. He then takes the undone magic energy and is storing it in a new way. An evil black marble.

And he can go until he either A:passes out or B:dies. Probably A will happen first that will be a significant amount of power being used.

Moff Chumley
2010-09-11, 09:25 PM
Ilyena takes an deep breath, as if he's about to start lecturing Dominic on why he's wrong, why he didn't have time to check, why everyone in the room at the point in time he cast the spell was healed by it (except for the dragon who was apparently done for anyhow)...

But he just walks away.

Ashen Lilies
2010-09-11, 09:32 PM
Andrew... fails! Mostly because the magical contamination is the only thing preventing someone from just waltzing in and pressing the LOL I GOTZ DA HEALIN' MAGIKZ button on KR and fixing everything. And that's no good at all. >.>

Oh gods, another casualty. Dominic says, rushing over to Andrew, and attempting to pick him up and put him on a bed.

Then he'll try and see if the magical contamination on KR stops any kind of magic working, or just healing.

Ashen Lilies
2010-09-12, 12:13 AM
Any kind. It's not like an anti-magic field or anything, it just tends to react in funny ways with foreign magic. Dominic should know, however, that the contamination will fade with time.

Jeremy is easily carried to his room. Shawna will notice that he's much lighter than he should be however, and the places where he was burned are going to take a long time to heal. Even though he was healed with negative energy, the positive left a very bad impression.

Shawna sets Jeremy in his bed, then pulls a chair over to sit next to him, reaching out to softly put her hand atop one of his.

"We won. I think."

Through cracked lips, Jeremy manages a slight smile. "Good." he says before going into a painful coughing fit. He had figured that healing magic would hurt him badly, but had hoped it wouldn't be this badly. The blade in his left hand steams as he holds it close before it finally melts away into the shadows made by his arm.

B time! Alright!

We're going to need to operate. You a surgeon? He asks the doctor that DC brought. Need to get these bullets out, I don't have any idea how my magic will affect her. We'll set the bones while she's under.

Dominic's gonna be sooooo annoyed if Jeremy dies because he wasn't taken to the infirmary. :smalltongue:

You came.

Don't try and talk. I'll take care of...

I go. You stay. I will miss you.

Don't leave me alone... Raven begged.

Hrafn, shut up... I leave three parts of me in this world. My hatchling. My blood. My breath. Fight well, my friend.

The body slowly faded away, dissipating into a hollow wind that swept through the room, leaving Raven behind. Alone.

"...how did you get this information?" DC's currently staring at the screen, half in utter confusion at the KR duplicate and half in rage at Reinholdt.

The confusion part is probably why he hasn't just used that personal teleporter of his to go to Taverna to kill Reinholdt already.

Eventually, Raven gets to his feet and goes to the infirmary, where he begins using non-magical herbal medicine to try and heal KR. Not because he knows about the magical contamination (although it's probably on her chart by now) but because he still hasn't recovered from all the healing he did back on Zephyr Island. It's still the same day for him.

Getting another idea entirely, Magtok turns around, and promptly hovers over to Darcy. A note is passed into her hand, with "READ IT AND BURN IT" written in pen at the top.

Hold on, you said you wanted the directions to Lulz earlier, right?

Magtok then turns back towards his office before he can get an answer.

Below, it details Ebon's plans to end the world, the fact that Gordon probably has known all along, and that since Ebon was the one to reprogram the minions, the only trustworthy NPCs in the area are his own MagBots. It says to talk to him about the matter later, in the office, and to consider going on an off-base mission very soon before things get ugly.

He's laid surgical equipment on a tray next to KR's bed.

Does anyone in here know basic first aid? He asks the infirmary at large. Just, patch her up, and I'll try and get to her. He says, pulling a large canister of amnesiac gas of some sort to the side of KR's bed.

He'll put her out/make sure she stays asleep with it, before beginning the surgery.

Then KR will likely find that the bullets have been removed, along with the splinters of bone if that's appropriate treatment for a splintered bone or two, Bill doesn't know. Her stomach and lung will have been stitched up, in a way that's completely medically safe and probably won't cause any uncomfort.

She'll have a small scar on her stomach and her collarblade.

Bones are set and she'll have thick binding around her waist to protect ribs, and her arm will be in a sling to stop movement of her collarblade.

She'll be wearing one of those hospital gowns. Of course the infirmary has them.

And she'll probably be recovering from the anasthesia.

Her condition has been downgraded to: Not about to die right now.

This means that Dominic has gone to work on Rebecca, sending the other doctor to work on Susan.

The doctor will be mainly focusing on her thigh, to make sure that she doesn't bleed to death from the important artery in it which Bill can't remember the name of.

Dominics hands are glowing a sickly green as he starts to attack the curse which is trying to turn most of Rebecca into metal.

FireFox

Yeah, I heard about that. Thanks. He briefly becomes serious, then smiles again and steps in. Anyway, Rein and I think we can really throw a wrench in his works, so we're not asking you to come in until things get really bad. Rest up and finish recovering, and we'll call in the cavalry later. I don't think this Ebon Mirror guy is close to ending the world, but Rein says he definitely wants to.

Morty
2010-09-14, 07:58 AM
Wenomir snorts. I suppose Reinholdt can be believed on that issue. He made it clear he doesn't want the world to end last time he was in WATCHTOWER. Now, who is this guy, why does he want to end the world and what do you need an illusion scroll for?

FireFox
2010-09-14, 08:03 AM
Reinholdt said he was an "Abyssal Exalted" the first time we talked about him. He says he's kind of a nihilist who wants to end everything. Oh, supposedly he was able to turn another Exalted, my sister-in-law Shrike, over to his side. I don't know how that happened, but I know she's tough. He shakes his head and sighs. If things get really rough, and they're stronger than I am, I have an idea for a specific illusion that will give me a very strong advantage, I think.

Morty
2010-09-14, 08:11 AM
Another one who thinks we're all better off dead, eh? Wenomir's education most definetly didn't contain words such as "nihilist", but after meeting Rein a couple of times, he learned what it means. I can see Shrike fighting by this guy's side. He still hasn't got over that one assasination attempt at a GLoG member. What sort of illusion is it?

FireFox
2010-09-14, 08:16 AM
Exactly. He bites his tongue about Shrike, personally believing she wouldn't want to willingly end the world, since she seemed adamant about not taking jobs that hurt kids. Oh, I don't want to get into specifics... Suffice to say, I think it might be my greatest PsyOps idea yet. He grins at the demonhunter.

Morty
2010-09-14, 08:29 AM
Alright, I'll take your word for it. I'll ask Ilyena about making that scroll when I meet him. What else do you know about this... Ebon Mirror?

FireFox
2010-09-14, 08:33 AM
Well... Rein's done his research. He mentioned something how he can't be defeated unless we get him to defend someone he cares about. But what does a world-ender care about? Rein isn't sure we can kill him, but he wants to do some reconnoitering and find out what his plans are. Then we'll just use hit and run tactics to keep him from ending the world, or whatever...

Morty
2010-09-14, 08:41 AM
Wenomir grumbles. Another superpowered godling, then. I don't suppose I'll be of much use. Anyway I can't believe I'm saying it, but Reinholdt might be right. We should proceed carefully.

FireFox
2010-09-14, 08:42 AM
Yeah... He shrugs and looks around. So, any news about AMEN?

Morty
2010-09-14, 08:45 AM
They seem to be mostly romping around, making noise. We had a scrap with them in a flying city some months ago and we need to retrieve a soul-stealing dagger from one of them that he took from GLoG after KR put it there for safekeeping. I think they also have plans to conquer Inside. Or at least their leader does, but they don't listen to him that much. At least based on Turtle relayed when she was spying on them.

FireFox
2010-09-14, 08:46 AM
Good, I'd much rather stay in GLoG and help people there, but... If they mess with my family one more time, I will kill every last one of them. It's a very cold, calm threat.

Morty
2010-09-14, 08:47 AM
What did they do to your family? Wenomir raises his eyebrow.

FireFox
2010-09-14, 08:50 AM
The Druid laughs. They tried to kidnap all of the GLoG children once, including my daughter, and I had to fight this teleporter called Jack. Then they kidnapped Daisuke's daughter, and I had to join AMEN in order to get her freed. After that I sort of blew their base up and escaped. Then their leader, this stupid dragon named Gordon, used blood magic to capture me... I rather doubt they'll try anything again.

Morty
2010-09-14, 08:57 AM
Wenomir nods solemnly. He had no idea Tobias has a daughter, but he hadn't met him for a long time before this visit. Good job. I met this Jack myself. He's the guy who has the dagger right now. Very dangerous and very annoying. AMEN has definetly changed from the bunch of clowns it used to be.

FireFox

Toby blinks. Jack has a soul-stealing dagger? Oh, that's great... Fantastic.

Morty
2010-09-14, 09:12 AM

FireFox
2010-09-14, 09:25 AM
Well, my wife is a paladin, so she can bring me back every time. So getting killed is just a way of retreating, a way they don't expect. They weren't expecting me to be a suicide bomber, so I was able to blow up half their base. Fun times. Isn't it a cunning tactic? He grins, not exactly looking the sanest...

Morty
2010-09-14, 09:34 AM

Well, I don't know about any secret passages or anything, but he'll probably be able to sense the infirmary. Lots of wounded people in there.

"A flaming sword? Can't say I've ever seen that. You should probably ask DC or Ilyena, they'de know more about it than me."

Merrak wonders about the flaming sword. Such an enchanted item couldn't be too rare, so it must be more powerful than usual flaming weapons or hiding some other secret. Hmm. Oh well, Merrak heads toward the infirmary to find DC to hand off the questioning "NOers" to.

Darkcomet

The psion tries to keep from seeming too annoyed, as he doesn't want to piss DC off, but he's not exactly feeling like a bundle of sunshine right now.

"This former servant of Kalebfiok or whatever, you should know, is now a middle school teacher." He frowns. "And even if he did still want the sword for Armageddon and whatnot, is it really all that important? I mean, how much more power is a flaming sword going to grant him? It can't be that important for ending the world, can it?"

He holds his hands out in a gesture of appeal. "C'mon. We're just trying to do our jobs. And we can still get paid for a broken sword."

Darkcomet
2010-09-14, 09:24 PM
Why are all the psychics irritable?

"Flaming sword filled with negative energy. It strengthens him. And giving it to him would give him a potential advantage in combat if he has it reforged." DC sighs. "Look. You're mercenaries. There's no profit in getting wiped out of existence, you know that?" It's all very simple, yet the mercs don't seem to get a simple concept like 'not giving weapons to apocalyptors!'

DC's day just keeps getting better and better.

Murkus

It's in the genes, I tell ya, right along with the psychic abilities.

"And what part of middle school teacher did you not understand?" He points off in the direction of PACK. "You can go check for yourself. That school? PACK? He teaches music there now. People trust him with their children."
More likely, people trust the school with their children, and trust them not to hire people who are evil maniacs. Of course, Admiral might not be an evil maniac any more. I guess we'll see.

DC rolls his eyes as Ordo forgets one very simple possibility. "Perhaps they simply don't know. But let me tell you something. A very significant amount of the attempts to end the world can be traced to one intelligent, talking cat, who also once worked for Calublufiok, and went on continuing that work for a time. Even without his boss's super-magic, he's still, ultimately, the root of the last one." Like DC needed another reminder of Reinholdt today. "When it comes to those who would kill us all, no one can be judged by something so simple as race or power. In this case, doubly so, considering those he worked for and with."

Murkus

Ordo sighs. "Then I suppose we're at an... impasse? Is that how it's pronounced?" He says it in a manner resembling 'impass'. Even I don't know if that's how to say it. The psion lets his arms hang down. "Frankly, I don't know if he'll do any sort of 'evil deed' with that sword. And frankly, I don't care. Caring is your job, not mine. And I'm sure you can do it well enough. Keep people from ending the world, and such? But you gotta figure, if he doesn't get this weapon back, he'll probably just make another anyway. It's not gonna matter."

The psion puts his hands in his pockets and heads for the door. He looks to be giving up. "You were right, Raz. Let's get out of here. Maybe we set up some negotations another time."

Well, Ordo hopes that they'd be neutral in affairs besides this specific job. He hopes Dipsnig would be able to work it out. He hopes Inside wouldn't find some excuse to come and trash NO.

But hopes are put aside for rage.

He whirls, eyes flashing gold with psionic might, and marches back towards DC. A distinct aggressiveness in his gait. He's probably shorter than the other psychic, so he might be less intimidating than a taller man.

DC might also notice one of Ordo's hands morph into a claw, a reflex from anger. "Are you trying to blackmail us, you son of a bitch?"

He's very direct.

A dark red forcefield springs into existence between Ordo and DC the moment the latter sees that the former seems to be readying himself for combat.

Then he goes on.

"I believe I'm trying to point out that being willing to work for the likes of him will ultimately end poorly. There will be a time when the Empire won't need me to tell them. What happens when they find out about something like this on their own? You won't have anyone's restraint or kindness to stop them then." Ordo might pick up that DC does believe what he's saying. "If you're too blind to see the big picture, however, then that's your problem, not mine. But I won't let you assist monsters like him because of your stupidity."

Murkus
2010-09-14, 10:28 PM
"We. Are. Neutral." He almost shouts, claw curling together an inch or two from DC's forcefield. "We are not stupid. We are not ignorant! We just don't care about your goddamned neverending battle between good and evil! Because us, and I'm sure a lot of other regular folks, are sick and tired of it!"

The psion suddenly no longer looks tired. Infuriated, lively, but not weary as he is usually. "We're normal people doing our jobs. Working hard for a day's pay. Sometimes we help people, sometimes we don't. But at least we aren't sitting on our asses most days, forgetting the average Joe's plight. And definitely not clinging to grand delusions of righteousness."

"From what I know, Watchtower may defend this world from threats, but it doesn't change anything. It doesn't make things better. It always stays the same. Maybe if you did your job a little better, it wouldn't!" The psion clenches his fists, trying to cool his anger. It will do him no good here.

"The Empire will understand. I hope they will. But I don't need you preaching in my face, pretending you're better! Or kinder, or smarter!"

Maybe that's not what DC intended, but it seems to have struck some sort of chord.

Darkcomet
2010-09-14, 10:55 PM
I think Ordo's rant was just the straw that broke the camel's back with regards to DC's restraint.

"You think I haven't tried to make a difference!? You think I haven't tried to help people!? You know nothing!" The forcefield DC put up suddenly moves forward, trying to shove Ordo away. "You don't know how many damn times I've tried, only to be betrayed, or have some nihilistic freak destroy everything I'd worked for! Never again, you hear me!?"

Ordo might notice a strange effect to some of DC's words (the italicized ones, specifically). They seem to have a strange psychic 'echo', as if being transmitted telepathically and spoken verbally at the same time.

He's really losing it.

"I won't let anyone help that happen again! Not the cat, not the lich, not any shortsighted idiot, not any nihilist, not anyone! I won't give them a damn micrometer! I won't let you help them!" The psychic is quite visibly shaking by this point, barely restraining himself from outright attacking.

"Get out. Now. And tell Dipsnig that if he insists on trying to retrieve the thing, I'll kill whoever he sends."

DC would probably have refused the card, alas.

"USELESS!? If not for us, you would no longer exist! And yet, you waste that by trying to get me to help you retrieve a weapon for one of those...those..." He trails off, not able to find a sufficiently offensive term for those who would try to end everything.

But there is one thing remaining.

Ordo might hear something else, this time a simple telepathic message.

Let me show you.

The message is followed by a series of images and telepathic commentaries being transmitted into Ordo's brain. It's not an actual link, unfortunately-Ordo thinking won't get a reply from DC, unless of course he initiates one himself, if he can.

The first is of Calublufiok's first defeat, in a cave and on a platform surrounded by lava (I think that was it, anyway), the lich being finished off by Wenomir. That would be one of our members killing Calublufiok.

The second is an image of the Felinian (catpeople) army marching on Inside, led by the Admiral. This one doesn't seem as clear, as if taken from a photograph of some sort-and not DC's own memory. The proof of what your client did is there.

The next is an image of a desert, marred by apocalyptic blizzard, earthquake, and lightning effects, along with something else DC-the-player doesn't remember, and he's not sure about the lightning one anyway. Whatever's correct is what's shown.

A towering tentacled monstrosity is in the center of the image, WATCHTOWER's airship further out, DC flying underneath it, with an orange energy cannon glowing brightly, and a telekinetically wielded rail gun. Yet he returned-and transformed himself-but I was more than happy to correct that. The image flickers, changing to one where DC is firing the cannon on the monstrosity, a gigantic beam bursting forth, soon followed by rail gun fire.

And much more recently... Another image comes, this one of KR sealing Shepherd's soul away. From the last one we stopped. Your friend's assistance was much appreciated, and she's being treated in the infirmary now.

We could let her die, but we won't. We could all say 'screw this' and leave everyone to fend for themselves. Wouldn't mind retiring, after everything. But someone's got to clean up the mess. GLoG is incompetent. You've aptly demonstrated that at least part of NO doesn't give a crap. Wonder what that friend of yours thinks about you helping that type after this. We're the only ones in this damn Nexus who seem to be willing and able to do anything.

Your opinion of me is irrelevant, but never call this organization useless.

Doesn't seem like DC noticed the chuckle. He makes no further move against Ordo or Raz.

Murkus
2010-09-15, 06:03 PM

You've kept us alive. And for that, I am grateful." He takes a deep breath. "But what have you improved? What have you changed for the better? Can you name one thing?"

Ordo opens the door for himself and Raz. According to the other thread, however, Raz has already teleported. So the psion prepares to go. "All you've done is retain the status quo. And that won't work forever."

He closes the door. No slam, just a quiet creak as he departs.

Because I don't play him enough, Trent (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8175094&postcount=508) stumbles into the kitchen. "What the hell...?"

Butler leads Gordon here! And brings him inside. Where he insists Gordon wait until he can go to the kitchen and get Gordon a good meal to eat. Which Butler does. And then all the stuff he was doing happens.

[Kitchen]

"Not hell sir. Decker lives there sir. This is the kitchen sir. Excuse me sir. Let me know if you want some stew as well sir." He holds the Vidalia onion in one hand and grabs the stew with the other in order to head back out to the Main Room and offer Gordon some stew.

In the Infirmary, KR starts to stir...

Morty
2010-09-17, 09:41 AM
Wenomir, who has just entered the infirmary after a training session, to apply new bandages and check on KR, notices the stirring and stands beside her bed.

Ashen Lilies

KR starts a bit, and her eyes open, staring at the ceiling for a moment before she realizes where she is.
"How long was I unconscious?" She asks, to no one in particular. It's like she expects someone to be standing beside her, just waiting for her to wake up. Or maybe she just sensed Wenomir's presence through the FORCE.

Morty

Wenomir crouches next to the bed. Five days.

Ashen Lilies
2010-09-17, 10:54 AM

Morty

Wenomir rubs his temple. Well, let's see... the doctors have been hard at work keeping you and the other wounded people alive. Two guys from NO came in to ask us to hand in some flaming sword. DC argued with them, audibly, and they left. Also, Tobias the druid arrived with info about another nutjob who wants the end the world. He sighs.

Morty

Let me get you some... Wenomir pours KR a glass of water, his player assuming there's bound to be some in the infirmary. He also glances worriedly at Raven.

Ashen Lilies

KR takes a sip of it, before seeming to grow tired, eyes heavy and her blinks lengthening until she's spending more time with her eyes closed than open.
"Hmm... 10 minutes awake, able to hold a conversation... not bad." She falls asleep again. Being comatose for nearly a week really does leave one exhausted...

Reinholdt
2010-09-17, 04:16 PM
"Right this way then sir!"

Butler starts to lead Gordon on the tour. Starting with the kitchen and the barracks and the showers and the courtyard and then the Main Room. Where we should probably pause as Butler waves happily at DC before intending to lead Gordon towards the stairs.

Darkcomet

Gordon does not go unnoticed, and pretty much instantly, he'll get a kinetic blast aimed at him, strong enough to send him flying-in human form, anyway. "Why the **** did you let him in!?" Well. At least DC gets a convenient reason to snap this time.

Reinholdt
2010-09-17, 04:22 PM

Gordon is sent into the wall.

"Ooff. Is this really the way to treat a guest?"

Morty
2010-09-17, 04:24 PM
Wenomir sighs when he hears the shouting and crashing and leaves the infirmary. He's still unarmored and unarmed, but that doesn't make him unthreatening. When he sees the situation, he says: I see.

Darkcomet
2010-09-17, 04:29 PM
"GUEST!? You expect me to treat you, the conqueror-wannabe ex-leader of AMEN, as a guest!?" DC reaches into a jacket pocket, and that beam rifle of his-currently with a black power cell in place-appears, pointed at Gordon.

At the same time, Gordon might get an odd sense of something reaching for him, as if invisible-psychic-tendrils are reaching out and trying to grab him by his limbs to keep him down.

This is really just a fancy way of saying 'it's telekinesis'. DC-the-player is just experimenting with ways to make it less difficult to use without it being unstoppable or anything like that.

"Give me a reason not to shoot you. And be quick about it."

ThePhantom
2010-09-17, 04:34 PM
Gordon's limbs are bound. But still he smiles.

"Simple Darkcomet, cause you need my help."

Reinholdt

Gordon has a plan to get out this if DC decides to get rougher, in case he doesn't believe him.

Morty
2010-09-17, 04:53 PM
We're a group dedicated to end threats. People who try to enslave cities count as "threats" in our book, even if they're not very effective. But, I suppose we might hear what you have to say... Wenomir looks at DC, uncertain.

Darkcomet
2010-09-17, 05:33 PM
DC distinctly does not explain his reasons for wanting Inside protected from AMEN. Gordon doesn't need to know these things.

"If you have something I give a damn about to say, say it. I have a feeling you didn't come here just to complain about us not liking you." He's awfully impatient, isn't he?

Of course, it's not like he hadn't already been irritated enough before this...

ThePhantom

"The Legion of Travesty, to which I am a member, is a group of us Shadowlanders who got together and decided to try and scare people over in this world. Of course, nobody with the ability to do so while still possessing a sound mind would never help us, so we turned to the Man with the Umbrella. We wanted some mostly harmless fun, but he's starting to let some violent guys in, like Gaius, his brother's all right, but he was a violent moron. I doubt its going to get any better either, so now I want portal to the Shadowlands, so the main populace of this world can see were not all bad. Also maybe introduce you all to diversity, honestly, all the races here look the same, cept for pointy ears or height and what-not."
Then all this business with the AMEN leader occurs and he goes silent.

"Ah yes, the moon. I understand there's already a plan in place to deal with it. And...Mirror. Hm. I already know about the obvious issue with the henchmen." Lousy spies. "I suggest that you kill them."

"Sorry, but that wouldn't work. But I'm working on fixing that. So, it looks like you have everything undercontrol then. Nothing going on that would wreck you day."

Gordon thinks for a moment.

"Oh yes. I need to ask you something or else I'll get in trouble when I get back."

Darkcomet
2010-09-17, 06:18 PM
"Can't you just rampage around the cloning tanks and kill them while they can't come back?" At least DC's guessing they're using the cloning tanks, since he does know AMEN uses them, at least. DC glares at Gordon. "Tell her I said that's none of her damn business. And I normally can. You came at a very bad time." What with dealing with Reinholdt and the stupid mercs already. Whoo fluffposts made out of boredom...

DC remains in his room looking over information in his own personal database, under the heading 'Enemies (Living)'.

Reinholdt (Prime)
The one that gassed GLoG. Currently unaccounted for. Utterly deranged. Had extreme regeneration capabilities before his death.

Kill upon discovery. Negative energy or elemental fire cells of VSW-002 likely effective against regeneration.

Reinholdt (Clone)
Magtok's little pet clone. Currently a non-issue, will eliminate the instant he crosses the line.

Has befriended someone who looks unnervingly like KR. At least I assume it was him. Awaiting opportunity for DNA analysis.

He and the other one deserve much more than death, but it'll have to do.

Ebon Mirror
Exalt. Evidently moving to take control of AMEN. Gordon is aware of his nature, thus probability of him taking over AMEN is low. Still problematic.

Likes using undead minions.

AMEN
With the lava cannon and Lethargia gone, the threat level from AMEN is vastly lower. Unfortunately, Turtle had to be removed from her position as a spy. Will rat Magtok out to the Empire should this become more of an issue again.

Gordon's insistence on trying to conquer Inside makes fighting AMEN very simple, given my alliance with the Empire, especially with the success of the Mortal Coil unit and IA Spec Ops Commandos.

Henchmen
Many apparently augmented with subcutaneous armor and arm-guns. Hopefully these should become a non-issue once Ebon Mirror is dealt with.

Cat Monsters
Encountered by Imperial commandos when they were disabling Lethargia. True capabilities unknown.

Gordon
Dragon. Wings are vulnerable to attacks, as Armitage demonstrated during the battle at Lethargia. Highly dismissive of others, easy to oust if he becomes the leader again. His insistence on trying to conquer Inside is a...problem, though the more reasonable AMENites seem to be inclined to keep him in check. Has a thing for kidnapping Marley for some reason.

Ilpholin
Apparently has an obsession with KR. Purple hair and...similarities to a nymph strike me as rather ominous. Kill on sight.

Jack Empty
Tough bastard. Survived a full blast from Armitage's stealth shuttle's laser weapons. Recommend area effect weapons rather than piercing. Fire apparently somewhat effective, given performance of VSW-002's elemental fire cell against him. A member of the group opposing Gordon's highly aggressive behavior.

Moff
Many clones, against AMEN making itself a large target. Useful for manipulating events against Gordon.

Magtok
Head of MagCorp corporate empire. Likely to cave in under threats of sufficient power. Quite cooperative when it comes to dealing with apocalypses. Still warrants caution. Similar to Jack and Moff in his stance against Gordon.

NO
Mercenaries, apparently willing to work for those trying to end the world, given enough pay. Should they become an issue again, report their work with the Admiral to the Empire, regardless of whether or not suspicions of his motives are correct. He's still a war criminal, even without that, and the Empire won't appreciate them working for him very much.

Likely a non-issue in the long run, given ample blackmail material.

The Admiral
Former lich minion of Calublufiok. Led the Felinian assault on Inside and GLoG. Wants his sword back. Too bad it's broken.

Apparently somehow came into ownership of a soul-eating dagger. Dagger currently in NO's custody as I await further information on him.

Not particularly powerful. Positive energy recommended regardless, due to undead status.

Atropus
Undead Elder Evil moon. Armitage informed me that he met someone who had encountered it before, and reported that he detected a higher-than-normal level of ambient negative energy. This likely means that Atropus radiates negative energy.

It's possible that I could modify a few MACEs to radiate positive energy to counteract the effects somewhat, should the worst come.

I have already contributed to the joint effort to eliminate it. Hopefully the Empire and the Spheres won't disappoint.

General Drelin
The bastard who destroyed my life.

General Vettel reported a satellite sighting of the Spectre sending a smaller craft fleeing before entering a massive portal. Current location unknown.

I hope he doesn't come back. But if he does, I'll kill him myself.

Gods know it's overdue.

He's a cyborg, making acting based on his age rather unintelligent. Kill quickly, preferably, and avoid long-range combat, as he's a sniper. Likely to be aboard the Spectre. Beware of heavy bombardment and sudden attacks.

KR-15
One of my greater mistakes, but also my greatest success.

K-Corp's sudden destruction does not bode well. '15 was smart enough to not just let that happen. He's almost certainly still out there.

Where...where, I don't know.

Resistant to traditional anti-droid weapons. Recommend high-powered weapons. Voidsteel dagger likely effective, though getting into melee range could be a problem.

Ashen Lilies

KR undeadtimes where she's spent the past few days, in the infirmary. Though she might not actually have to stay in much longer. Another week, at most, perhaps thanks to the healing trance she's been using. In fact, she's been healing exceptionally well, even by her standards, though her hip, for instance, remains too fragile to walk on, and thus she's still confined to her bed. She sits up in the steel bed, leaning against the back (lower spine supported by cushion), dressed in that high-necked green medical gown with the clasps at the back (indeed, this may be the only time she's ever been without trousers), dozing with eyes closed, perhaps thinking about how to deal with the various situations she's likely been kept up to date on during her intermittent hours of wakefulness during her player's internetlessness. Instructions too, would have been issued, and assuming they were followed, the jars containing Cynthia and Shepherd would have been locked in a secure steel box in the vaults, awaiting further protective measures.

The nightmarish being shifts its position to get a good look at Weonmir, the eyes within its hood of a head move around as if in a bowl of water. Presently I await for him to resume. "

I assume that by "leader" you mean DC. Wenomir makes no effort to correct the creature. Although DC and KR aren't leaders of WATCHTOWER, he thinks of them as such - simply because he's too used to obeying someone's orders. Should I fetch him?

Susan is now getting the medical attention of both Dominic and nameless doctor, with the name less doctor patching up the bullet wounds that weren't near a major atery while Dominic's hand glows a sickly shade of green.

He'll pass his hand over her thigh a couple of times, checking it out. If there's no magical interference or any major complications, he'll attempt to plunge his hand into her thigh, his magic hopefully causing her clothing and flesh to flow over his hand as he reaches for the bullet. He'll try and pull the bullet out, her flesh and clothing probably flowing back together neatly.

Rebecca has a circular bandage on her shoulder, surrounding what Dominic could get the curse down to, which is a small metal spot, about 10cm in diameter. There's an IV drip to her arm, with some pale blue liquid that seems to glow pulsing through it. It appears to be healing the necrosis, so it's probably some form of positive energy. The lightning burns have a thick, sage-green paste on them.
