View Full Version : A Character With ALL Classes

Here's a very hypothetical idea. What if there was a 3.5 DnD character that was gestalt with every single 3.5 class ever released? Let's say a 32 point buy. It would still get any special class abilities of dual progression classes, but wouldn't gain additional caster levels from them. They would however be barred from any classes they don't qualify for, for example dwarven defender if they aren't a dwarf or paladin if they're not lawful good. What kind of ridiculous combos would this character be capable of? What type of stuff could they do at different levels? What sort of foes would be a worthy challenge for them?

The problem is that no matter how many classes it has gestalted, it still has the same action economy as everybody else so it would always focus on using the most powerful choice available. Since magic >>>>>> non-magic, focusing on the mental stats with an 18 in preferably Int for delicious Wizard/Psion/Archivist/Artificer/Factotum goodness would be preferable. You'll always have the right spell/power/item for every occasion with plenty to spare.

Well the main boost would be in versatility with the many different spells you have available. Even though they're all the same level as usual you could still do some crazy things with so many high level spell slots each with a different spell to choose from. So... in theory not any more powerful, but in practice way more powerful as your spell would always match the encounter and you wouldn't run out of your highest spell level. Even with loads of quickened spells. You could also cast an obscene number of morning buffs with your lower level spell slots, since you'll never need to use anything but your highest level spells in combat. That could translate to some fantastic martial abilities to one shot any creature vulnerable to martial attacks, which, in spite of the hype given casters, is most creatures. The rest you handle with spells.

And here I was just wondering what would be the most beneficial order to take all of them.

I'm assuming PrCs are only added after they qualify, so...hmm. Can wield most weapons at level 1... and gets every one at level 6 when getting Master of Masks 1.

Hmm, a simple stupid melee trick... Not sure if it's legal though... Combine Iajutsu Focus, Gnomish Quickrazor, and Sneak Attack + Sudden Strike + Skirmish + Charge + Pounce?

While having a whole bunch of pets to flank with.

What happens if you can turn undead and then gain rebuking? Retain both options or even up stuck with rebuking?

Depends upon level really. At 1st level you're a focused transmuter or conjurer (I'm thinking Conjurer for the ACF from PHBII although the summoning ACF might be a fun one too) with cleric healing, a druid's animal companion, as many defensive swordmage boosts as you can find, your fighter bonus feats can be used to help qualify for PrCs, plus psychic warrior ones for more sweetness. 32 Point Buy hurts a fair bit and actually I might focus on blasting spells or at least the sorcerer side and go pseudo Cindy what with the +10d6 sneak attack, +10d6 sudden strike, +5d6 skirmish, +favored enemy, they just got noticeably better; also with the Dread Necromancer and Warmage you have Necromancy, and Evocation covered with Charisma using Sorcerer to pick up utility spells and some sorcerer only spells. Also you go unarmed swordsage and take Kung Fu Genius so you're now adding all your mental ability scores to AC (Int, Wis from Ninja, and Cha from Battle Dancer). You can completely dump Str and Dex from 6th level on with wild shape and Natural Spell. Make sure to fulfill the prerequisites for Incanatrix, Dweomerkeeper, and Planar Shepherd also get into Master Specialist and Malconvoker.

Also Rainbow Servant means that starting at level 15 you can cast all cleric spells spontaneously as either a warmage or dread necromancer.

Also, depends how what sort of mixing you let with variant classes and ACFs, or if it's all the vanilla versions... And whether deleterious classes are allowed to not be taken, such as Blighter or Ur-Priest.

Oh, and you get every stat but Strength to AC, what with Stoneblessed and Deepwarden. Occasionally multiple times, in the case of that Con to AC thing, if I'm remembering correctly.

And rage... and who knows what else. Ya melee is also looking a bit obscene even without buffing yourself. Knocking out foes with damage seems like the first option to anything vulnerable to it. Or maybe wall off some enemies then move in to kill the rest.

It depends whether they're the same ability or not. If they are the same, gestalt rules wouldn't let you get it more than once. I think turn/rebuke under basically are the same ability, just expressed differently varying on your alignment. However I'm sure some class has its own uniquely different rebuke and/or turn ability that might count as different from what a cleric gets, so it could get that too. Of course, you're still bound by alignment restrictions, which could either prevent you from getting a class or prevent you from using some class abilities, which would probably come into play with turn/rebuke.

For simplicity let's say it's all standard versions, and you don't have to take any classes you don't want.

Aren't there around 70 base classes?

I have no idea. But you'd get all the PrCs too.

There are about 700 PrCs I think. And those only in official WotC books.

But why would I want Alienist?

oh no

That means he'd get War Hulk and suddenly lose access to so much!

Don't worry about War Hulk. The first thing I thought when I read the first post was 'crap, at level one that thing does way too much damage', and the second thing I thought was 'do I even want to know how many spells per day it gets?'

And now, I think I really don't.

however if you took all the base classes leveling would be REALLY slow

Wait, there are a lot of PrCs that advance casting. So your level 1 dude can cast like high level casters of lots of the caster classes.

Gestalt so the +1 casting from PrCs don't matter. Now Ur Priest, and other PrCs who have their own casting they do get.

Of course, with that huge wall of spells per day from all of the divine classes, probably don't wanna grab Ur-Priest.

Let's see, maneuvers, binding, a boatload of essentia, shadowcasting, arcane, divine, infusions, invocations, bonus feats, abilities that only work in light armor, ASF, psionics, mantles, marshall auras, draconic auras... Truenaming...

How do Gestalt rules work with power points? Does Classy only get the power points of the class that grants the largest reserve or does 'e get all of them from all classes that grant them?

Don't ever become large. Qualifying for War Hulk is far too easy.

Last I counted it was around 48. Not counting 3rd party and Dragon magazine.

I wonder how this character at level one would compare against a higher level of a different class. For example Uber Gestalt 1 versus say wizard 10 or fighter 20. I mean, you'd think that being weak in every class wouldn't compare to being powerful in one, but without knowing how they all interact it's hard to say.

Another question. Who do you think would win in a fight: Uber Gestalt 20 or a lesser deity?

Well, if I understand Gestalt, Uber Gestalt still only has +1 BaB, 1d12 HD, good saves, etc...even with all those class features, I doubt he can seriously stand up to a 20th level fighter, simply because he won't be able to hit.

Sounds like Sir Vorpal Kickasso.

It was my understanding that a level 20 wizard could take down a lesser deity if sufficiently optimized. A level 20 Uber Gestalt could take down everything forever. Remember, even the greater deities were described by having only 20 levels of a couple of classes and everything is vulnerable to something (excluding fax's godcrabs).

With every option in the game, eventually you could figure out a way to kill anything (also excluding fax's godcrabs). Especially when you have your persisted death ward/elemental immunity/haste/animal power/GMW/GMV/greater resistance/anything else that you feel like having that day. And your billions of damage each round (hulking hurler + ubercharger + the thing that lets you throw a weapon on a charge = :smalleek:).
