Any thoughts about enhancements for a spear? Throwing and returning sure, but those seem so bland. PC is 8th level.

It might be nice to give them domain access to True Strike (Gungnir always finds its mark).

Its also supposed to insta-kill. Maybe a version of quivering palm that enhances the spear -- or a once per day finger of death when the weapon is thrown.

Another way to mimic its accuracy is to have it ignore cover and gain the Ghost Touch quality. At higher levels it should ignore any kind of DR.

if you go with short spear it's already a thrown weapon...

Well, if you're going with a longspear and want to recreate Gungnir, Throwing (and probably Returning) are musts, as Odin really did like throwing it...Chargebreaker is decent; the Fort DC is really low, especially considering that most charging enemies will have high Con - but hey, for a +1 bonus you can do worse than a 5% chance of knocking an opponent prone. Brutal Surge is useful as well, though of course less useful than with a Dungeoncrasher build; Holy, as always, is excellent, though if you wanted a more neutral source of bonus damage, Collision is another +2 ability that just provides a straight-up +5 damage per attack. Oh, and Prismatic Burst is delicious for crits.
But as for Ghost Touch, get it as a weapon crystal rather than a normal enhancement.
If you have extra gold, it's also worth checking out some of the static cost bonuses. They're nowhere near as great as standard enhancements, but they can provide some very useful little bonuses.

The Impaling enchantment (MIC) lets you attack with your weapon as a touch attack 3/day.

Changeling is another nice enchantment for a spear (MIC), letting it shift as a swift action between a normal, short or long spear.
