Ok, here is the deal, this is my last year of highschool and that means I have to make what I believe is one of the most important desitions on my life, my career and the college/university/whatever else it might be called.

Due some personal reasons I really want to study abroad and my first options are either studing in the UK or Australia.

Right now I am not sure on what I will study, some months ago I was dead set on studying Law and become a lawyer, as of now I am not sure, though I am interested in engineering (either mechanical or chemical).

If that matters I am currently doing the IB diploma, and I did the IGCSE exams.

Do you have comments? ideas? links to websites I should see?

most uk universities will have sections on their websites for advice on how to apply from abroad

IB will get you more places than otherwise.

In Australia, universities apply on a state by state system, with most states (except Tas and NT) having a central authority where you can apply for about 8 at once. As you're an overseas student and therefore full fee paying I can't help you more than that as I was a HECS student. The government paid for my degree.

Take a year off to better decide what you want to do

I sort of agree with Felixaar--you're starting at this from the wrong end; you should be deciding what you want to study before you research where to study it.

These are you choices of university if you were to go to Western Australia.

Murdoch University (http://www.murdoch.edu.au/)

Curtin University (http://www.curtin.edu.au/)

University of Western Australia (http://www.uwa.edu.au/)

Edith Cowan University (http://www.ecu.edu.au/)

Notre Dame (http://www.nd.edu.au/)

The big choices for engineering are UWA and Curtin. People doing law generally go to Murdoch or UWA. If you're serious about this read up on them all.

I do agree with the other guys though, spend sometime thinking about this before you jump into it.

Here (http://www.une.edu.au/imp/) is my uni's international student page. If you do a search, I think I put some more links last time this came up, too. Can't remember what, though. Think I just found it with a Google search for "studying in Australia", anyway - look for a .gov.au site.

UCAS (http://www.ucas.ac.uk/)is who undergrads here in the UK have to deal with. I'm not sure if they're the same for foreign students though. if not, they'll be able to set you right.

For my money, you've got the right order. You can't really pick where you go without knowing what you want to do when you're there. Once you know you want to do engineering, pick a strong engineering university, like Imperial College or Birmingham. If you want to do classics, look at Oxford / Cambridge etc. If you think they may be a bit high powered, look at somewhere else.

Be aware though, the fees of overseas students here are several times more expensive than they are for citizens, and they're pretty expensive if you're a UK citizen.
