In the Touhou thread on Gaming(Other), there has been some discussion on fanmade artwork of the series, links to music videos & such. There is an image hosting site i'd like to link to ({inappropriate link removed}), but i am uncertain whether it is acceptable here. The comics i would link to would not violate the Forum Rules in any way, but the site runs ad-banner rotations on all individual image pages. The rotation ranges from harmless (Cosplay outfits, Anime figurines, etc.) to somewhat NSFW(suggestive/sexual content), and is essentially random.

The reason i ask is that most of the comics on the site are in japanese with english translations provided as part of the site interface. A direct link to the image bypasses the ads, but loses out on translation. Another asset that would be lost is organization, as Danbooru organizes associated images in pools for easy access. Pool pages {inappropriate links removed} are devoid of the ads.
None of the pages i linked in this post have content that goes against the rules.
Is it okay to link to the pools? Or does the presence of such ads on the site make it unacceptable?

If we weren't allowed to link to sites with ads on them, we wouldn't have many places we could link to.

True, but the content of the ads matters as well, right? Essentially, posting a screencap of the imagepool page would not violate board rules. Posting a screencap of the image page could, depending on the random ads. Most sites with ads don't have ads with content you could not otherwise post here.
That is why i would like to have a mod give the A-OK on this first. Better safe than sorry, you see.

Oh, absolutely you should wait for a mod ruling. I'm just layin' down my bets now.

Maybe you should change the topic title. Right now, people might think it means "How do I add images to my post?"

I'd be a little more concerned that the site not only hosts copyrighted material, but a rather large amount of pornographic images of it's own. The very first page I went to contained child pornography.

And these translations you want to link to, are they scans of commercial comics? Because that would very definitely be against the rules, regardless of the ads on the page.

Sheriff of Moddingham: I appreciate that you asked and your careful explanation. I would suggest, though, that you not link there in any fashion. The ads are plainly inappropriate as are many of the images. It's not clear whether these are fanart or scans of commercial images, which is also problematic. But the sexual (and, as noted above, often child sexual) images are sufficient to make that site not linkable here.
