Mithral Dragon

http://coolvibe.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/mithraldragon.jpg

The Mithral Dragon is a dragon of higher than that average intelligence, and their hoards are great collections of books, or ancient places with knowledge that has been hidden for centuries, the dragon along with it. Often times, one may give the dragon a highly sought after book in order to gain access to the hoard. When the Mithral is not looking after his hoard, he is generally seeking books and receptacles of knowledge away from his library, and bringing them back.

Mithral Dragons are the lesser known cousins of the Metallic dragons, but most do not care for dragon politics, or the fight between the Prismatics and the Metallics. They simply care about their own hoard.

Breath Weapon (Ex): A Mithral Dragon has two types of breath weapon, a cone of sonic and a cone of mind numbing gas. Creatures within a cone of mind numbing gas must succeed on a Fortitude save (DC 10 + HD + Intelligence Modifier) or take 1 point of intelligence damage per age category of the dragon (1 point for Wyrmlings, 12 points for Great Wyrms).

Alternate Form (Su): A Mithral Dragon can assume any animal or humanoid form of Medium size or smaller as a standard action, three times per day. The dragon can remain in its animal or humanoid form until it chooses to assume a new one or return to its natural form. The dragon can still cast spells as normal.

Dispel Magic (Sp): a Mithral Dragon is able to cast Dispel Magic at will, with a caster level equal to one half the dragon’s hit dice, or his designated caster level, whichever his higher.

Spells: The Mithral Dragon casts spells from the wizard spell list, as if he were a wizard of levels equivalent to the caster level on the table. He gains no other benefits (Such as a familiar, or bonus feats). The Mithral Dragon does not have to specialize in a specific school of magic. He also gains the Knowledge domain, as if he were a cleric worshipping a god with that domain; he gains the domain ability, and adds all domain spells to his spell list. He may also add a number of spells from the Cleric list to his own spell list equal to his Hit Dice, adding new spells every age category increase during which he is either granted the ability to cast spells, or can cast spells. At every age category increase in which the Mithral Dragon would be to gain spells to his spell list, he may also replace two spells per age category increase, of any spell list, from any casting class.

Bookwalker (Su): The Mithral Dragon automatically knows the location of any book he has read, and knows the location of every single item in their hoard, even if they haven’t read it. As soon as a book enters the hoard, it is a part of the hoard (I.E., if it is put in the library where the dragon keeps his or her hoard, it is then part of the hoard.) When the Mithral Dragon reaches the juvenile age category, he may teleport to any book that is a part of his hoard. He may do so four times per day. He may not teleport back to his former location, unless a book of his hoard is there. It takes one minute to use the bookwalker ability to travel to a book of the Mithral Dragon’s hoard.

Spell Like Abilities: At-Will— Read Magic; 3/day— Greater Dispel Magic; 2/day— Antimagic Field; 1/day— Mage’s Disjunction.

Shape Magic: The mithral can alter area and effect spells that use one of the following shapes: burst, cone, cylinder, emanation, or spread. The alteration consists of creating spaces within the spell’s area or effect that are not subject to the spell. The minimum dimension for these spaces is a 5-foot cube. Furthermore, any shapeable spells have a minimum dimension of 5 feet instead of 10 feet.

Skills: Spellcraft, Decipher Script, and any Knowledge skill are considered class skills for the Mithral Dragon.
