Anyone got anything?

I'm here to help!

I'm not even sure of what's going on in the first picture, but I think she has a scissor hand, in which case, it doesn't fit.

The second one seems to be quite human in facial structure, though it could be a half-elf or maybe a...human-like elf. :smalltongue:

This is almost perfect. Now, is there anything out there that's similar, but with slightly less electricity and slightly more steam? The society in question is based around magically charged steam technology.

Here's one for you fine folk.

I'm looking for a battle scene between a human or mostly human creature that has taken on aspects of devils (Balors, specifically), fighting an iconic champion of good (angels, paladins, whatever). The catch, however, is that the evil creature should be winning, but not already in the process of killing his enemy.

Something like this, but with the roles reversed:http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/11/solarascendant.jpg

So as I was randomly looking for pictures of the standard D&D races in a d20 modern setting, I found this beautifully done elven chick.

http://images.elfwood.com/art/c/j/cjwaller/angeldone1.jpg

Maybe d20 future, actually since the artist's note says she has cybernetic eyes.

*edit: Wasn't someone looking a while ago for an older guy who looked sort of wise but in a "can still kick your *** if I want" type way?

Well, I found one. Even if I imagined the request, I'll still post it and just hope it's not a repost. :smallwink:

i find myself wanting a pic of a female dwarf... with a rifle. It should be some sort of musket or something steampunk (the gun, not the dwarf, and yes I know that muskets aren't actually rifles)Pity you want a female, there's heaps of great male ones.

I need images of an elven steampunk techmage, BUT, one that is not enhanced in any way. By that I mean, one that just makes magitech stuff and uses it, but doesn't graft it onto themselves or anyone else. hey everyone, I've got another request. I'm looking for a humanoid, male or female, wielding a big weapon and is pissed.

Something like this:
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk144/frostrazor/Enrage.jpg

Expect for a couple key differences. I don't want the breaking armor that pic has going on (preferably no or light armor being worn...no plate), and the weapon should appear to be magically infused (not made out of magic, but glowing or otherwise clearly magical). I want the picture to covey just the over-the-top fury and wrath that is barely contained and is being released by this person. If it feels vaguely tribal that is a bonus.

Well, the pathfinder iconic barbarian fits most of those, but the only pic I could find of her has her just sort of upset, not really mad. Maybe your Google-fu is stronger?

Not bad, but I'm talking Frenzied Berserker (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/cw_ag/75409.jpg) levels of angry here.

The second one isn't bad, but not angry enough (and more fan service than I was anticipating)

The third is close, but needs a touch more anger and a weapon (but otherwise is a good controlled rage example).

There are a lot of good pictures there, but this one is the closest to what I'm looking for. While the swords aren't magical, the danger present in this one is perfect. While I was envisioning something a little more "in your face" and magical, this is very, very good.

Other than that, the 8th one is good as well, but it has too much of an "I'm a badass" vibe instead of an angry one. The Zelda is terrific though.

Thanks!

New request!

I'm not really sure how it would be translated to a visual medium, but I'm looking for something that shows speech being used as magic - that is, the words themselves are magic, not that speaking gibberish makes magic happen. I know that's terribly vague, but I'm really not sure how something like that would look, and my search-fu is apparently weak.

I'm looking for a picture of an attractive looking demon, female, in plate armor, preferably wielding a scythe, a greatsword, or a longbow or looking like they're casting a spell. A cloak is a plus, and they must have visible wings.

It's a character I plan on playing and I'd like a picture of her.

Looking like a good guy would be a plus but isn't entirely necessary.

Found this one is this not quite SFW site (http://www.somethingawful.com/d/dungeons-and-dragons/fantasy-art-2010.php?page=1).

I find that very amusing. I wonder what the score is.

I don't think that's a beholder they're playing with. It's some kind of beholder variant with no eyerays, and if you hit it it explodes in some kind of spore cloud. I forget what they're called. The only reason I point it out is because I can't remember the thing's name and it's been bugging me.

Those are gas spores, but this one is clearly not one of them. More likely one of the many miniature-beholder that are out there.

Looks like an Eyeball to me, which are commonly used as familiars, at least in the Realms.

Guys, can we go back to separating the photos based on Gender? I realize that looking at a drawing of a guy in a speedo isn't going to kill me but I'd rather not look at it if I don't have to to be able to see what I'm looking for.

Its Morgana from League of Legends, she's a fallen angel of some sort, kayle's (that's the other angle) sister.
when she's not participating in the league, she runs a bakery called "Sinful Succulence".

Gas spores! Aha! The only reason I suggest that it might not be a beholder is due to the whole "drow haven't been incinerated yet" thing. But if it was an Eyeball, that would totally make sense.

I do think this would be the place to ask, given the huge number of fantasy-genre pics you guys post... Or are requests and non-fanservice pics not allowed here? I didn't see a requests thread in Arts and Crafts... Apologies if this is horribly out of place.

I don't know about 10, but 9? I found it pretty hard to give a damn about any of the characters, the plot was generally un-engaging, and it generally just felt a whole lot less original than 7, and to a degree 8.

What little I've seen of the games since 10 has been rather homogenous really, with the exception of the mildly fruity mmo.

@Oracle_Hunter: Here's a small vampire batch, but i'm not sure if they're really what you're looking for. It's hard finding even slightly vampirey pictures that aren't either "WHARGARBL I'MMA VAMPIRE RAWRBLAGH" or "Lookit mah boobies!". Apparantly there's some unspoken rule that if you're female and a vampire you have to have your boobs almost hanging out.:smallsigh:

I know you don't hold a weapon up that high unless it's part of a strike in motion. You simply don't leave yourself exposed that way. But feet planted, shoulders square... he's not going anywhere. The body posture would be different if he was.

No, the purpose of that pose is so the artist can show off the detail of the armor without the weapon being in the way. It's not a combat form.

And I must admit, the armor rocks. :smallcool:

See my previous post. He wouldn't put his sword up there unless it's coming down real fast, real quick. But it's not because is body posture says he's not moving.

EDIT - it's not the strike I'm overestimating, it's the defensive parry. Simply put, from that stance, he doesn't HAVE one. He'd have to bring the sword down before he could block anything with it. You put your weapon between you and the enemy, even in the face of ranged fire.

That "over the head ready stance" is actually lifted right from some period fighting manuals. Whether it's accurate, who knows, but it is historical. Well, his elbows should be a little less cocked outward, and it's a weird angle, but still, you can see what the artist was using for a reference at least.

I think the idea is "My sword is 2 times the length of yours, I stand like this, trust my armor, and if anyone gets close I bring it down like a meteor on their heads before they get close enough to hit me."

My 2cp on Mr. Sword stance:

I don't claim to be an expert on swordmanship, but I do own an illustrated techniques book for medieval swordmanship. The stance he is drawn in is very similar, although slightly awkward, to the high guard longsword stance. For reference this was in Italian hawke, in English haukse bill, and in German Dach or Oberhut. It was used to allow the wielder to strike with maximum force and speed. It did expose yourself to attack, but was the most threatening stance and could not be parried.

Hope that helps.
(I'll scrounge around and see if I have any good pictures to offer the thread)

Which works unless someone runs up with a shield. Then he can parry and gutpunch him.

But if this is D+D, that's not a realistic example. After all... nobody uses a shield. Unless it floats nearby on it's own, shields are not optimized. :smalltongue:

On that last one did anyone else's mind drop straight into the gutter between the woman's expression and the way she appears to be holding her sword.

For those who need it expressly spelled out: She's rubbing "down there" with the hilts crosspiece

Pfeh. One doesn't need to be interested in men to see that you have no taste. Look at the males in the samples for the races in the beginning of the PHB. Now THOSE are some good-lookin' guys (and girls). The canon D&D cast is all, at best, perfectly fine so long as they keep their clothes on (barring some renditions of Alhandra and Lidda. SOME).

Oh, PHB. Almost completely lacking in hawtness. So sad.

Ah, that glorious rule. Though I'm personally fascinated by the idea of a relationship with an artificial human. It may be a bit weird of one of the partners is also the maker of the other, and depends on how much independance/sentience the artificial human, has, but still... For Science!!

It's not only about that(though it does play into it :smalltongue:) but more that she bears a resemblance to her, she is an elf with long dark hair, and what she's wearing is no less practical than what Mialee wears although to be fair that would be sort of hard to achieve. But mostly it's because her face is actually pretty, as opposed to space frog like has been mentioned. I'd still like that piece even if she was wearing actual clothing.

Bottom line, would you rather see:

Seconding the NSFWness of that second one. I needed to double check to make sure she really wasn't topless. Aaand in triple checking, the logic I used to verify that she isn't actually topless just went ka-put. Yeah, you really should cut that one out.

Edit: You ninja, you. It doesn't matter what I or anyone else want's to see, it's a matter of what is and isn't. If it wasn't, then because I want it, all the male characters would be shirtless with hairy chests and rockin' beards, and the ladys would be in sensible armour or gothic lolita with ruffles and pretty laces.

This doesn't really look overly practical, contrary to the most fantasy/RPG notion over the world, light, slender plates of leather won't really make very good armor.

And if they were, they won't be really much lighter than metal stuff.

And this one here doesn't even look sensibly put together.

I don't want to start any derail, or be picky, or anything, I'm just simply interested:

How would it really work?

I mean, fantasy, RPG or whatever is the thing of imagination. That's obvious.

Considering setting etc. present in most things from those ( Baldurs Gate, Legend of Mir) , how does one imagines himself such women, running around in such stuff?

Talking, buying stuff, roaming the forest, doing acrobatic stuff that is called combat in most of such settings?

Without butchering their naked bodies quite a lot, getting cold, or whatever, having problems carrying a rucksack between random metal bits and bare skin, et cetera, etc?

I leave protection thing out, as it doesn't matter that much in overall possibilities of imagining coherent image.

If it will cause to much thread wrecking, ignore me. :smalltongue:

Honestly?

I don't really care how it works. It's merely an aesthetic choice to me. After all, it's fantasy, not reality. My fantasy is a little less grounded in reality than some peoples'. Fantasy doesn't have to be grounded in reality at all, if you don't want it to be.

Were it reality, my choice would no longer be entirely for aesthetic reasons. It would have to be made on the functionality of the armor.

That reminds me of hearing about an old law that says a hat counts as a suitable article of clothing in terms of avoiding indecent exposure. I doubt that authenticity of that, and even if it's true it's obviously a legal RAW loophole, but still, it's a funny though. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised. I've heard of laws where it's illegal to spit/urinate in public, but not to take a dump(assuming you avoid the public indecency of it, of course).

@Dsmiles:
The thing that bugs about it is the gender imbalance. In fantasy/sci-fi artwork, the majority of woman are a step or less away from being some sort of fetish pin-up model, whereas that same kind of sexualisation is almost unheard of on men(and even when it does happen, it's usually in the vein of sparkly prettyboy elves, but I'm going to focus on women just for this post). If it were more half-and-half, I'd be happy, but it isn't.(It also bugs me that every woman depiction is the same skinny, big-boobs no-waist twenty-something year old faux-supermodel. Where are the petite and flat-chested, the curvy and voluptious, the larger plus-sized, the mature that don't look like their clinging tooth-and-nail to their youth, the plain and unkempt, or just the plain old average, non-eyecandy women?)

I feel like posting this; I'd like something a little more relevant, but it still works, in my opinion:

People draw what makes them happy and/or what makes them money. If there are more pin-ups of girls out there, it's because more people want to draw sexy girls, and because more people want to pay money to see sexy girls. Pretty obvious.

I never said I didn't understand it, just that I don't like it. As someone who's on the fringe/niche market of almost everything, it just bugs me that there's nothing but the same thing done over and over again because it's popular, growing stagnant and repetitive, when there are other styles/ideas/markets that could flourish if people would just give them some damn attention.:smallannoyed:

I can understand not liking it because it's not your niche (and/or because it's not shared equally between genders [except for sparkly prettyboy elves/barechested effeminate anime types, and big beefy barbarians]), but it's fantasy, there's no reason for it to need to be "realistic."

It's like silly weapons; things like double-axes or sword-flails might sound cool to some, and there's nothing inheritly wrong with them. But when you prefer maces and the only thing that's being pushed out there are sword-flails...

Plus, you can't really use the excuse of "it's fantasy" to justify boobie-plate armour. Yes, it's fantasy. Yes, that explains dragons and people flying around shooting fireballs and lightning bolts by mumbling and waving their hands around. But if it acts on the presumption that the laws of physics and what-not work as they do in the real-world when it's not "A wizard did, is doing or will do it", then there's still no reason for there to be unrealistic or out-right physically impossible-without-magic armour or weapons. A blade in fantasy cuts/slashs/pierces, as opposed to bludgeons, right? And a two-handed sword weighs more than a dagger. It's harder to cut through a sheet of metal when it's thicker. Unless you have a setting that specifically has it's own laws of physics that change things like these, then why should boobie-plate armour exist? Most fantasy settings don't present changes to the laws of physics themselves as a whole, so they break versmilitude, as opposed to realism, with stuff that just wouldn't exist in real-life no matter the circumstances.

Also, penance for my little rant:

See, for reasoning like that, I have to point to my favorite example of chainmail-bikinish armor in fiction, that being Azure Bonds. The female lead is given a suit of enchanted mail from the female villain (who she's, in part, a clone of...don't ask, it's a bit complicated) that's designed to expose her cleavage because the villain (a sorceress) enjoyed looking sexy. The female lead (and all her friends) commented on how impractical the cleavage window was (and immodest).

Turns out? The most well-protected spot on the entire armor. Turns out the chainmail's magical protection formed, the equivalent, of a steel breastplate (a real one) to cover that area. Any body who tried to strike at the obvious opening found their strike deflecting off either harmlessly to the side or to the actually well-built chainmail. I use the same rationale with any magical fantasy armor. The AC bonus really comes from the armor directing weapons towards the protected bits or, if it can't, just deflecting them off to the side harmlessly.

Or you could take the Chainmail Bikini joke-rule-book rules and the AC comes from distraction of the people trying to attack them, but only if they'd find the person wearing the armor attractive (generally only creatures of the same type or monstrous humaniods, giants, etc. Creatures who share the same general shape really). Course, then there were feats to broaden the range of enemies distracted too. As an aside, Chainmail Bikini is meant just as much for male characters as it is for females and contains one of my favorite magical items. A shirt that rips whenever the wearer takes more then a certain amount of damage but provides a larger and larger AC bonus the more it gets ripped. Yes, it's a shirt that becomes stronger the more it's dramatically ripped up and it is awesome.

So..y'know...pick whichever one makes you feel better. xD Or Both.

But then, why would you need any metal bits at all? You could just wear something that wouldn't chafe as enormously as mail on bear skin, would be lighter, and would not rust.

Yeah, but y'see, that's really more of an exception rather than the general rule. Hell, you could argue that it's a desconstruction of sorts of the chainmail-bikini effect. Personally, I love the idea of an underhanded, dirty combat pragmatist who uses her sexuality and provactive armour to distract you, and thus, get an opportunity to gut you while you're unawares. I'm actually starting to picture some sort of home-brewed armour that has the penalties of heavy armour and less ac than it, but it grants a bonus to feinting in combat against appropriate targets a la the rules in the chainmail bikini book.

Yeah, seriously.:smallannoyed: I think there's a lot of people who need to cop on that they're two seperate things. Big-boobied elf in steel-plated lingerie =/= A knight slaying the evil dragon. Doesn't have to. Some people's views on fantasy =/= other people's views on fantasy. That being said, I have no interest in the physics of tiny armor. I have no interest in the physics of realistic armor. Those things don't really matter to me. Very little can ruin my immersion in a fantasy RPG. Least of all, big boobies in tiny armor (hereafter referenced as BBITA).

Again, it's entirely an aesthetic choice to be made by the viewer whether or not they like the artwork. I dislike Picasso, many people love his work. I like Escher, many people don't like his work. What's the difference between those choices and the choice to like, or dislike, BBITA?

Why do we all have to like the same thing? I enjoy BBITA. You don't. I'm not putting down your choices in art to post (ref: Man Bottom above). I may not like it, but I'm not ridiculing it.

So, why put down the art we post that includes BBITA? You like what you like, and I like what I like, it's the way the world works, and I seriously doubt that it's going to change for either of us.

People, lingerie chain-mail is a completely viable and logical choice of protection! I mean, when your dexterity is really high, there's nothing else you can wear effectively. And really, who would actually choose padded leather over chain-mail bikini?

For what it's worth, the Bikini Zombie Slayer works by using the zombie-blood splattered on them as fuel to go Super-Mode. So, yeah, that's how those people imagined the scantily-clad heroine in a world full of uniforms and zombies.

I've also heard of a Ghita, some story about a harlot-turned-warrior, whom I believed got her fighting skill from, uh... "Putting together the Sears cabbage patch kit that the Stork delivered after eating a pillow" with a reanimated warrior-king, as that turned her into an Avatar-like-thing for said deceased warrior-king, making that act kind of character-defining. Then again, I believe that's from one of the dudes that worked on Red Sonja, so that's probably just a story someone thought up after they drew the character and decided on the marketing route.

But, mostly it's done because all civilizations in history would've done better without pants. :smalltongue:

Okay, I have a request for this thread. Can anyone find an image of a half-green dragon (wings optional, preferably with a tail) human female either casting a spell, singing, wielding a weapon, or any combination of the above? Any armor is fine, though preferably not entirely BBITA. Thanks in advance!

Well, I can do most of those. Pretty sure her daddy was a silver though, not a green.:smallwink:

This is from Todd Lockwood's site again, so lemme know if it breaks.

Miscast Mage: We've actually, several times, gone out of our way to avoid that sort of stereotypical fantasy art, and in fact that's a big part of why this is now called "Dungeons and Dreamboats" rather than "The Cheesecake Thread" - to make it open to male art. I don't disagree with your complaint - in particular, I'd like to see some women who are between "skinny as Hell" and "fat as frick" - but I don't really think it's especially fair to have a go at us for that when, in my opinion, we tend to do a pretty good job of having a fairly too spread.

I'm sure I've posted all of this before, but I think this will be the sort of stuff you're after (you don't want super-sparkly-pretty boys, correct?).

You'd be amazed how hard it is to find artwork of these characters online, putting their name into google (even with the word art or artwork) keeps getting you photos of their miniatures.

I'll see what I can turn up tonight for the rest of the WM babes. (Specifically Ravyn, Kaelyssa, Anistasia deBray(SP?), and Madeline Corbeau. (I have the books, and may need to scan them in.) Any others?

The rest are in the Mercs book, which I have. (Hawk and Aiyanna are in the PotBC book, too, it's outdated, but thinner, so...easier to scan.)

http://www.toddlockwood.com/resources/images/galleries/dnd/02/fire_and_ice.jpg

This is from Todd Lockwood's site again, so lemme know if it breaks.

Todd Lockwood's site has a hotlinking protection measure in place. What that means is, you can't link images from his site on another site. You don't see this, because you've already been to the [page it's been hosted on, and your browser has cached the image for you. People who haven't already seen the image get redirected to a file called bad.jpg because it's being hosted from giantitp.com instead of the expected toddlockwood.com.

So, it'd be best if you could download the image to your computer, then upload it to a place like Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/), Imageshack (http://www.imageshack.us/), Tinypic (http://tinypic.com/), or other such service. That way, the image will be hosted on that server, without any hotlinking protection, so we can see it right on the forum, and it also saves toddlockwood.com any extra bandwidth usage if that's a concern for his site.

Too many words, right?

There's all the obvious stuff like the one-ludicrously-oversized-pauldron, the breast-breastplate, the plate bikini, the I'm-too-womanly-to-wear-clothing design, the awkward dragging-her-sword-across-the-ground posture...but what really got my attention were those claws that make a firm grip on her sword impossible. Truly the artist spared no detail in making this a 'look, don't fight' picture.

I don't like this one as much. To me, how the face looks is one of the most important things, and this one just doesn't look right. I think it might be too much makeup.
Yeah, there's something not quite right with her face, but the sexy in that one comes from her attitude and body language. That's a second-story dwarf plotting her next heist if I ever saw one.

EDIT: I think it's because her head is slightly too small for her body.

For me, it's how incredibly wide-set the artist has drawn the eyes.

But that doesn't matter, post more cheese! I'd post some of my own, but I don't really have any, unfortunately.

Dunno?

It popped up on teh googles. It was posted on a WotC forum. But I can't follow the chain of links back to an artist. :smallfrown:

I'd love to see more of his/her work, though...

EDIT: And now I can't see even see it on here.

Closest thing I could find was a screenshot from Fable III. Technically not a dwarf, but it's close to closing time, so squint your eyes and imagine. :smallamused:

Thoust knows not of the wonders of Tineye (http://www.tineye.com/)?!

Enter an image, it finds places where that image is on the internet. Obviously not 100% effective, but crazy useful.

This one looks better than the rest, strong without the muscles being too tight and pronounced, and she's sleeker than most dwarves, but she doesn't look any less tough.

On the other hand, it seems all dwarf women now wear their hair big. And unless they're strictly spellcasters, they can braid no more than half of it.
