So, figured I'd drop a couple of requests in here.

First, I thought I saw some pics in this thread earlier that had people with truly ridonkulous longbows. Like, metal ones with chains for the "string", and longspears as ammo, etc.

Second, and more seriously, I've had some trouble finding good half-orc pictures. Specifically, male, and with the "orc traits" being fairly subdued. Also, not a heavy green color. And, um, clothed.
One that's an archer is just a bonus.
This one's kind of a "character portrait" for my 20Str/20Dex Half-Orc Archer fighter. :smallcool:

If does look pretty funky as far as functionality goes.... Like mail with very, very oversize rings, that would not be really effective.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I saw the hilt of the sword somewhere.... I mean that it looks like stylized after some real ornamental piece. Can't recall details.

Well to be fair to the artist, chain mail is a pain in the behind to draw realistically. But yeah, it's either way out of proportion, or she's a gnome. :smalltongue:

Yeah, it looks better than most female armors. Of course, her slender stature is still not fit for battle. She weights like 60kg at the absolute most. I mean, look at those arms!

Naturally thats not really the point. I like slender but definately not flat women. She is blonde too. All things considered, she is darn sexy. But I wouldnt want her as my shieldmate on the frontline.

It's just hotlinking issue. Right click on the unloaded image and select to view it in a new tab/window.

As for the original poster of the image, save it and upload it to an image hosting site if you want to post it on the forums, most sites will not let hot-linked pictures load.

That's fine now.

The reason it works for you in FF is that the image is already in your cache, so it doesn't need to be loaded from the site, whereas it isn't in your IE cache, and so won't load through the hot-link.

In general it is good policy to host images yourself before posting them, as even if the site does not have measures to prevent hot-linking, it isn't very polite, as the bandwidth for the image download is put on their server.

I've collected lots and lots of pictures for my characterfolder so far but there is one piece missing and I wondered if it is ok to make a request? If not, please ignore me. :smallsmile:

This is for a character I am going to play this summer that I really like.

She is about 50 years old, (but an elf so looks to be 25ish), with long and wellkept white hair that often is kept in place by a green ribbon. Her father is a master tailor and quite wealthy so she always wears simple, but exquisite dresses. She prefers white with green details. Her eyes are big and green, and her normal expressions include concentrated, bored, confused or angry.

She was a very lonely child, her father didnt have much time for her, and she never had any friends as a child. From a very young age she had a imaginary friend that later, manifested as her magic ability. She still speaks to him when she is stressed or scared, but is well aware that he is a figment of her imagination. All her magic spells starts with one word. "Come". And with a shadow of a man appearing behind her, ready to be transformed to wathever she needs.

This is a lot of details, but it is only to give you an idea of the feel I want. It doesnt need to fit perfectly. :smallsmile:

If you could find a picture of her with her giant black warhorse, that would be even better. The horse is a gift from a close friend, and she cares a lot for it.

That rather well describes the way Football Shoulder pads fit as well... seems to me that Pauldrons could easily be considered shoulder pads.

You're absolutely right, what I should have said is that they are pads that go on your shoulders. My Mistake. My point stands however, that nitpicking about refering to pauldrons as shoulder pads is asinine.

A request. I've been having a strange amount of difficulty with this one. I'm looking for artwork that fills the following

*Male.
*Epic.

*A perfect example of what it means to be a Paladin. A golden armored warrior of light and sunshine and all that sort of thing. I'd prefer no helmet, and preferably a human subject. That may be because I read The Last Wish and played The Witcher before finding out about Claymore, so genetic engineering in a fantasy setting is a bit more swallow-able for me. Needless to say, there were a lot of idiots who claimed The Witcher (the video game) was ripping off Claymore, not knowing the stories have been around since the mid-80s.

Had a question i wanted to ask. Its about those insisting on separating male and female pics. Why? I could understand if they were hentai type pics, but skimpy armored women aside, most ive looked at so far are pretty much standard for rpg models. I agree with the rquests to divide the beefcake and cheesecake in the next version of this thread. It'd not a matter of desciminating against one or the other, but a lot of people would prefer to know that what they get in the thread will be what they want. This is confusing, when viewed adjacent to the thread's OP.

Yeah, yeah... I get that. And I wasn't precisely complaining about it. The issue is, if there's a straight up "awesome art" thread, then it's either inactive or in a part of the boards I never travel. Which leaves this thread which is quite active and has some really fantastic non-'cake' pictures in it. In fact, I think the number of cake vs non would probably be pretty close.

I wasn't saying that no one should post it, just that clearly tagged for gender would be nice as a standard format and then adding my opinion, not my expectations for the thread. I know what I'm potentially getting into when I click it, it was just a bit of wishful thinking I guess.

I think the entire reason I hit on the subject at all was to point out that it wasn't a male gender specific thing for me, I could do with less fanservice of either gender and more just awesome art. Wasn't intended as a complaint or anything, just tossing in my opinion.

Well, I compared finding pictures of males when you're looking for pictures of females (or vice-versa) to finding nuts in your peanut butter. If you enjoyed that, you're probably interested in both. I over-extended the metaphor as a joke.

I need WARDER pictures. Yes a warder from the Wheel of Time series. A male, with a slightly curved bastard sword. Preferably tall, a bit lanky or wiry but strong, light brown hair and light eyes. Either sensible armour or fanservicy. :smallbiggrin:

Edit: Preferably a fancloth cloak (colour changing cloak that makes the person nearly invisible) in any case. But I can do without.

You know, the subject of this show came up last saturday night with our gaming group. No one else had caught on to the internet hype mania going around about it. I kinda let them know how huge it's gotten, 4Chan has constant /b/rony threads and it's up to thread number 6 around here. The collective response... (paraphrased from memory)

"So a bunch of middle aged geeks and gamers are going all fanboi over My Little Ponies and no one is getting a really creepy pedophile vibe from this?"

A bit harsher than my own judgment, but I certainly don't get the hype either and it certainly is something I would consider a bit creepy. To each their own though I guess.

These "middle aged geeks and gamers" are also still into things like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Batman and other stuff made for kids. Why isn't that giving a "really creepy pedophile vibe"? I'm suspicious that it's because MLP's nominally "made for girls", supposedly.

Because Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was not considered "for kids" until the Animation Age Ghetto crept in. The original comics were terrifyingly adult parodies of the Iron Age heroes. And Batman hasn't really been for kids since the 1980s. My Little Pony was always for little girls, and the new show is a recent development. I would suggest giving it time for people to realize that the old show's legacy does not affect the new one as much as people think it does.

Me, I just hate ponies.

Meh, I never watched the old cartoon. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the people watching the new one are, in turn, not even aware of the dolls.
And if not those two, then any others. Spongebob, Transformers, various Disney movies, whatever. The best (and not-so-best) kids' shows have always held their appeal for older audiences. Why does My Little Pony get slapped with the "pedophile vibe"?
As far as I'm concerned, all it says is that show-creators have made a cartoon that appeals directly to adult audiences as well as children, and I think that's a damn good thing.
