If that doesn't haunt the very darkest corners of your nightmares... Erm, would you mind swapping them with mine then?

And a rabbit wearing a hat is the niece of a ghoul and the aunt of a cookie-monster and the sister of a cat. And a necromancer.

We also have an Orangutan who isn't a librarian, what's up with that?

Coid, you don't want to trade dreams with me. I had one last night about a guy who became addicted to drinking Napalm, and didn't stop until he melted his face; I was some kind of invisible conscious figure trying to convince his deadbeat mom to pull the plug, implied to be the spirit of another one of her sons who died and was now haunting her. It was very post-modern and probably would have given M. Night Shyamalan a stiffie.

Yeah, my dreams are weird :smallwink:

In an effort to assist this awesome, I provide the full lyrics:
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy (Poor boy)
I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
Little high, little low
Any way the wind blows
Doesn't really matter to me, to me

Mama just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life has just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooh
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters

Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye, everybody
I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, oooooooh (Anyway the wind blows)
I don't want to die
Sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

[Guitar Solo]

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouch, Scaramouch, will you do the Fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me
(Galileo) Galileo (Galileo) Galileo, Galileo Figaro
Magnifico-o-o-o-o
I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go
Let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go
Let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go
Let me go (Will not let you go)
Let me go (Will not let you go) (Never, never, never, never)
Let me go, o, o, o, o
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
(Oh mama mia, mama mia) Mama Mia, let me go
Beelzebub has the devil put aside for me, for me, for me!

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here

[Guitar Solo]
(Oooh yeah, Oooh yeah)

Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters to me

Any way the wind blows...

Yes. Yes you did. You've gone beyond merely repeating a tired joke into actively annoying me.

On a related note, I've never understood what people thought they were accomplishing when they said, on a forum, that memes annoyed them. That's like going to a King Tubby show and announcing that stoners annoy you. That's 100% within your right to say, and there are probably plenty of people who agree with you, but to the majority of people there, it feels like a personal attack.

I was curious as to the answer to my question. Which is why I asked a question.
Apparently that's an offense bad enough for me to then be subjected to the thing I said irritates me... twice. :smallsigh:

Memes do not inherently annoy me. Tired, repetitive memes which haven't been creative or interesting in over a hundred incarnations or so (and in this case was at best mildly humorous to begin with), however, are dull and boring. The discolored spot on the ground where the dead horse used to be has long since faded away, guys.

I'm sorry. No really. Hey, don't look at me like that. I'm not going to do it again:smalltongue:

Let's see your question.

Am I the only one who thinks the mind control meme is a bit rubbish?

It was quite funny when it was first said, and I would say that it will remain at least a little bit funny if it doesn't get overused. Which it probably has being a meme and all.

On a scale of 'dusty' to 'there's s**t everywhere', I'd say this particular meme falls just before rubbish and just after crummy.

So to answer your question, no, not yet.

That particular meme is beginning to run its course. I wouldn't declare it dead yet, but more at the lolcat level.

IT'S NOT THE SHIFT KEY, IT'S THE BILLY MAYS BUTTON.

Don't you mean BRIAN BLESSED?!? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1zjeYhJs7o)

Moff Chumley

I don't know, I think BILLY MAYS FONT is more appropriate. I think BRIAN BLESSED's relationship with capslock is more akin to that of CIAPHAS CAIN, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM.

Now with more SAN loss in each bite!

I realize that I'm saying this kinda late, but I only just checked out this thread. And I realized that I have never looked at Keld Denar's avatar. At least not enough to register anything beyond "ice cream".

To be honest at some point a meme stops being a joke per say and more a ritual, a way of acknowledging that we're part of the same community and have the same phrases.

Of course, it's important here to note that there's a difference between the common use of the word meme and the actual definition.

Do any of the senior Playgrounders remember the name of the thread where Roland first did that? As I've heard it told, there was a whole thread that he scrubbed every post and said those famous words: "There is no mind control citizen, go back to your fun." I'd love a link, to take a look at it myself. :smalltongue:

Basically, a cross between Cthulhu and Nurgle who has achieved internet memehood around early 2009, but traces its origins back to the ancient times of All Your Base.

I am not familiar with Zalgo. What is it?

To invoke the hive-mind representing chaos. Invoking the feeling of chaos. With out order. The Nezperdian hive-mind of chaos. Zalgo. He who Waits Behind The Wall.

is He Waits Behind The Wall, in a palace of tortured glass, served by legions forged from the tears of the sleepless dead and clad in armor carved from the suffering of mothers. In his right hand he holds a dead star, and in his right hand he holds the Candle Whose Light Is Shadow. His left hands are stained with the blood of Am Dhaegar. He sings the song that ends the earth. The hivemind that confounds the living, and perpetuates the torture of the damned. He takes the eyes, the window of the soul, removes the ability to feel...anything but pain. Once the eyes have been removed, the soul is removed. The living husk is testament to cruelty and everlasting doom. He cannot be stopped, as fear cannot be stopped. He is inseparable from reality, as he exists beyond the veil...waiting.
ZALGO... He waits behind the thin wall you have built in your soul to free yourself from him... he waits... but he shall come... and will sing the song that will end YOU...
