My point is, it's really hard to link a vague sentence like "should have died" to a deux ex machina event, specifically V's. I was thinking it more along the line of somebody coming back alive while everyone thought that they were dead, and when that didn't work out I went for someone dying for someone else's sake.

What strip you were referring to was not obvious. (The answer itself was correct).
