Are there any playable Plant races out there? The fewer RHD and LA, the better. No homebrew or Dragon sources please. I thought Kiloren were, but they are actually plant-like fey...

Woodling is about the only one I can think of, and its a +3 LA...

Only one I know of is a Treant (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/treant.htm), but it's got 7RHD and +5 ECL

Volodni in Unapproachable East are plant-type with +2 LA. I don't know if they have a 3.5 update, though.

Good pickup, I'd forgotten all about them!

Should still be 3.5 legal. :smallcool:

There is one! It's in a Monster Manual! I don't know if it's playable but it's kinda snazzy and I think they hate elves or something! I'll look it up when I get home! Exclaimation mark!

My main concern would be the half damage from piercing thing, which sort of thing is usually replaced by DR in 3.5 for consistency purposes as I recall. Or I could be misremembering how these things update.

Myconid Junior Workers in MMII with the 3.5 update are LA +2, although they really shouldn't be. They have a few extra ability points along with tiny size and plant traits.

Found it, I think! Needlefolk, MM2 p. 158. If I'm reading it right, LA+1. See here (http://www.orcedinburgh.co.uk/wiki/Needlefolk). And yep, they despise elves.

You mentioned the Killoren and there's also the Thorn from MMIII.

There are a few interesting homebrewed races on these boards.

Muscherons (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10752) and Mushroomfolk (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10979) are two I found without much trouble.

You know...Plant is one of the legal creature types for Rapid Strike, if you are planning on utilizing natural attacks. More attacks are better than fewer attacks!

Gah. Those are freakish looking. I guess it's unreasonable to expect a cute cactus creature, but...

We have a much-beloved Wood Woad NPC in our current party. Can't remember what the LA/RHD is on it, but it's worth checking, I guess?

8 RHD and +3 LA. They're not very good for PCs.

Ah, my mistake. I thought they had a bit less of WotC's "NO YOU CAN'T PLAY THIS" to them.

Uhm... why not just make up some stats for an awakened rose bush?

Small Plant:
Speed 40' (multiple roots for legs), slam 1d4, +2 dex

Medium Plant:
Speed 40' (multiple roots for legs), slam 1d6, +2 str, 2 plant HD (1d8, good fort, 2+int skills, 3/4 BAB)

Plant Traits:
* Low-light vision.
* Immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects).
* Immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, polymorph, and stunning.
* Not subject to critical hits.
* Proficient with its natural weapons only.
* Proficient with no armor.
* Plants breathe and eat, but do not sleep.

I'd give them LA +1 and +0 myself, but WoTC would probably do +2 each, considering that everything we've seen so far except Needlefolk has been +2. Speaking of Needlefolk, their description isn't that bad, it's just that the artist apparently decided "thin, almost emaciated humanoid covered in sharp bristles" meant "huge mantis with lethal backfro".

Yeah, I'd be pretty comfortable redescribing/fluffing it if I ever used them.

They statted the races from China Mieville's books (I forget what the setting was called) in one of the Dragon Mags, didn't they. There's some cactus people for ya.

Should still be 3.5 legal. :smallcool:
Volodni also get the ability to use that special Bluewood material, which is great for a wildshaping druid to be able to use plate when in wild form (with that enhancement whose name I forget) No oathbreaking!

Lunar genesis experiment. Mechanically, a Heroic Mortal with most/all BP spent on Mutations.

Character sheet half-finished, expect inconsistencies.
