Using 1 dose of Bitterleaf Oil while resting - allows me to gain 2 HP instead of 1.

I'm assuming, of course, that all X/day items/abilities are restored, and that we gain normal HP for resting.

In addition, I'd like to purchase Arcanist's Gloves(Magic Item Compendium, p110 - 2/day as a swift action, add +2 Caster Level to a 1st-level spell cast in the same turn - Cost: 500 GP).

Yes but since you're level 2 you gain 2 hp instead of 1. So that means Bittlerleaf oil gives you 4 right?

Acutally you can't till level 3, if you don't wait till then, you won't be able to pay the xp cost. Or you could stay blinded until you do, I guess.

Well you'd get xp much faster then the rest of the party. Once you start fighting Cr 4 monsters.

nat 20's don't mean you automatically do anything unless it's an attack roll or save. nat 20 only gives you your highest possible initiative.

As a stadard action, Nikeed will retry the knowledge (religion) check.

well, I have some weak cures at low levels that aren't likely to hit, have a 50% miss chance, allow a save, AND puts me in melee, where if they drain my wisdom I'm screwed.

oh, and I can only do 4 a day. and those are my heals for the party.

the ONLY magic I have which has ANY chance of hurting them would use up our party's heals... and odds are I would miss and since wis is my only stat that matters, I'm not risking my wis on this. I myself am only 8 wis away from getting screwed over.

I know technically allips are cr3, but there's plenty of lvl3 groups out there which are totally screwed against them.

Scrolls of Restoration are 800gp each... Aside from that... a scroll of Corpse Candle(Spell Compendium, p53 - Sor/Wiz 3, no costly material component - 375 GP) would remove the miss chance caused by incorporeality, and would allow people to use their full spell selection. So if you can take the allips out within 5 minutes, we should be fine - if you use Mage Armor/Shield to give more defense against incorporeal attacks, it'll help with that.

Failing that, I suppose wands of Magic Missile would work as well, though I'd think one scroll(or 2, for that matter, if you want a backup) would be less expensive than outfitting everyone with wands.

A scroll of Corpse Candle, for reference, would last 5 minutes, and the candle it creates illuminates a 5' radius around the candle. It can move 50' at the beginning of the caster's turn, and isn't limited by concepts such as gravity or obstruction. The candle cannot take damage, but is vulnerable to dispel effects. If it moves beyond 35' from the caster, the spell ends(due to the candle moving beyond the spell's range).

EDIT: Actually, screw Mage Armor, go with Ectoplasmic Armor(Spell Compendium p77 - Sor/Wiz 1) - Gives +5 AC(with an added +1/2 CL) versus incorporeal touch attacks only. Ghost Touch Armor(Spell Compendium p102 - Sor/Wiz 2, Clr 2) applies the Ghost Touch effect to whatever armor you cast it on - useful for a heavy armor wearer. Ectoplasmic Feedback(Spell Compendium p78 - Sor/Wiz 2) - Deals 1d6+1/CL force damage to any attacker that hits you with an incorporeal touch attack, but allows SR from the attacker.

Careful fighting, spell conservation, and a wand of lesser vigor would be my suggestions.

As a wizard, I don't get many spells per day at such a low level. I also don't get any sort of battle capabilities at this level. I'm not sure how I'm going to be of any help...

It will take a little doing, but I believe we can beat this encounter.

I have 970 gold which would by one restoration to heal me up to full. I'm willing to put in the rest to purchase more as well so others can be returned to the fight. In addition, I have some scrolls of shield and mage armor that I can make available to members of the party.

Though I can't purchase anything now myself, be aware that I WILL reimburse those expenses involved in getting me back into fighting shape. Aside from that, my recommendations stand above - though if we already have Mage Armor/Shield available, Ectoplasmic Armor/Ghost Touch Armor/Ectoplasmic Feedback wouldn't be worth spending the extra funds on. I still recommend a Corpse Candle scroll, however.

I'm withdrawing from this game. I am just not having fun with this. It just does not seem like the combats have been things even remotely close to what this party can handle and i respect the "whatever I throw at you" title. Just, apparently, this game isn't for me.

Honestly, I'm enjoying this. These Allips are the first thing that we really weren't prepared to handle - the Dire Rats, we'd have been fine with if I had used that trinket of mine right away. (It would take a lot more than a dozen dire rats to take down a Huge Monstrous Scorpion, after all.) And I think it's more that people don't think about incorporeality at such a low level - let alone coupled with stat drain of any kind. If it weren't for the fact that they literally CAN'T kill, I'd expect two Allips to be a CR 8+ fight.

Still, it was fun having you while it lasted, planswalker. Hope to run with you again in the future!

Well Shadows can kill, turn people they kill into shadows, and are also incorporeal. And they are Cr 3

Allips and Shadows are notorious for being low CR when they should be much higher. The CR system is very, very broken, as it assigns CR to BAB, HD, and Spell-Like Abilities. It does not, however, take into account Supernatural Abilities. Thus, Allips end up with Babble, Incorporeality, Madness, and Wisdom Drain without raising it's CR over 3. Shadows similarly get Strength Damage, Create Spawn, and Incorporeality without affecting their CR. The system is rather shaky at best and is meant to be a guideline.

With the wand of magic missiles it wasn't the incorporeality or even the drain. It was the increasing hit points. I just couldn't do enough damage to keep up.

Sorry to see you go, Planeswalker. I understand, but I am having a great time and plan to see it out.

Newt, do you wear armor? Because my plan is to just beef up my ac before pulling out the wand of magic missiles and I have a scroll of mage armor and a scroll of protection from evil that I can use on you too.

I think you, Blues eclipse, Dax Thrua, and Morcandi. But Blues eclipse, and Morcandi were reduced to 0 wisdom and thus couldn't do anything.
