A while ago I did a one-shot, based on a movie The Reaping. Something strange was happening in a town X and our adventurers/inquisitors had to go and check it out. They all loved this one-shot (managed to kill the wrong person and were chased out of the city by a mob of angry villagers) so I thought of some more of such movies, where monsters work covertly in a certain community/place/remote base. Or, well, any sort of a movie, that might make a good foundation for my inquisitor-ish band.

So far I came up with this:
- Sleepy Hollow
- Twilight (similar sugar-induced ideas much appreciated)
- Silent hill (will make it medieval-ish version)
- 30 days of night
- The hills have eyes

... anyway, anything that has a specific place with strange happenings is much appreciated.

And then, our Inquisitors arrive ... monsters and innocents should be scared

Read Shadow over Innsmouth! It's not long and can easily found online for free.

I think the entire "creepy isiloated villagers" sub-genre goes back to this story.

Inquisition-based, but less horror:

The Name of the Rose (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091605/). The original novel is by Umberto Eco.

Not a movie, but watch the TV show Supernatural. Also the suggestion of reading A Shadow Over Innsmouth is a great one.
