View Full Version : Weird Dreams (Are Made of This)

I had a weird dream last night. In it, there was this rich man who was a crimefighter like Batman, but with a spider motif, who was running an orphanage and had three sidekicks. One of them was like Spider-Man, the other was like Power Girl and I don't remember the other one. There was this butler and a black gardener who were like Alfred. And then Power Girl-sidekick was captured and thrown to an island that was a glorified brothel and shopping center. And then she escaped through some complicated plan involving that guy from Shaft (SHAFT!).

It had some more details, like the Spider-Man-sidekick not being very fond of spiders until the crimefighter taught him how wonderful spiders are and a tennis court that was closed after 23:00.

My imagination is screwed up something fierce.

Hah. I, for one, love hearing people's dreams. It's one of the things that got me into Psychology studies - where I had a class just yesterday telling that dreams usually are about wishes we have. Maybe the one you had involved the wish that you want more action in your life?

Such things aside though, I have my fair share of weird dreams, though I have them only like once or twice a month - probably due to sleeping less than I used to. I do remember though that the weirdest dream I recall involved me walking through my high school, which suddenly had multiple floors, when a plane crashed right into it, Airplane! style, after which Darth Pikachu hopped out and challenged me to a children's card game duel.

Most recent I recall was me and some friends walking through the city in the center of the country and randomly happening on a castle in the city where a fancy party was being held. One of my friends who lives in that city acted as a tour guide while another started to sing, making everybody look our way. Meanwhile, I shook a post-it paper and it made a sound like maracas. Then me and another guy got some cheesecake from a bunch of old ladies.

Yeah, they're usually short, but I've had longer ones, or ones with more realism or action in them. There was one where I got turned into a Mayan girl that was pretty interesting.

Then riddle me this M-Bark. :smallwink: I have three most common dreams. One is my teeth falling out, the other is getting late/getting killed and the last is constantly fighting with my boyfriend. Those are not wishes by me. XD

Anyways, before my constant strain of nightmares I used to have bizarre dreams all the time. Flying, fighting, I even dreamed that my primary school gym had been replaced with a swimming pool and characters from Aladdin were then invading said swimming pool. Also sometimes I dream dreams where in I remember stuff from other dreams and remember them as real life happenings. Those are crazy. :smalleek:

The most bizarre dream I can remember though was when I dreamed I was in a building and I believed I was stuck in a Half Life game. There was a murdering robot on the lose and I was in a tourist group. We were escorted to the roof, but things were going horribly wrong. Suddenly another tourist group crossed our paths and had my dad in it. Then the robot came in and we had to hide and get through a forcefield so it wouldn't follow us.

I woke up there and then when I fell asleep the dream continued. I was in a long hallway with rooms on one side and forcefields making spaces in the hallway. In each room you would have to solve a puzzle to get the forcefield down so you'd be able to pass into a new piece of hallway with a new room and puzzle. After a while the robot broke through but was moving extremely slow.

My whole family was there and we trying desperately to solve all the puzzles and stay ahead of the robot. I only remember being in the third to last room where the room was covered in a timedevice so time inside there was going slower then outside. My mom came in and said my dad had been killed weeks before by the robot which I hadn't noticed cause I was trying to solve the puzzle.

I woke up there thank goodness. While more a nightmare then a dream, this dream still haunts me to this day and it's the weirdest dream I've EVER had. :smallsigh:

I had a dream I was playing Go with my World History teacher. He wasn't that good.

Yeah, my dreams are boring, but I don't dream much to begin with, sadly.

The last interesting dream I remember, from about 3 years ago:

I was sitting in my house, I guess (it's not like the house I live in now, but I suppose it was my house for the purposes of the dream). So I'm sitting there in a chair, my brother's in the other room, and I look up to see on the wall, written in blood, DO NOT WANT.

Unfortunately, it wasn't until later that I got around to looking for anything to come after WANT, so I assumed it to be the whole message. then my brother yells out at me from outside "Bears are attacking me!'

I run outside and find two North American black bears chasing after my brother, and neither of us has a weapon. I stand there dumbstruck as I try to figure out exactly what I'm supposed to do. "How do I stop bears?" I think to myself.

Suddenly, the bears plow into an invisible wall that erected between my brother and the bears. "Oh. I guess I do that. Weird, I can't do magic normally," I say to myself.

So after a few moments of random magical tinkering, I manage to kill the bears. I look up at the house and see, again on the wall, DO NOT WANT. So I take one carcass to the house and my brother takes another down the road to be thrown away (apparently doing so at the same time would be bad or would screw up the plot of this dream, I don't know).

So my brother throws away his carcass, and on his way back a van pulls up beside him. Someone opens the door, jumps out, and throws him inside before they drive off. "F---," I think. "Now I have some moral obligation to get him back."

Deciding it would be a bad idea to just walk down the street, I carry the bear carcass up to the roof and start running across roofs, which is no problem because there's no space between houses. Somehow, though, there are branches despite the lack of trees, so I have to duck and dive through them. I do so, slamming my hip into a large branch, but it doesn't stop me, and I still have my bear carcass.

I touch down near the harbour (just a random harbour) where the van pulls through some gates. The gates turn into what amounts to a big glass barrier with a door ('cause apparently, a door is suitable deterrent to intruders). So I get down and set the carcass down behind a fallen sign from the local magical animal shop. Then I go to the house next door, because apparently it's where Charlie Weasley (from Harry Potter) lives.

I walk in, where I see DO NOT WANT written on the wall in blood again. "Charlie, are you home?" I ask.

"He's not here" Arthur Weasley answers from the next room in a distinctly New England accent.

"Oh, okay." I say before just leaving. (Stupid plot making me genre blind to the obvious truth of what's going on and not pressing the matter). Anyway, I leave, and go back toward the doorway to the harbour. I open the door, and then a bear jumps off the wall to land behind me (Spiderbear?) and growls. I open the door, run in and let the bear follow. Then I jump, grab the doorframe, and swing through before closing the door with the bear inside.

I watch as the bear rampages throughout there, growling at me, and I just think "I need to distract it."

I think a little, and a shadowy person appears on the other side, distracting the bear. Apparently his name is Hugo, because that's what I thought of him as right then.

Then I think, okay, distracting the bear won't do what I need, so Hugo explodes, killing the bear. I get up to go through when a large ship pulls into the harbour. I duck behind the sign where I look at the wall and see it. DO NOT WANT JESUS. Then, in binary. Then, in what looks like ancient Sumerian cuneiform.

Apparently, whoever is behind this wants to steal Christmas. Which is weird, because it feels like a nice summer night (I suppose it's like June or July or something).

So I hide behind my sign again, when a guy walks off the ship. He looks identical to Sephiroth, except his hair is shorter. Trailing behind him are two mummies, four zombie football players, a few skeletons, and various other (thankfully unintelligent) undead. And then his pet cat jumps off, meowing because it knows I'm here (yeah. Sephiroth has a psychic cat in my dream world).

So I hide behind the sign, and Arthur Weasley steps outside to speak to Hugo (my shadow person who exploded is, apparently, immune to that part of it), and Sephiroth walks up to him too. They're standing within feet of me, so I curl up into the foetal position because this sign is a little small.

Sephiroth asks where I am, and Arthur truthfully states that he doesn't know. Hugo is, apparently, gone again. Sephiroth looks at the magical animals shop, and steps inside Arthur's house, saying something about destroying Christmas.

The undead and cat follow, giving me my chance to get to the ship. I run through the door, no bear this time, and think. Going onboard would be a stupid idea, so I jump onto the pointy mast thing on the front of the ship.

And then I woke up. And actually remembered a dream, which is weird.

I had a dream last night about the history test I failed today. In my dream, I failed the test, was expelled from school, and then went on an adventure to find my exercise pants.

Well of course nightmares deal with fears. :smallwink:

Have another one to add that I had last night, and to read over the new ones, but that later, as I must run for the bus!

That's an awfully image-rich dream, SaintRidley. Very interesting.

Well, I don't remember my whole dream, but I can recall this part: I was a woman, and I possessed some kind of psychic powers, including the projection of energy blasts and flight. Also, I had an evil twin, a woman who seemed bent on world domination. I can't remember exactly what her plan was, but it seems that in a given point, I was chasing her (or was I the one being chased?) through a two lane road in a rural landscape, in a car that resembled a Mini Cooper, with a sunroof. I think she was chasing me, flying, and I was repelling her through the use of some psychic power, projecting it against her while standing through the sunroof. I think I had a group of friends with me, and I think a girl was driving, though I can't recall her face. I can picture this happening under a cloudless, starry night, so it must have happened in the last hours before dawn.

There's this time-skip then, and suddenly it's twilight. The sky is colored in a deep orange tone, mixed in with yellow. We're at this house, near a swamp, inside of which, it appears, we both gained our powers, somehow. She dares me to look inside and see the truth of our abilities: she goes in, while I watch from a distance. Inside, I see this... Shadow, lacking any body, painted on the wall. It was a human-shaped shadow of a male, and somehow, I know it eats souls, and so does she. It lunges itself upon my sister, who screams and then vanishes. I run like there's no tomorrow, and eventually, take flight like there's no tomorrow.

The rest of the dream is quite angst-filled. I spent most of it flying throughout the earth, going through most continents trying to escape the shadow, which now had the size of Dr. Manhattan and seemed to be chasing after me, although it wouldn't shy away from devouring all of humanity while doing so. I simply couldn't get it off my trail, it seemed to go wherever I went, now. There are a few details I can't recall, here, such as the fates of other characters in that dream. It seems to relate to a bus crash.

I recall flying through clouds while being chased by the monster; I recall hiding inside mines, where too it could find me. It seemed to be everywhere. Eventually, I too am devoured, and remain in the dream simply as a spectator; though that's after all of humanity has been eaten by the soul-consuming shadow. I recall a distinct feeling that the earth was now... Empty.

The last thing I remember is the site of the aforementioned bus crash. The scenario resembles the swamp where the house I mentioned earlier was located. The sky was nearly green. Well, there was this person with red hair, yellow-greenish skin, and a sort of olive green leather armor, who was hanging out of a bus window from the waist, wounded from the bus crash, and drowsy from it. He awakes up in a world where it seems he's the last person (I'm not even sure he wasn't an alien) alive.

And this is when I wake up.

The idea of the soul-devouring shadow seems to remind me of .hack//'s epitaph of twilight and its plot, where an unknown entity is devouring the world, but that's all correlation I'm able to trace between something I know and this dream.

I just had a pretty strange dream, though it's by no means the weirdest I've had:

I started out standing right in front of a house that was not quite mine (though it was mine in the dream) on a not-quite-mine street at dusk. At the top of the street (the street I live on goes up a hill) stood a pair of silhouetted figures; I immediately knew that I had to follow them, wherever they were going.
Looking down, though, I realized I had no shoes on, so I went inside my house and hastily crammed some on.
But as I passed by the bathroom, I noticed that the bathtub was full to the brim with tomato soup. For some reason - it made perfect sense then - I took off my shoes and filled them both with the tomato soup...and then put them back on.

This done, I rushed back outside - only to find that the figures were gone. I knew I'd spent too long putting on my shoes and had missed them; the dream ended there, with a deep feeling of disappointment.

I'm still at a loss to explain it.

I had another weird dream last night.

Basically, there was this World War III that made it so there were mutated monsters outside the cities everywhere, and this guy went out into the wilderness and was nearly killed by monsters, but Adam Baldwin came and saved the day. Then Adam was taken away for some science experiments, and the other guy found Serenity from Firefly (I never even watched Firefly), and everyone except Nathan Fillion was there, and there were three different people. And the guy from earlier suddenly had to deal with the fact that he was in a spaceship in space. Also, Jewel Staite was lovely as always.

AND WASH WAS THERE, TOO!

I've been having strange dreams since my parents left for their Florida vacation. Most of them have involved my parents coming back from Florida early, and last night I dreamed about stealing a motorcycle and driving it without a license. :smallconfused:

I had a dream in which I was riding a Tyrannosaurus in some windy field, running from something evil. Don't know what. It felt as if I were in children of the corn (the movies), so it was scary. I dreamed that thing two or three times.

Months ago I dreamed of being in a dark building, in a school of sorts with some other people. The man that was teaching us was very reserved and suspicious, and there were strange things happening, like when the lights went out for a few seconds, or when I got a creepy call on my cell phone. Anyway, it turned out the whole building was haunted, and the dream ended with me beating up some evil shapeshifting clowns. It was awesome.

I had a dream last night where I was leading a rag-tag group of men in cobbled together armor (football pads, construction worker hard hats, rollerblader knee pads, so on) into battle against pterodactyls with machine guns and molotov's. We all died. It was glorious.

One of the strangest dreams I remember was the opening theme to a made-up anime. It had a beautiful rich lady who controlled a frankensteinian monster, there was a cowboy whose forearm was a prosthetic, and he had, like, a revolver mechanism in his forearm and each time he 'fired' it he got a super-powerful punch. There were a few other characters too, that I'd never seen before. Apparently, my brain created them SPECIFICALLY for this dream.

Also, I've lately been plagued by semi-nightmares of a woman. A woman with pale skin and black hair. But where face should have been, there were eyes. Dozens of eyes, of all colors and shapes, all randomly placed over her face. She was just standing in the middle of my room and looking at me. I was scared, but for some reason, I couldn't stop myself from thinking 'she has beautiful eyes'. I had another dream of her later, that she was kneeling at my bedside, peering over the edge of my mattress. Just looking at me. I thought it looked kind of cute, oddly. Her eyes looked so sad, and she looked so shy... The weirdest part is that in this dream, she was standing in MY ROOM. Not a dream-scape resembling my room, but like, a photo-realistic view of my room from where my head was lying on my bed.

Dreamed the other night that I was teaching a class, in one of those lecture halls with the blackboards that slide up and down to reveal other blackboards. It was a very nice room, very comfortable, with cool blue lights that made people smarter (this was very clear to me in the dream.) All the students got vodka cocktails and sushi from a tray near the door as they entered.

I started teaching, and I realized that the blackboards didn't just slide up and down; they could pivot around several axes, and there was always another board behind them. You could have a potentially infinite amount of board space, and all the boards you had pivoted away somehow remained visible. The boards had always been that way; I had just never noticed. And it was entirely clear to me that all the reasons for ending a class -- people are hungry, thirsty, tired, bored, sleepy -- are all keyed to running out of blackboard space. If you never run out of space, everyone will remain fresh and alert indefinitely.

So I was very happy to realize that we could simply keep this lecture going forever. I could literally teach the students everything I knew, and then invite others in to teach everything they knew, and none of us, including myself, would ever get bored or tired because there was always more blackboard space. Even time would not be a problem; it would not be time for the class to end until the boards were full.

I was really looking forward to it.

My dream from last night is fading, but I found out that one of my friends was the new avatar and we had to hide her, and then we formed a little Resistance group and met at a diner. But then some of them turned out to be firebenders, and that's why they'd been trying to convince us to go fight dragons.

I had a dream last night about my family being on vacation. And we took my dog (A big, black-and-white Siberian Husky) along, and left him in the motel while doing...whatever it is we were doing. We come back, the glass is smashed in the window, from inside to outside, so we assume he jumped out the window and is roaming the streets of the city we were in. So, we're running around calling his name and looking for him when I pass this shady-looking guy speaking to his equally shady-looking friend, "Tonite we'll have some fresh, lean Siberian Husky meat for you." Upon which he turns and walks into this huge warehouse. I then spend the rest of my dream turning into Deku-me and Goron-me, like from Majora's Mask, infiltrating the building, and rescuing my dog.

My brother told me there's a trick to remembering your dreams and eventually mastering lucid dreaming. When you wake up from a dream, immediately write down the dream, keeping some paper and pencils near your bed for this purpose. Then, when you're finished, reread the dream you've written down before going back to sleep, and then read it again in the morning. From what my brother said, repeated practice will eventually allow you to return to a dream you've woken from "to see how it ends" as you will. And given enough time, you can start to control your dreams.

I want to start trying to record as many of my dreams as I can. The trouble is that there are so many details you can pour into a dream record, and I can only write so fast. I'm thinking about getting a keyboard with a really long cord and sleeping with it. Should be easy to type quick with my eyes closed that way to remember as much as I can.

Not just one dream, but for about a month straight, I had dreams about saving people. It was never the same threat, but often the same people. Scarily, I almost died or did die in many of them.

Another time, many years ago, I had a dream about ghosts. Not humanoid ghosts, but spherical orbs floating, that could talk. They surrounded me and my friend while we were in his basement, and then they disappeared. Just gone.

Dreams are something special, how, I don't know. But I wish I knew.
