View Full Version : Insanowar classic: Random number something

Robert Blackletter

Welcome to Insanowar

Da Rules:

1.) There are five players, each of which represent a commander of their army.

2.) Each player takes turns choosing some powerful character, semi-powerful group of characters, or large mob of expendable non-characters from any sort of media. Examples: The TMNTs, a Dreadnought from 40K, a mob of kobolds.

3.) When each player has 10 selections, the game begins.

4.) A map will be provided showing the layout of the battlefield. Each person will have a base of operations with which they can wage war. Note that each base is about 2 turns away from each other.

5.) A static turn order is established. In each turn, the player dictates what their troops are doing, as far as the opponent can see. Secret actions need not be reported (although it is good sportsmanship to give hints as to what your are planning).

6.) When troops engage, the person whose is attacked decides the outcome, which will usually NOT be all one way. If there is any friendly dispute (and the dispute WILL be friendly, or else), other players/playgrounders chime in with their opinions. If no consensus is reached, it's a 50/50 slaughter.

7.) The winner is the one who wins.

Da Guidelinez:

1.) You can't choose anyone TOO powerful. No gods, demigods, anything like that. Make it something that's about the same power level as the other troops on the field.

2.) Don't be a jerk. The objective here is to have fun--frankly, who wins and who loses is pretty arbitrary anyway. This game is definitely straddling the line between Silly and Structured.

3.) Respect Awesomeness. If a player is pulling off something that's just too awesome to believe, that should aid his victory.

4.) Enjoy yourself. Seriously, guys.

And i also play with these guidelines

1)You must post with 3 days or let the host know about any delay or lose that turn.

2) No retcon's of your picks death. ( I notice that this was happening alot generally with the proviso "but i got no one else interesting in my army". THIS IS NOT A GOOD EXCUSE. Ether pick more interesting people or make the survivors interesting.) Rule 3 overrules this only when logical for a given value of logic (god damn rule of cool)

3)Time travel works as a one off Mulligan but must not cause paradox within insanowar universe

4) all rules can be ignored with the host/ rule of cool consent

5) the host is the final judge on what is fair and what is not.

O.k order is

I'm planning entirely on Kobolds, with various groups of them. DND Kobolds, to be precise.

Let's see...

1) 500 Kobold Minions (Big number, but weak indivendually)

2) 50 Kobold Trappers (Build traps on the battlefield for the others to fall victim to, but not immune to own traps)

Oh, right.

*facepalm*

I wasn't thinking that much. My brain thought that because ED picked two instead of one it was still his pick.

1. 8 Special Operations Sangheili (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Special_Operations_Elites), two equipped with plasma swords (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Energy_Sword), one with a beam rifle (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Beam_Rifle), 3 with covenant carbines (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Type-51_Carbine), and two with plasma rifles (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Plasma_Rifle).

Righty-hoo. Mah first pick.

1. Homunculus Wrath, AKA Fuhrer King Bradley (http://fma.wikia.com/wiki/Wrath)

Robert Blackletter

Yes, if I see a problem, I will let you know, post two this round exxept external drifter he only gets one

Okay. Just so you know, I do have one other anime pick planned... but after that, I intend to stick to non-anime. Partially because I dislike picking too much from one genre anyway. :smalltongue:

I do ask in advance- how many Space Marine Terminators would be one pick? I'd say five, myself, but someone might disagree.

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-14, 06:59 AM
2.) One Large Shoggoth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoggoth)

3.) The Red (http://www.teamfortress.com/spy.htm) Spy (http://tf2wiki.net/wiki/Spy), the Red (http://www.teamfortress.com/sniper.htm) Sniper (http://tf2wiki.net/wiki/Sniper), The Red (http://www.teamfortress.com/demoman.htm) Demoman (http://www.teamfortress.com/demoman.htm), and the Red (http://www.teamfortress.com/engineer.htm) Engineer (http://tf2wiki.net/wiki/Engineer), and the Red (http://www.teamfortress.com/soldier.htm) Soldier (http://tf2wiki.net/wiki/Soldier)

Robert Blackletter
2010-10-14, 07:09 AM
five seems fair, Space Marine Terminators are just elite troops with a good weapon selection.

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-14, 07:10 AM
Were my TF2 picks OK? Just thinking the four of them probably would have trouble with 5 terminators...

horngeek
2010-10-14, 07:18 AM
<.<

To be honest, they've got one of the best armors... ever. They can survive being stepped on by a Titan.

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-14, 07:22 AM
Ahh. Fluff terminators are probably 1 or two per slot imo. They are ancient and badass supremes

horngeek
2010-10-14, 07:24 AM
That said, fluff space marines are all like that.

...I'll go rules Terminators.

Robert Blackletter
2010-10-14, 07:25 AM
Where my TF2 picks cool? Just thinking the four of them probably would have trouble with 5 terminators...
well if you want add more of the TF 2 red team
edit one condition, you have to link more of the movies :smalltongue:

<.<
>.>

To be honest, they've got one of the best armors... ever. They can survive being stepped on by a Titan.

true but they do lack mobility, and there urban/ space hulk/ hive armour, the terminator do great within the bases but as in all things they have there weakness, out in the field they can be out gunned, even if it just a lucky shot (hell, I once took out a terminator with Gretchen fire, though this was in an earlier edition, I shot something like 50 shots on him, 10 hit and he fail to roll 3+ on two dice twice) So powerful but not immortal just remember.

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-14, 07:26 AM
Then I would have no issue with 5.

Of course, its Robert Blackletter's decision

Edit: Adding more tf2

horngeek
2010-10-14, 07:31 AM
Okay. Overall, my picks will probably turn out to be 'powerful, but not many'. Because I roll that way.

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-14, 07:34 AM
Added the Soldier. Because he has the best remaining video

Now my main issue is do I narrate as the Spy or the Soldier ...

Added the Soldier. Because he has the best remaining video

Now my main issue is do I narrate as the Spy or the Soldier ...

Both? depending on what need within the post? please?

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-14, 07:47 AM
That works

The spy will of course not be around after the first post, so I guess I could have the soldier drill everyone else :D

LISTEN UP MAGGOT! YOU CALL YOUR SELF AN ELDRITCH ABOMINATION? I'VE SPREAD UGLIER THINGS THAN YOU ON MY TOAST. WHICH I THEN BLEW UP. FOUR TIMES.

So, on the topic of numbered groups...

How many Soldier Heartless would be too many?

Robert Blackletter
2010-10-14, 09:06 AM
the heartless are fairly weak, so a fair few.

KerfuffleMach2
2010-10-14, 03:14 PM
the heartless are fairly weak, so a fair few.

Well, depends on the Heartless. But, I think Soldiers are, like, the second weakest, just above Shadows.

Robert Blackletter
2010-10-14, 04:01 PM
Well, depends on the Heartless. But, I think Soldiers are, like, the second weakest, just above Shadows.

So I should have been more concise, (fan of KH1 and KH2) but this,

Eternal Drifter
2010-10-14, 04:36 PM
Right...

2) (From above) 50 Kobold Trappers (Build traps on the battlefield for the others to fall victim to, but not immune to own traps)
3) 20 Kobold Warmages

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-14, 04:55 PM
What can warmages do? I think convention is that if there aren't any links, a good description is required :smalltongue:

Eternal Drifter
2010-10-14, 05:24 PM
Right... can cast various spells to speed up people of their army, slow down people of their enemies, heal some of their wounded, and such. Basically, utility Mages. They can also use a few weapons, but typically stay out of combat; lightly armored, they cannot take many hits.

billtodamax
2010-10-15, 01:22 AM
2. Storm (http://x-men.wikia.com/wiki/Storm#Powers_and_abilities) (But nerfed a bit, obviously.)

billtodamax
2010-10-15, 01:44 AM
So...

Archer can shoot ghosts out of his bow.

That's all I got HG. :smalltongue: When he attacks, please describe his attacks really well. Otherwise I'll be thoroughly confused.

horngeek
2010-10-15, 01:54 AM
Oooh, right. Noble Phantasms are weapons that were carried by heroes of legend. When they are summoned as heroic spirits, they have the weapons they owned during their lifetime.

Archer can 'trace' these weapons. Not to full capacity, but he's very flexible.

Noble Phantasms explained. (http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Noble_Phantasm)

billtodamax
2010-10-15, 03:32 AM
Imaginary weapons, gotcha. Not sure where he's going to find any of those on the battlefield, so am I to assume he'd already have some?

horngeek
2010-10-15, 03:48 AM
Indeed. Archer's been around other Heroic Spirits, quite a bit.

Staaaaaats.

So... It's a Vampire (With same weaknesses/strengths as a traditional vampire?) that can shape flesh really well? That's pretty cool.

2010-10-16, 05:44 AM
Staaaaaats.

So... It's a Vampire (With same weaknesses/strengths as a traditional vampire?) that can shape flesh really well? That's pretty cool.

It's a White Wolf Vampire.

...this suggests to me it's a complete Badass. :smalltongue:

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-16, 05:51 AM
Yeah, this wants elaboration I think

VtM Vampires: Sunlight and fire cause massive damage and fear, stakes through the heart paralyse, guns and other blunt trauma weapons are practically useless. Making a vampire angry may send it into a blood frenzy The Tzimisce clan weakness is that they need to be buried in their home soil each night.

Vamps can buff their physical abilities to superhuman levels, at the cost of blood. However, as a low generation Elder, the Tzimisce is unlikely to run out. Especiallygiven a pick I havent made yet

This particular Vampire is fit, cunning, but socially inept. He doesn't really get guns, but kicks ass in close combat. He is a twisted artist when it comes to fleshsculpting. He plays the harpsichord at a grade 5 level.

It's a White Wolf Vampire.

...this suggests to me it's a complete Badass.

Yes indeed

My turn for Picks? Ah...

7.) 10 Kobold Commanders (Smart in tactics, good at leading armies, and quite strong in combat themselves)
8.) 8 Kobold Diviners (See what the enemy is doing everywhere, to avoid nasty surprises; can cast a couple damaging spells, but nowhere as powerful in combat as a Warmage)
9.) 1 Kobold Overlord (VERY strong, skilled in combat, can use many spells of both healing and damaging nature)
10.) 20 Kobold Assassins (Fast, can turn invisible, and can strike for a LOT of damage on humanoid targets. Willing to adapt tactics to the target (stakes to the heart for vampires, for example) but not very threatening if caught in the open and can be pinned down)

Keep in mind, I may draw from the Kobold Supply line to keep the troop level up and to adapt to specific tactics, but it will take a turn or two to get supplies. And if the minions get too low on numbers... then they will be replaced by some of the supply line.

[The War-room]

The members of the newly formed Project Mayhem sit around a large wooden table, waiting. Krauser begins tossing his knife into the air and catching it with a bored expression. 'When is this bastard getting here anyway? he growls

The Sniper frowns and replies 'Listen, 'e's got perfectly good reason to be late. We need his info before we can try anything, right. Just shut up and be professional won't you?'

The Soldier stands up, eyes blazing Intel? Intel? Listen here you communist, we certainly didn't need Intel when we blasted the Germans out of Pearl Harbour! I declare this Intel to be the kind of thing that sissy little girls use when they're playing housewife with their frilly little ...

Sir, I insist you cease slandering our superior Officer immediately Interjects Chard

Oh, the Englishman wants me to be quiet does he? Well, Mr rule Britannia, let me tell you a thing or two about

Gentlemen

A wave of silence hits the room as the spy enters, moving to the head of the table.

I have returned with ze necessary intelligence.

There's a snort from the soldier

It seems we are in a much more difficult situation zan we initially imagined.

...

30 minutes later.

...

So your saying that we're trapped in this goddamn is-o-lated area with these un-American freaks and wierdos until we're the only goddamn sons of bitches left standing? Excellent. I'll be with the front line soldiers, killing people, like a proper, non-pansy.

The soldier stomps out of the room.

Right. Now zat jingoistic imbecile is out of the way, I suggest that we talk strategy. Lieutenant Chard. Would you have your men take a defensive position around the preliminary defences?

Chard nods. Yes Sir

The vampire, previously silent till this point speaks up. 'I vill trawel to the hangar room vith the elephant, the Ogryns, my ... serwants, and the protoplasmic abomination as ve discussed

The Engineer laughs I guess that's my cue too then

The spy nods at them, his distaste for the vampire showing. 'von ... I mean wonderful. Mister Strider, Mister Krauser and Miss Aran? you are aware of your roles in ze inevitable conflict? Bro and Samus both nod. Krauser scowls Good. If you would kindly wait in reserve until your services are required.

He turns to the remainder of his team.

The sniper nods. 'I know mate. Up in the tower.

An I'll be mannin' the defenses, making the prancin' bastards go KABLOOIE!

Well then, Gentlemen. Lets begin zis operation ...

Bro Strider, Lil' Cal, and Samus Aran are on reserve

The Vampire, the Engineer, the Shoggoth, the Mumak, the Ogryns, an the helpless civvies are doing ... something in the hanger

Lt. Chard and his men are setting up defensive fortifications behind the first gate, assisted by The Soldier, the Demoman, and the Sniper

The Spy is ... where did he go?

Edit:

Oh and with the civilians about 2000 of them, but they have no skills, are panicked easily and they came from the shallow end of the gene pool. That seem fair?

Day 1

Kobold Outpost

"Great... just great..." mutters a kobold. "I know Wochass sent us here on a holy quest... but I'm thinking that he's out of his mind."

A kobold next to him nods. "Kurtulmak's pick... if we aren't careful, he may wipe us out. He even got a dangerous ally on our side!"

"I heard that," said the dragon. "You two talking about how useful I will be in this war of yours?"

"Order, friends! Order!" yells a kobold nearby. "Get back in line!"

After a few moments, the crowd of Kobolds settles down, and the Kobold on the pestral looks down before speaking.

"I have had a vision many years ago, a vision that we will rise up from the ashes of our old reputation of a race that is only worthy to be killed by adventurers! We will conquer them, and then we will rule! We have the gods on our side, Kurtulmak and Gaknulak, to guide us and protect us, as well as several of the dragon gods... so we give thanks to each of them, and special thanks to Goldenscale, the dragon who has decided to serve with us."

A general applause occured, and the brass dragon nodded in apreciation.

"On our holy quest, my vision has led us here, to this forsaken land, which we have reached after several days of tunneling through the mountains nearby. Now, our seers have seen we are not alone in this quest for the holy land, and that there are four other armies in bases much like this one. In order to gain this holy land, we must drive them back! We must banish them to where they came from, and let no one stand in our way! By the will of the gods, we will prevail!"

"Now, we will win this war by the way we always have: traps! Standby for assignments! We will get this underway, and make the first strike!"

With heavy applause, the Kobold Overlord bows and steps down, three of his commanders barking out orders.

"Any word from the Diviners?" asks the Overlord to his assistant (effectively a minion).

"Not much sir... we are gathering a little information about the base to the northwest of us, but other than that... they are a little annoyed that they seem to be missing one of the powerful opposition... it appears though that there are a lot of commoner humans."

"Very well... Our scientists?"

"I hear they have discovered some form of explosive powder... though I think they might have stolen it from other civilizations."

"May be useful for traps... how soon can we get a steady supply for it?"

"About three days, if we rely on the scientists. More, if we rely on the camp."

"What's our... eh... friend's assignment?"

"None at the moment..."

"Wait for further orders... I'll be in my office..."

"Yes, Overlord Wochass."

Kobold Camp (Away from battlefield)

"Watch it! If you had dropped that match, we would have all gone up!"

"It's out now... what are you so worried about? That they shoot the suppliers?"

"Don't blame me when you get shipped to the frontlines when you are caught by your incompetence, Sovak. How's that food shipment going?"

"Sent it by request last night. Should arrive tomorrow."

"What about the dragon's meal?"

"Eh... was two dozen gold coins enough?"

"You'll won't live though this war... you know this, right Sovak?"

Kobold Outpost-Field

"Right men! Form up! We are going to trap the battleground like no tomorrow!" called a commander. "There will be three scouting groups, each will consist of one commander, twenty five regular troops, two trap masters, and one warmage each. Everyone going out will recieve rations for three days. Regulars are to obey the Commander at all times, as will as listen to the warmages and trap masters. Commanders are advised to listen to the trap masters as well. I will be leading one scouting group, Volak my warmage assistant. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Commander Alzak. Let's move out!"

"Oy! One more thing! Watch out for that hole that Goldenscale dug! Lazy dragon... don't know why he decided to come with us... Could be useful, though..."

The assistant laid a report on Wochass's desk, and returned to looking outward.

Day 1 Report:

Three scouting groups of 30 troops each have been dispached to servey the surrounding area, as well as start laying traps.
Remaining Minions are running around, practicing with their swords.
Remaining Trappers are working on creating some traps around the base, particually at the entrance to the battlefield.
Remaining Warmages are looking around, practicing some of their weaker spells.
Kobold Supply line is working to provide enough food for the kobolds on the war front. They neglected to send enough food for the dragon, however. They are also continuing to create spare weapons and continue to mine for supplies.
Kobold Scientists have brought gunpowder to the fight; five of them are working out how to make more of it, the rest are working on making even better weapons and armor for their army.
Goldenscale, the dragon, has dug a hole in the base to rest in for the moment.
Remaining Commanders are working to figure out how to best take out the base to the northwest, since they currently have no information about the rest.
Kobold Diviners are working like mad to learn about other enemies... three of them have been pulled off the rest in order to scry that spy.
Kobold Overlord is writing in his diary.
Kobold Assassins... three have joined up with scouting groups, three more are secretly heading towards the southeast base, the rest are all practicing their hiding skills in their base.

"Sir, what are your orders?"

The two men walked down the corridor together. Eyeing each other with dislike, but fighting together. "Hmmm... I want you to command the Hammerers. You will be on base defence unless I radio you with further instructions."

"What about Beserker?"

"He will go with the Space Marines and Archer. I will accompany Noble Team and the tank."

"...and the boy?"

The man with the eyepatch frowned. "...he is too soft, although powerful. He should not have been called. He will guard the base as well."

Roy Mustang nodded. "Very well, Fuhrer King Bradley..."

The forces of the team moved out. Seven men, six in armour, one in a red cloak, started moving out, while a tank rumbled across the ground beside them.

((Sorry for the late reply.

It's at this point you realise I haven't read Frankenstein))

They called me mad, MAD! But look who's mad now! I've assembled the greatest army to have ever lived! And, with my brilliant leadership, they will conquer this puny-

Your leadership?

Alas, Frankenstein's monologue was to be interrupted once again. He had been trying to deliver it for hours now, but these people kept popping up everywhere!

The Rebel alliance outnumbers everyone here. Heck, if anything, the bothan should be in charge. He's the highest ranking.

It was one of those damnable pilots. Victor still had no idea how they worked, but he had been assured that they would fly through the air like the birds themselves. Well, he would have to see about that.

I've explained this to your co-pilots one thousand times! I shall be undisputed leader here! None will challenge my authority! He thumps his fist on a handy table.

Look, whatever. Me and my boys are going to cruise near our base. Make sure nothing gets too close. I'd send out that crappy little tank too, for all the good it's worth. Hey, there it is now.

A small, blue bubble flies through the room at a blistering pace, corners badly, and bounces against the wall, spinning around crazily. it has a couple of yellow bubbles on top, pointing around quizzically.

Oh, get out of here! Go... to the front of the base or something. Just get out of my sight!

The little tank whizzes off excitedly as the pilot heads for his speeder.

***

On the top of my base, two snipers jostle for position.

Look, just back off okay? I'll take this side, you take that one, how hard is it?

Why should you get that side? I'm clearly the superior sniper.

Why does it even matter!? We're getting attacked from both sides. The Rebel Marksman frowns. Just... fine, whatever, you take this side. I'll go over to the other one.

The Elite smiled with satisfaction as he crouched down and surveyed the battlefield with his beam rifle. The marksman on the other side of the roof did similarly with hers. The Elite disappears quite suddenly, with only the faintest of disturbances to show that he's even there.

***

Meanwhile, the Farseeker casts his mind out wide, looking for any units that are coming towards my base.

Army List:
1. 8 Special Operations Sangheili (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Special_Operations_Elites), two equipped with plasma swords (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Energy_Sword), one with a beam rifle (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Beam_Rifle), 3 with covenant carbines (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Type-51_Carbine), and two with plasma rifles (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Plasma_Rifle) - The one armed with a beam rifle is on the top of my base, invisible. 7. A powerful Farseeker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obernewtyn_Chronicles#Powers_of_the_mind) from the Obernewtyn Chronicles - Scanning the land around my base for any units that approach.

[Planning Room]

Three figures sit around a table. One wears a black and red bodysuit, complete with mask. He has a pair of katanas on his back, and semi-automatic weapons on his belt. The second is a female with silver skin and eyes, and red hair. The third wears a blue bodysuit, with their head wrapped in a white cloth. It's hard to tell at first glance whether it is male or female. Off to the side sits a silver, brand new Corvette.

Alright, so we gotta blow the other peoples up, right? The masked man leans back in his chair and props his feet up on the table in front of him. That shouldn't be too hard. Especially cause we got minions! Hooray for minions!

The silver woman sighs a little. Deadpool, just because we have those Heartless and Nobodies doesn't mean this will be easy. They'll all have their own groups as well.

But...minions!

Deadpool, the third figure speaks with a vaguely feminine voice. We have to plan our moves. We can't just go rushing in.

Deadpool looks at each woman for a moment, then turns to face the car. You support the minions, right?

I'm gonna have to agree with Sheik and Mercury on this one. A slightly metallic voice sounds from the car. We should plan our first move.

Deadpool turns back around and folds his arms over his chest, pouting a little. You guys are no fun!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

[Just Outside the Base]

Two figures stand on top of the gate. One is wearing red pajamas. He has black hair with white streaks, a blue face, and an extremely large grin. The other is very short, round, and pink.

Sooo...who'd you pick for the Super Bowl? Freakazoid is leaning on Kirby, talking to him.

Ah? Kirby looks up at Freakazoid, not having any idea what a "Super Bowl" was.

I think the Yankees will make it this year. Yep.

Below them, the ground in front of the gate has way too many shadows upon it.

--------------------------------------------------

[Inside]

A short, blue, vaguely doglike creature is currently chasing a bald, yellow man around. The man is swinging a pair of tongs around like a sword, yelling many random things. Around them, many white, dragon-like figures wait patiently to be commanded.

---------------------------------------------------------

Synopsis
Deadpool, Mercury, Sheik, and Sideswipe are making plans.

Freakazoid, Kirby, and the Heartless are on guard duty.

Blockhead, Stitch, and the Nobodies are waiting.

Day 2

Kobold Outpost

The base was in chaos.

"They are already on the move for war?" asked a Kobold. "I thought it would be at least another day before they came out!"

"We haven't set enough traps yet!"

"We're all going to die!"

"ENOUGH!"

Wochass stood on the pestral again, gathering the attention of the crowd.

"This is an unexpected development," Wochass called. "I, too, thought it would be another day at least before war machines were pushed out. But we have the upper hand! We have had our seers spot them miles away. We have our scouting groups out there, setting traps already. We are relitively secure in our fortress, with little that can get into us. What we will do is recall the scouting groups, and organize a counter-attack force once they have returned. In the meantime, we will continue to make improvements to our fortress, and prepare ourselves! We will show that we have been favored divinely by the gods, and that we will win no matter what!"

Field, Half day hike from Kobold Outpost

"What?!? Already?!?" cried the commander.

"Return immeditely, enemy is on move and closing in on your position with heavy war machines," continued the message.

"We will hurry back as fast as we can," the commander replied. "We will move out within minutes."

The message ended, and the shape of the kobold seer from back in base disapeared.

"Men!" called Alzak. "We need to move! Now! The enemy is heading our way!"

"Let us finish this hole..." called a kobold. "We just need to cover it..."

"I'm nearly done with these runes," shouted a Kobold Warmage.

"Fine, then we move ASAP!"

Field, day hike from Kobold Base, near approaching war machines

"Looks like the chick has left the nest..." says an Assassin.

"A perfect opprotunity..." says the second.

"This will be easier... I thought we were going to have to sneak into their base," muttered the third.

"Let's wait and see," says the first again.

And all three turn invisible, and start approaching the war machines, trying to stay out of the path.

Kobold Camp

"That's the second one today!" says a kobold, as one looking green is pulled out of the nearby mine on a stretcher.

"At least we have enough food to feed the army... though I'm not sure about the Dragon."

"Hey! It's not my fault I wasn't informed about the meals of dragons!" Sovak calls.

Kobold Outpost

"That spy may be good..." mutters a Diviner. "We can't find him."

"Look," says another diviner. "Have you heard of the spell True Seeing? I have an improved version of it. It cuts through any illusion by magic, and ignores hollograms from the most recent technology of the enemy side."

"That's good. Do you have it prepared?"

"Sadly, no. It has a long casting time, and short duration... I need to get a Warmage for Permanecy. THAT would show him a thing or two."

The dragon still snores in his hole.

The assistant laid another report on Wochass's desk, bowed, then left.

Day 2 Report:

Kobold Base is getting prepared for an attack.
Wochass has returned to his office.
Two of the scouting groups are returning, but one is delayed, finishing setting up traps.
Kobold supply line has had two miners fall ill for some unknown reason.
Kobold scientists are continuing to work on their assigned projects.
Kobold diviners are continuing to scry other areas. Three are focused on the force on the move.
There are now several traps in the field (trap holes, explosive runes). These are mostly southeast of the Kobold Base.
The Kobold assassin trio is now moving towards the moving enemy invisibly.

Hey. Nightcrawler teleported to the top of my base, and is now standing next to the rebel sniper. Who isn't taking it so well.

Holy crap, you wanna get yourself killed!? She shouts, holstering the pistol she had just pulled.

Hey, calm down okay. I just need to use your scope for a second.

Why? The sniper asks suspiciously, handing over the rifle. Nightcrawler brings it up to his eyes, looking down at the kobold supply line.

Keep your gun pointed there. Night crawler says, before teleporting off.

[Kobold Supply Line]

Supplying the troops was thirsty work, alright? And that was probably why this kobold had wandered off to get himself a drink. I mean, it's not as if there's much of a threat, is there? Sitting here, nice and far away from the battle.

Sadly, this kobold will likely find Nightcrawler appearing behind him, placing his hand on his head, and teleporting back to the top of my base, where...

He's likely to get shot point blank from a sniper round.

K, thanks. Frank needed a corpse. Nightcrawler says, before teleporting back inside with the corpse.

Kobold Supply Line

This particular Kobold was an ametur scientist, trying to figure out why there was a particular sickness starting to spread around the rear base, where supplies were manufactured for the main base in the front. Far from strong, his mind was the best thing of him.

Unfortunetally for him, he was sent to help trasfer a load of food to the frontline, where he had gotten wind that they were starting to panic. That left little time for him to think about the problem back in the rear camp, miles behind him.

"I need a drink," he told one of the other nine transporters, who nodded.

The scientist split away from the group, and headed to a nearby river.

"Let me think... this water is probably unsafe to drink unless I clean it first... going to take some time..."

He took five minutes to get his purifying system underway, and then sat and thought while it worked.

"There are many minerals that are in the mine..." he muttered aloud, "And probably we haven't discovered all of them yet. What was that kind of material that worried humans so much... What if we have some of it in the mines? What if we that is what is making our miner's sick? What if its- URK?"

At that point, he was teleported away to the enemy base. And his last sight was of a sniper rifle pointed right between his eyes.

"Oh, Cr-"

And everything went black.

Kobold Outpost- Diviners

"Holy pick! He can teleport?!?"

Summary:
Kobold Supply Line attacked. One Kobold ametur scientist missing and dead. Two Kobolds sickened.

Also, he was actually responding to an attack, not launching one of his own. Perfectly legit.

I think the responses are still supposed to wait until your turn, though.

And, since you're waiting, guess it's my turn.

[Inside the Base]

Hey! Blockhead! Get over here!

The yellow bald man runs over to Mercury, tongs still in hand. Yes, Captain Kirk?

Captain...Know what? Never mind. Don't wanna know.

You get into your position, got it?

Blockhead nods. Then bites off a chunk from the tongs.

Mercury sighs. This is gonna be a while.

Stitch, can you watch him for me?

The little blue dog thing nods, and follows Blockhead as he wanders.

The Corvette pulls up behind Mercury. Was it wise to have that strange man here?

He'll be good for something. Just gotta figure out what.

Alright, let's start telling the Dragoons what the plan is.

[Just Outside]

Freakazoid stares out from the wall with a pair of binoculars.

Hey! I see lizard thingies! Can we keep them?

[Summary]

Mercury and Sideswipe are giving the Dragoons their orders while Stitch puts Blockhead where he needs to be.

Freakazoid, Kirby, and the Shadows keep watch still.

Sheik and Deadpool...huh...where'd they go?

HG! Post something, man! It's entirely fine to be like: Welp, my guys are interacting with each other and planning things.

Please... you have two groups of Kobolds near your mobile army. Of course the one that's obvious is by now finished with a ton of traps in their area... but your army doesn't know that.

Okay, by this point, I think we should skip HG's turn.

No offense, HG, but it's just been too long.

Actually, I'll just say actions: the mobile army will have taken up defencive positions in the middle of the field.

...also, Beserker is in the tank. :smallconfused:

No other actions.

bluh - I'm without proper internet till Monday - I can't really write long posts from my phone. Could people either wait, or defer my turn?

Hmmm...guess it's Eternal's turn, then.

My turn? Ah, well... sorry for the delay. I think I was kind of hoping that someone else would post their actions...

Ahem...

Day 3

Kobold Outpost

"Made it!"

The last group of trapmakers runs into the area, panting heavily.

"We need to be more careful next time!" calls Commander Alzak. "No delays! If that group wasn't focused on fortifying, we wouldn't have gotten away! I want all of you to practice your battle techniques, and prepare yourselves! We might be sent out again!"

"Commander!" yells a kobold, running up to Alzak. "You were in the field, so you didn't get a chance to get this news..." Papers are exchanged, and Alzak faints.

Nearby, a kobold is chuckling. "I told you he wouldn't take it well," he says. "You owe me a gold piece."

"I'm just the messenger," comes the response from the delivery Kobold, walking back to the other. "An enemy that can teleport at will... who wouldn't be surprised? Can I get back to you on that gold piece?"

"Teleportation, huh?" mutters Goldenscale, the Brass Dragon. "I think I can top that. I just hope that those mages and those scientists don't come up with something."

The Warmages (that aren't exhausted from running, that is) are working like mad to figure out a way to prevent intruders from teleporting in. It's not going well yet.

"Oi! Where are those material components I ordered?"
"Who took my familiar?"
"Watch where you're going!"

Center of Battlefield

Eh? What's this? Those assassins have disapeared!

Oh, wait...

With a flash of blades, one of the Kobolds becomes visible for only a moment, stabbing the man in the red cloak in the back a couple times, then disapearing.

Time to cause some death.

Meanwhile, the other two Assassin kobolds is trying to weaken the tank in a couple areas... trying to make it fall apart if it moves a certain way... all invisibly, of course...

Kobold Supply Line

"We're loosing miners..." says a medic. "We need to figure out what is causing our men to fall ill."

"Think it could be something to do with one of the odd stones one of the miners found?"

"Send it to the scientists. They'll know what to make of it."

Kobold Outpost

"This war is off to a poor start..." mutters Wochass, leaning back in his chair. "Not only is someone attacking our supplies, something is poisoning the Kobolds back there. And that army of the enemy's stopped JUST short of the trap-field..."

One of the kobolds walks in with another report, and leaves it on Wochass's desk.

Summary:

Kobold Base is getting chaotic, worried about teleporters.
A total of ten Kobolds from the Supply Line are out of commission. A strange rock is suspected in causing 9 of the 10 losses, and is being sent to the scientists on the frontline.
Kobold Assassins are stealthfully attacking Horngeek's army.
Last group of trap-setting Kobolds has returned to base, their commander chastising them for delaying to put up more traps.
The Dragon is finally making plans.
Wochass is trying a cup of tea to try to cool his nerves.
Warmages are now trying to make the area teleport-proof.
Seers are weary from continuous scrying. One of them claims to have a new seeing spell that pirces all illusions, mechanical and magical.
