A hoi hoi, my boy, this is up my alley.

Exalt- Lunar!

Gender- Pah! We are a Lunar. A Lunar needs no such petty distinctions such as a sex. Male I guess, if only to lower the possibility for fanservice. :smalltongue:

Location- North. Because the Sky Vikings live there. Also Ice Weasels.

I'll point out that that pic's a Solar, but I don't know if it'll change anything.

Yes, she's a Solar, and she's awesome. So, in theory, if you made her a Sidereal, she'd be even more awesome, though significantly less powerful.

We need a Sidereal Panda Lady who specializes in grabbing people by their fate strings so they can't move and then punching them into ducks. What do you get from just a plain ol' Lunar? Super furry magical girl transformation knack go? Nah, nah, duck punching. Duck punching is where it's at.

Jokasti
2010-10-11, 10:51 PM
Duck punching is a bit of an ambiguous term. It could mean:
1. Ducking while punching.
2. Punching ducks.
3. Punching something into a duck.
But yes, duck punching is indeed awesome. I think everyone would get tired of seeing PandaGirl surrounded by ducks though.

A female Sidereal on the Blessed Isle. Why? Because that gives maximum chance of her getting involved in politics and red tape, instead of just running around pretending to be a Solar, Lunar or other thuggish exalt in the threshold!

Also, being a celestial special agent works best in civilization and we all know that those thresholders are barbarians.

And, iirc, setting themselves on fire at full anima.
And while i'd faint from the pun damage implied on this scenario, i don't find that very alluring.

Now let's consider the water caste.
i say again, water.
with "moisture" involved
and considering Water aspects favor martial arts
which are mostly used with light armor or no armor.

Do i need to make myself more clear? i Really hope i don't.

And don't start with the "burning clothes" thing. That's just impractical. :smallamused:

Earth aspect? Easy as pie.

The full silver disc represents the full moon, which is the Caste Mark of the Full Moon Lunars. The Cresent Moon represents the Changing Moon Caste, and the Black disk represents the No Moon caste.

Blue is the color of air, and the little swirls are supposed to be air swirl things- they represent the Terrestrial Aspect of Air. The red flames represent the Aspect of fire, and the green leaf is symbolic of Wood. The Water Aspect is represented by the black drop, and the Earth Aspect is shown by the whit slab at the bottom.

The scarlet sign is that of the Maiden of Battles, and the cerulean one is Serenity. Yellow is the color of Journeys, Green is secrets, and purple is Endings.

Left to right, top to bottom, you've got

Full Moon, Air, Changing Moon, Fire, No Moon, Water, Wood, Battles, Journeys, Serenity, Secrets, and Endings.

They don't really do anything, although exalts have anima powers which interact with their caste marks.

Yuki Akuma
2010-10-13, 10:46 AM
They in fact do a lot. Changing moons can craft illusions around themselves, for instance. The Lesser Signs that the different Sidereals can use are nice, and the Greater Signs are awesome. And the different anima abilities of the Terrestrial aspects can be quite useful - Water aspects can breathe underwater, for example, and Air aspects can jump hella high.

Plus, your caste or aspect dictates which abilities and charms you find easiest - although you have leeway with that in the form of favoured abilities.

(Except for Lunars, who have favoured attributes instead.)

Except that totally doesn't apply to either Ragara Myrrun, Sesus Nagezzer or Tepet Ejava, the three most famous Wood Aspects around.

...Myrrun is an Earth Aspect.

Also, Aspects define personalities more than they define abilities. Since Aspect is biological, unlike Caste, which selects people of the according inclinations, an Air Aspect might not have any dots in any of his Aspect abilities.

Wood Aspects tend to be compassionate and vibrant to the point of being hedonistic and slutty.

Terraoblivion
2010-10-13, 07:33 PM
Yeah, stupid me. I meant Bhagwei, the leader of the Heptagram in any case. Ragarra Bhagwei is a Wood Aspect, just like Tepet Ejava and Sesus Nagezzer and i wouldn't say any of these three have a whole lot in common. I mean i can tell what the themes of the others are. Air aspects are passionate, but in a colder, more distant and methodical way than fire aspects, they also tend to be academic and easily distracted. Earth aspects are stable, dependable and unlikely to engage in any flights of fancy, making them generally quite conservative. Fire aspects are emotional and passionate and all hero'y, kinda simple really. Water aspects are adaptive and pragmatic above all else. But what are the traits that can be said to unify Wood aspects? I've even read their aspect book and i still couldn't find a common thread.

The Rose Dragon
2010-10-13, 07:37 PM
Except for Air Aspects, each Aspect maps onto a Virtue. This does not necessitate that they have many dots in those Virtues, but it is supposed to color the way they act. Wood Aspects get Compassion. As such, they are more protective of life and more emotional than other Aspects, though not as much passionate as Fire Aspects, who map onto Valor.

Terraoblivion
2010-10-13, 07:42 PM
All Dragonblooded are passionate and emotional. It is part of their nature as MoEP: Dragonblooded makes a point of repeatedly. They are just passionate about different things. Air aspects about abstract ideals or their work for example, while Fire aspects are more guided by their pure virtues and immediate causes and so on. Also Wood aspects are just incoherent. Some are hedonists, some are woodsmen, some live modest lives as vintners, some are generals and so on. There's no real unifying aspect of their skill sets, personalities or typical roles they adopt in society.

Welcome to Terrestrials.

Dreams of the First Age pointedly reminds you that Aspects do not define as much as Castes. Wood Aspects are hedonists in the original sense of the word, and in a social scale. They seek to reduce pain and increase pleasure for the most. All of them go through with it in different ways, played by their Virtue distribution.

That doesn't mean they can't change, however. Just like a Fire Aspect might find tranquility, so can a Wood Aspect find apathy.

Well, there are consistent traits for the other aspects. Air aspects don't become grungy musicians using three chords and the truth, it doesn't go along with their focus on complexity, theory and abstraction. Earth aspects don't pioneer radical social change, though they might end up becoming a pillar of support for it. Fire aspects aren't going to sit down and ponder what the proper course of action would be for ages, they act. Water aspects don't cling to a plan or an idea long after it has become impractical to achieving their wider goals. I can't find any such consistent theme for Wood aspects. The nurturing life is sorta offhandedly mentioned a few times, but it is never really showcased by any of the sample Wood aspect characters given.

Well, I think at this point it's pretty much decided: Our heroes are:

Lunar Full Moon Caste, Male
Sidereal Chosen of Venus, Female
Terrestrial Fire Aspect, Female

I'll get started on the title page and opening comic.

Aspects are not Castes - they're decided by your genes, not your personality.

While your Aspect will certainly colour your personality, your upbringing will definitely affect it too. Have you ever met kids who are nothing like their parents?

The direction I was asking for was for the location at the beinning, but they'll be flying all around Creation, so that wont matter. However, I have a couple missions planned out, and the vote winners (north and south) will be the first two locations.
So, anywhere, really is fine to pick from.

Not for Mickey, though. Now, Benjy or Frankie, those are names!

Could also go for Falcon or something. So long as he wears a mask, commands a ship, gets some pointers from the Terrestrial in Fire Dragon Style, and gets in the habit of shouting out attacks of his own renaming.

No, aspect is not determined by personality, but it does influence personality to a rather large degree. Not only that, aspect carries heavy social expectations with it that makes others actively try to make you behave according to your aspect. So there are consistent personality traits that are if not universal to each aspect, then overwhelmingly common, through both the elemental power of the aspect and the social strictures encouraging you to adopt those personality traits.

Also just as importantly, that doesn't change that consistent character traits have been presented for each aspect except for Wood, both in the descriptions of the aspect itself and in the descriptions of characters of said aspect. WW has also been rather clear that they consider aspect to carry significance for who you are and not just which abilities you are the best at using. Wood is just poorly defined compared to the others, that's all.

Yuki Akuma
2010-10-14, 08:02 AM
...Hm. I wonder what your personality would be like if your father was Water, your mother was Air and you ended up being Fire.

This would involve a lot of odd ancestry and a terrible Breeding, but...

Jokasti
2010-10-14, 08:05 AM
I thought Sidereals determined that Aspect is not chosen by genes but by personality and such. Genes only determined how likely you were to Exalt.

Terraoblivion
2010-10-14, 08:19 AM
Genes do have some effect. The child of two Water aspects is more likely to exalt as a Water aspect himself, despite being raised by his aunt who was a Fire aspect, than he would be to exalt as a Fire aspect. But it is not the sole determinant, anybody with dragonblooded ancestry, no matter how isolated, could potentially exalt as any of the aspects.

Spirit Shape?

One Step Two
2010-10-14, 08:38 AM
You know this line of questioning leads me to an awesome imagery of First Age Solar and Lunar sorcerers with a bunch of un-exalted Dragonblooded in a sort of habitat. Using different breeding/stimuli/nutruting trying to decide what causes them to Exalt to which caste. Then of course, as the great curse kicks in and the tests become a little more bizarre.

Yuki Akuma
2010-10-14, 08:39 AM
I'm sure in the First Age the Solars could just ask the dragons or Autobot.

Or Lytek. Does he have any purview over Terrestrial Exaltations, or just Celestial ones?

(And by this I mean the process of becoming an Exalt, not the physical Essence-artifacts that cause the process in Celestials.)

Jokasti
2010-10-14, 09:06 AM
Lytek is the Right Hand of Power, in charge of Celestial Exaltations. The Left Hand of Power is in charge of Terrestrial Exaltation. He hates what the dragonblooded have become, and is obsessed with genealogy, trying to make a First Age-level Terrestrial is his greatest dream now.
