I'll start on red, you start on blue. Assuming you're medium sized, you can start on any of the four squares.

Do you have a preference for number of buff rounds, or other such details?

Goodness. Two exhibition matches at once? You're a busy man.

Jarian

Were I a man, that might be true.

Heh. Busy fellow, then

mrcarter11
2010-10-12, 01:52 PM
Nope, buff rounds aren't needed I don't think. I can cast as I as go for the most part. I can't be on too long though, so this will have to be tonight, or tomorrow, is that alright Jar?

Jarian
2010-10-12, 01:56 PM
Sure thing.

No buff rounds is fine with me.

mrcarter11
2010-10-12, 02:09 PM
Okay.. Tonight or tomorrow then. Question, am I facing a PC or a monster like the playtest threads?

Jarian
2010-10-12, 02:21 PM
You're facing my ToDE Swordmage//Proud Warrior.

mrcarter11
2010-10-12, 05:13 PM
Oh dam.. That sounds painful. I have to reselect my cants since he deleted some I had planned to use.. I'll start in B10 though.

Jarian
2010-10-12, 05:14 PM
As far as I know, none were deleted. A few were shifted up or down a level though.

mrcarter11
2010-10-12, 05:20 PM
Dancing Guard?

Jarian
2010-10-12, 05:25 PM
They're still there. (http://wiki.faxcelestis.net/index.php?title=Dancing_Guards)

It was a minor mistake with the formatting. I'll make sure they get added back in when it's next updated.

Jarian

Whenever you're ready, initiative: [roll0]

mrcarter11
2010-10-12, 06:14 PM
Alright, I'll change the sheet back. And we can do this tonight or tomorrow.. Thanks.

mrcarter11
2010-10-12, 11:06 PM
Rolling for initiative, [roll0].. So, in theory what are my chances of winning this?

Jarian
2010-10-12, 11:09 PM
We have the same primary tricks available to us, we just have a different set of secondary abilities. It could go either way.

You're up first.

mrcarter11
2010-10-12, 11:25 PM
I stay where I am. I use Word of Power on Call the Hungry Dead. Summons up four Large Undead.. I believe I get to select which.. I'll go with four umber hulk undead.. Then I'll use my standard action to cast Walk the Unseen. Which is Greater Invis. Off topic, since you have my sheet should I be able to see yours?
Turn Complete.
(So, what action does an attack action override, my standard I'd assume)

Jarian
2010-10-12, 11:28 PM
Adison (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=246397) and her Weapon-Bound Fiend (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=246493).

For the record, finish with Turn Complete whenever you're done, so I know I can take my turn.

mrcarter11
2010-10-12, 11:43 PM
Just realized I need initiative rolls for my undead.
[roll0] Starting in B11
[roll1] Starting in C9
[roll2] Starting in C10
[roll3] Starting in B9

Jarian
2010-10-12, 11:46 PM
Don't bother. They act on your turn to make it easier for both of us.

mrcarter11
2010-10-12, 11:52 PM

Well can't see me so, I move to A8 My monsters move to BC8, DE8, DE9, and DE9. I'm guessing you were done, but you never said turn complete.. Last random question, do you still have that PM with my sheet's stats?

Jarian

I have a limited area of true seeing, affecting 60 feet around me. Can I see you at any point in that movement?

Turn not complete.

Also, to answer your earlier question, executing one attack would be a standard action, while a full attack would give you as many attacks as you're entitled to from your BAB.

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 11:26 AM
Each square is 5 feet correct?
Also does you elevation affect that 60 feet? You said your 30 feet up.
So G3, to E1 is 15 feet?

Jarian
2010-10-13, 11:27 AM
Yup. The first diagonal is five feet, second is ten, third is five...etc. It roughly approximates diagonal distances with a small margin of error.

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 11:28 AM
Made an edit, not sure if you saw it.

Jarian
2010-10-13, 11:31 AM
Yes, it is. Due to the map features, there's also a difference of ten feet in height, but yeah.

Yes, my elevation affects what I might be able to see. I basically have a big sphere of true seeing around me.

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 11:34 AM
From my maybe flawed math, with your elevation of 30 feet factored in, no you can't see me.

Jarian
2010-10-13, 11:38 AM
Fly to D-10, diagonal to C-9, continue north to C-7; reverse course, fly to C-13.

If I don't detect you at any point in that flight:The range of my True Seeing doubles to 120 feet at the end of my turn. Do I see you now?

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 11:43 AM
You spot me in A8 when you move.

Jarian
2010-10-13, 11:49 AM
End movement in B-8 +30 then.

Swift: Cast Dancing Guards.

Your cluster of minions are subjected to the effect of an area dispel. (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/dispelmagic.htm)

Dispel attempts, in order of NW minion, NE minion, SW minion, SE minion.
[roll0] [roll1] [roll2] [roll3]

Observers:Nidra manifests without display Dispel Psionics, overchanneled by 3 ([roll4] backlash), augmented by 9.

Turn complete regardless of the outcome.

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 11:52 AM
Guessing I need saves for my minions, problem being I can't open that link since the SRD doesn't get through my school filter.. I'm sorry bout that. :smallfrown:

Jarian
2010-10-13, 11:55 AM
Oh, no, not saves. I just don't know what your CL is, that's all, so you have to adjudicate what happens.

The DC for this dispel check is 11 + the spell’s caster level. If you succeed on a particular check, that spell is dispelled; if you fail, that spell remains in effect.

So, for instance, the first dispel check (on the NW minion) dispels it unless you have a caster level of 20 or higher when you created it.

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 11:58 AM
So I'm subtracting 11 from your roll to see if it is gone, well CL would be 15. So, my middle two would stay.

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 12:11 PM
Bout to take a test, hopefully it won't take to long. I'm firing a netherspear at you. Tis a ranged touch attack,
[roll0]
Damage: [roll1]
Then suddenly I'm gone from your sight.
Using another WoP, to Ghost Step You can't see me anymore, I move to F17
Turn Complete

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 12:19 PM
Sorry for running so much, I'm starting to realize my character is either weak, or very opposed to single combat.

Jarian
2010-10-13, 12:21 PM
Your netherspear seems to encounter resistance in its flight - it hits, but it deals much less damage than you would expect.

Observers:Intellect Fortress halves the damage, since it's a spell like ability.

Nidra skips her turn, extending her vision to 120 feet.

I now have True Seeing out to 120 feet. Are you still out of my vision range?

Turn not over.

Edit: I don't care if you run. Hit and run tactics are very viable. Just don't expect me to willingly let you do it for very long. :smalltongue:

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 12:26 PM
Spot me down in F17

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 12:34 PM
Off topic, dare I ask what happened to my damage. Or if it was magic that stopped it? No real reason just curious. And do swordmage cants count as magic?

Jarian
2010-10-13, 12:36 PM
Intellect Fortress halved your damage.

Swordmage incantations are spell-like abilities, so yes, damage from them is magic.

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 12:38 PM
I have no idea what Intellect Fortress is,, Sounds cool though. I'm gaining the thought that you use psionics..
Still your turn as well.

Jarian
2010-10-13, 01:02 PM
Yeah, I know. I was just thinking how I'm going to handle this situation.

5-ft step to C-9 +25.

Blink Dagger to F-17 +5.

Blink Dagger attack: [roll0] for [roll1] force damage.

The longswords surrounding her attack once each.

[roll2] for [roll3] force damage + [roll4] fire damage.

[roll5] for [roll6] force damage + [roll7] cold damage.

[roll8] for [roll9] force damage + [roll10] acid damage.

[roll11] for [roll12] force damage + [roll13] electric damage.

The chain around Adison's arm also lashes out towards you five times in rapid succession (Greater Storm of Steel on the Blink Dagger attack, plus a normal attack with the chain, triggering Greater Storm of Steel again.)

Attack 1: [roll14] for [roll15] slashing damage. If it hits, take 1 con damage.
Attack 2: [roll16] for [roll17] slashing damage. If it hits, take 1 con damage.
Attack 3: [roll18] for [roll19] slashing damage. If it hits, take 1 con damage.
Attack 4: [roll20] for [roll21] slashing damage. If it hits, take 1 con damage.
Attack 5: [roll22] for [roll23] slashing damage. If it hits, take 1 con damage.

Adison follows this up with Stun, which also triggers Greater Storm of Steel again.

Stun: Attack: [roll24] for [roll25] force damage. You also take [roll26] electric damage, or half that on a DC 27 reflex save. You are stunned for 1 round unless you make a DC 27 fort save.

Attack 1: [roll27] for [roll28] slashing damage. If it hits, take 1 con damage.
Attack 2: [roll29] for [roll30] slashing damage. If it hits, take 1 con damage.

This is immediately followed by Return to Dust, again triggering Greater Storm of Steel.

Touch attack: [roll31]
On hit, you are entangled, and at the end of the round take [roll32] damage, or [roll33] damage on a DC 27 fort save.

Attack 1: [roll34] for [roll35] slashing damage. If it hits, take 1 con damage.
Attack 2: [roll36] for [roll37] slashing damage. If it hits, take 1 con damage. Edit: Double nat 1. :smallfrown:

Finally, Adison casts Tempest Attrition. The chain around her arm disappears into a thin mist as a needle-thin rapier of force appears. She offers you a warrior's salute, then takes up a defensive stance in midair.

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 03:11 PM
Saves..
Reflex 1: [roll0]
Fort 1: [roll1]
Fort 2 [roll2]

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 03:13 PM
Hm.. well I'm stunned so thats game.

Jarian
2010-10-13, 03:15 PM
Hehe. Sorry, but I couldn't take any chances with you getting away from me again. Whenever my cohort takes an action, the range of my true seeing drops to 60 feet. Didn't want you to be able to sneak off.

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 09:30 PM
It's cool. Just worried about a flawed character now. I mean, some things couldn't be helped.. I wasn't expecting you to have that many attacks or anywhere near that many.. And you use psionics I think, which I have zero experience with.

Jarian
2010-10-13, 09:36 PM
Psionics basically boil down to spellcasting with a different cost system. There are a few differences in how they work, but for the most part, just think of me as having a spellcasting ally to deal with your tricks.

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 09:38 PM
I guess.. I have greater dispel but I wasn't sure if it worked or not.. So never tried it..

Jarian
2010-10-13, 09:41 PM
It would only have made a trivial difference if you had done it and successfully dispelled. It would have gotten rid of Intellect Fortress, but I could have put it back up right away.

By default, magic and psionics have total transparency - that is, anything that would affect magic affects psionics. Dispel Psionics dispels magic, and Dispel Magic dispels psionics. Antimagic Field prevents psionics from being used inside it. Etc.

mrcarter11
2010-10-13, 09:47 PM
Hm, alright then.. And nah, if I had actually used that invocation I would have targeted your Sever Gravity.. That's just my thought though. Eh, oh well.. I'm still confident enough in the power of the build I think.
