The ad you saw posted on the job board in the Inn looked simple enough; just simply guide a caravan to its appointed destination, and then come back to the Church of Pelor for payment. Simple. Just follow it on the Trade Route, maybe learn how to play an instrument during the travel, come back on a provided horse, and maybe ward off Bandits or Warders that tried to take the Cargo. Easy.

You enter in the building belonging to the the authorities of Bas-lag, which in these times have had less and less Guards circulating. The War having taken most of the Men and Women to serve to protect the country side against the, leaving the office a bit... bare. As you step inside, you are greeted by the sight of a Goliath polishing a suit of scale mail from its stand. He nods for you to sit down in the seats in front of his desk, as he starts to put his polishing materials away. "You here for something?"

Eberron
The City of Towers, Sharn, is home to many problems; one of them being commerce. Getting in and out of towns, safely, with your goods intact and all together; almost impossible. Anyone could benefit from a several units of wheat, or orders of iron or demands of copper. And almost anyone could steal it, given enough motivation.

Which is why the Church of Pelor asked for help delivering goods to across the countryside. You already went out with the goods, and are now returning to receive your payment. Currently, you are riding in a transport ship back to the church, to meet up with Reverend Marcus Graystone, the Cleric of the Church, to get your due.

Faerun
Calimport. What did you do to end up here? While Sultan Vezhera runs the city as a figurehead, everyone who is anyone knows that the Crime Guilds of the city run it, in and out. Which makes sense that the Church of Pelor would ask for help for delivering food and medicine to Memnon, which is under heavy attack from Raiders and Thieves, most likely coming from the Ruins of the First Kingdom, Mourativi Teshu Mir.

You find yourself standing outside the Church's doors, talking with one Reverend Marcus Graystone, who is talking you through what is asked of you. He is a tall man, with a gentle smile, with large wrinkles lines covering his face from his growing age. "... but yes, that is what is asked, my friends. We don't know what is going on with Memnon, only that they need our help. And what is harming them may harm what we are sending to them, so we need help defending it. As it stands, I don't wish harm on anyone, but... I know how the world turns. Does this sound fair, to you?"

A somewhat thin woman wrapped in what would appear to be nontraditional jassite garments looked up to the Goliath with a pleasant smile. Maester Rogi had often mentioned that a good smile can open many doors. He would then say that the ones who needed dental work were probably better off keeping a set of lockpicks but his meaning got through. Besides, Ruin was a pleasent person, or so she tried to be at least.

"Yes sir." she said in a voice that was reminecent of a gentle wind although just slightly raw, a trait that used to be much worse over six years ago. Nearly constant coughing fits tended to do that. "I am here to inquire as to the written request for aid in escorting a caravan. I am an able fighter as well as being versed in the healing Arts." she supplied, giving the officer a small summary of her abilities.

She also did her best to keep her nose from wrinkling at the smell of metal polish. She used it herself often enough but usually when she was outside. In an enclosed area such as this, the smell had little place to go.

((OOC: Is there a jassite temple in the area? Just had a thought of what to do later on if the opportunity arises.))

A bit of a ruckus kicks up behind the paladin, specifically outside and it sounds like someone's trying to move a stubborn horse or pony inside and for a brief moment there's even a short shrill exclamation of something in Sylvan against the yapping of some damn dog. The clipping of hooves across the floor is enough to turn heads, and there entering the building is a young centaur girl. She's barely a teenager, not large enough to be counted as adult, but she seems strong and able enough to carry her weapons and chain hauberk like a pro, so it does beg the question if this is a joke or the filly's insane.

She stumbles up around obstacles next to the paladin, still muttering in elvish, as a steel harmonica swings back and forth on a steal chain round her neck as she sways to keep balance.

{Even in the streets! Crowded and smelly and they even let the dogs run free! Mon dieau...--Ah!" she looks over towards the goliath. {"Hello, sire, I was hoping to inquire about the caravan guide. Rest assured I have good experience despite my youth and exuberance. I would ...ah... oh dear.."--}

Looking embarrassed, she taps her fingers, remembering her common. "Ah.. I mean, I'm..here... for the...job?"

The dwarf's excitement is in sharp contrast with a different job applicant. This elf seems to be clad in unassuming robes, which goes very well with an accompanying unassuming look; brown, green and other naturalistic colors make up the bulk of the clothes' prints, and he wears his brown shoulder-length hair back, covered by a moss-green hood that doesn't conceal his face. His eyes are of an identical color of that of the sky, and his face is stern, though not unfriendly.

Koehvan is not so much less excited as the dwarf, because it would be his first real adventure since leaving on his master's command to explore the world, making this his first chance to do so. He's just less open about it, as he realizes he's not familiar with these people enough to fully trust them. "Fair enough, I do wonder when we start though." Makes for all the words that come out of him. And as if the elven blood wasn't clear in his looks, it is clear in his accent, though perfectly understandable, the common he speaks has a fluid quality to it similar to the elven tongue, making it clear he's not a native speaker.

Jevin looks out over the railing of the ship and reflects on a job completed. This one had struck him with particular interest in completing, as it was a similar situation that had cost him his brother almost a year before. He knew that it meant a lot for people to have their livelihoods remain uninterrupted by disruptions in the transport of supplies. He'd even gotten a chance to spend a little time in the forge to which he'd delivered a load of iron. He had reveled in the chance to resume, however briefly, a task that reminded him of home.

Despite his satisfaction with the job done, he was less than thrilled with being directly employed by Pelor's church. Either way, he would carry out good works, making things safe for regular people, no matter whose payroll he may be listed on.

Jevin silently waits for the transport to arrive at its destination, and takes this stretch of downtime to contemplate what the future would hold.

Kerazt notes mentally to himself that humans talk in circles even more than drow do, and is annoyed at how unjustified it is in their cases. He glares at the dwarf, ponders the teachings of his god that say that Dwarves are to be avoided and destroyed, and sees the truth and wisdom behind them. Such an overeager man would surely soon get himself killed. Small matter. Kerazt would survive, undoubtedly, due to his superior intellect and self control, and the mission would look good to the surface elves, especially with Koevahn to back him up. Perfect. The Masked Lord would be pleased.

"Works for me," he says simply.

He looks at the two of you with steady regard. "{You sure about that, kid? I know Centaurs are on the strong side, but I don't even know if you could take on this job.}" He says, without pause or indecision of his words. He looks at the other woman, a warrior, and laughs. "Combat? Healing arts? I take it your a Paladin. And from your appearance? Not from around here." Its not a full laugh, closer to a chuckle, but you can still see the amusement on his hard features.

"Regardless, its a light job. Even for someone {such as yourself, kid}, and you, Paladin." He pulls out a drawer, and takes out a small medallion, in the shape of a sun. Its metal, and yellow, with a large circle painted on it in green. "Just take this to the temple, and the Reverend there will explain everything."

[[For If You Two Move This Along Faster Than Expected]]
The Chapel is nothing of special note; it stands next to the Perdido Stree Station, which all major roads end up going to. It makes sense, since most people will see the church as they come out of the tall, almost oddly shaped, tower. Between its many, many paths and roads splitting from it, along with its numerous windows as you go up, any on-lookers would get dizzy just trying to think how such a structure was conceived.

But the Temple itself stands tall and humble, with some followers standing outside, trying to call people in for the sermon that is in session. You can see an Ad on the Temple's Doors asking for help with moving supplies. And to see Reverend Marcus Graystone about it inside.

Eberron
The ship pulls to the side of one of the towers in the lower wards. Rain is pouring down, and in the distance you can hear thunder. As you step off the ship, you can see the Chapel Entrance a light walk away. Overlooking its doors, is a large sun with a face in the middle. You can see people in a line getting inside of the temple, most likely for today's sermon.

Faerun
The Reverend nods and smiles at your responses. "Start? Well, soon, of course. But, I must give today's sermon soon. Perhaps you would join us today? We are always ready to take in new followers." He bows. "I am sorry to delay you, and I promise that as soon as it is done, I will send you on your way." He backs away slowly, waving his hands as if he was attempting to calm you down, and steps inside the chapel, closing the doors behind him.

As you look around yourselves, you realize that as you were talking, people were slowly making their way up the stone steps into the temple.

Kerazt stiffens overhearing the dwarf and smiles widely at him. It's a cold smile that promises retribution.

"Oh, no, wouldn't be proper. Priest of another god and all that. Go, have fun with your human god," he says, keeping the cold smile. "And I would highly suggest that you not insult my god like that again. The Masked Lord is famed for the passion and length with which he holds grudges." He bows sardonically and turns away. Once the dwarf is gone walks over to Koevahn and mutters darkly to him.

"Heathens! The nerve of that walking beard! As if I'd care to participate in some heretical human god's foul worship and anger my god. Dwarves! The foolishness of that entire pathetic race disgusts me, Koevahn. Nothing at all like the sense of we elves."

Koehvan, who witnessed all this commotion with the dwarf and the unfriendly reply from Kerazt, smiles apoligatically to the dwarf now departing, and turns to Kerazt. Though I understand your defense of your Masked Lord, I believe he didn't mean any harm, the dwarf that is." The two of them gradually make their way down the steps, but suddenly Koehvan remembers an old elven saying his master used to tell him; {Gar veri tani veritam siffi, e ta veri Garni veritam eso siffi. Odelhir, niefendil gar fer ta, sit inti millentu.}*

Long as it was, Koehvan remembered it as one of the most used by his master, and it changed his mind completely about wanting to enter the temple of this human god. "Remember I used to tell you about my master and his sayings? Well, listen to this: {Gar veri tani veritam siffi, e ta veri Garni veritam eso siffi. Odelhir, niefendil gar fer ta, sit inti millentu.} I think we should check it out, this sermon." In the process of saying this, Koehvan turned around and walked back up the steps slowly and deliberately, then turned around and told Kerazt, "After all, we're taking a job they offer, and so is this 'walking beard', we don't want enemies among our colleagues, not this quickly at least."

Koehvan then proceeded to turn back around and catch up to the dwarf Kerazt had referenced, and pulled back his hood. Speaking in the dwarf's native tongue, he introduced himself. [My most sincere apologies, I think we started out on the wrong foot there. My name's Koehvan Pyemar, and I couldn't help but notice we are both interested in taking up the job the reverend had offered.] After this introduction, he stuck out his hand, and shook the dwarf's heartily.

OOC: Sorry to correct you, but it's Koehvan, not Koevahn. (if we get really gritty koh-IH-vahn would be the pronounciation I imagine) since we're doing {Sylvan/Elven stuff} I can imagine doing [Dwarven/other similar languages] as well?

Jevin ignores the rain, allowing it to run off of his plating in rivulets. The warforged walks up to the church, taking in the line of people looking to enter to hear the sermon. His eyes quickly flash as he allows himself a brief chuckle at the situation before him. How appropriate for people to be seeking shelter from rain in the church of a sun deity...They will thank Pelor for being dry, when it's their own actions that get them out from the rain.

He continues up to the temple and inquires the nearest guard of the location of the priest Graystone, though calmly so that the weapon-bedecked construct does not unintentionally provoke a confrontation.
"Where may I find Graystone? I have business with the man. I have completed the task for which I was contracted."

Ruin accepted the medallion with a slight bow of thanks. It was better to show a little subservience, she thought, than to be rude. Really, this was from years of living in a tightly, almost cast-like microcosm. Out here in the world she was still somewhat unsure as how to express proper respect. Back in the temple, one could easily tell a superior from their dress and mannerisms but out in the world it was somewhat more difficult. She was still rather embarrassed by the instance when she knelt in respect after her first monetary transaction for a bedroll. In the temple, such a thing would be expected. She had to admit, though, she did not entirely mind the new set of social rules to learn.

Turning to the centaur, having gathered that the common tongue was not her strong suit, she instead addressed her in the language of the elves. {Greetings. It seems we will be together on this excursion. I am one who goes by the name of} Ruin. {How is it that you wish for me to address you?} Hyloe would likely find Ruin’s speech to be very formal. It was what could be expected when one learned a language entirely from books rather than actual practice and implementation. As such, she was not very well versed with the more colloquial forms of the language and likely came off more stiff than she intended. Then again, any stiffness would be more than none in that equation. Hopefully, the paladin’s gentle expression would go a long way in dissuading any potential miscommunication.

Oh dear, he can speak a proper language. This so embarrassing... At least, she reasons, this job offer wasn't rescinded the moment they saw how young she was, so it's best to just keep calm and nod along.

Hyloe rests a hand on her brown withers and flicks her black tail about in agitation after the explanation. Until the paladin speaks up in a proper language too! The longer Ruin talks in elven, however formal, the more relieved the centaur looks until she's ready to clasp the young paladin's gauntlets.

{"Ah, Hyloe! You may call me Hyloe, oh cultured one! Ah, mercy, my common is not very good, so this is indeed lucky!"} She heads out of the building with her new alley in tow, though the dark bodied centaur has to keep an eye out where she's going. {"Good thing we'll be on the road, no? I don't see how humanity can stand to be in such a crowded place, as interesting as they seem. I'm a bard, you know, so while it became necessary for my storytelling curiosity to come to this place, it hasn't been the easiest of times, as you can imagine."} she continues pleasantly, as if she and Ruin were old acquaintances.

"Useless saying. I can tell an owl from a fox in the dark just fine. And you can go if you want, but as I told him, it actually would be bad form to attend another god's religious services. Much like how I don't go attend the services of the gods of the Seldarine." He sighs. "I know, I know, diplomacy and all that, but really. You can tell me about it later."

Derf. For some reason I kept thinking there was an h in there.
It amuses me that the saying is basically nonsensical to Kerazt, since drow can see in the dark.

Actually, the paladin had elected not to tramp around fully clad in armor. That tended to send a message of warlike intent and with the recent damage done to the area from the ravages of war, it was just a kindess not to remind them of loved ones lost. That and walking around in a heavy suit of metal got really uncomfortable by noontime in the city. All the buildings blocked the wind so it was a little harder to cool off than on the road. Of course, there were plenty of good reasons that one would wear armor a lot more when traveling anyway. It was sad fact of life though but one that had to be accepted.

The sudden familiarity did take Ruin off guard but she was not displeased by it. {"I do not know. Even a place like this is more open than the place I once called home. I suppose it is subjective. However, I must agree that the openness of the free road is indeed an appealing prospect"} the paladin said, keeping pace as best she could. Hyloe did have a two leg advantage on her after all. Not that she minded the excersize. It was always nice to walk, really. {"But I believe some of your troubles have vanished. If you need the aid, I will gladly facilitate any boundaries that communication in my native tongue would otherwise bring you should you accept such an offer. Though I feel I am acting somewhat bold in offering such a thing."} Ruin said, just barely avoiding a patch of... Well, she did not gain a proper look at it but she was rather glad she did not step in whatever it was.

The temple was likely not very far away and by the time the centaur had replied to Ruin's offer, they would be there if not at least within sight of it. {"You are a bard, you say? I should like to hear of your tales gatherd so far myself. And do not spare the embelishments"} the paladin said with a smile.

The Guard looks at you, and smiles. He takes his helmet off, and his form warps into that of a Warforged, before he puts it back on, disguising himself as a Human once more. "Hello Brother. Jevin is clearly surprised by the revelation of the guard as a fellow warforged. However, he is slightly concerned by whatever factors might lead to a need for this fellow to be disguised as a regular human. He places a friendly hand on the guard's shoulder, saying "Thank you, friend, for your aid. Doubly so in helping me to expedite my business here with Graystone. I think I'll take your advice. I certainly hope they are treating you well here. I know that those of us with skills can do our work elsewhere, where we need not hide who or what we are."

He briefly bows and turns to leave and go into the temple's sanctuary area. Once he enters, he will remain in the back of the room standing against the wall. He will stay respectfully silent while the service continues, awaiting his opportunity to approach the priest. If possible, he will grab a prayerbook and quietly leaf through it as something to do while he waits for the sermon to be finished.

The centaur skips a step, and would have run a circle around Ruin if there was any damn room on these city roads.. and if she hadn't been explicitly told by her former dwarven mentor that it's not proper in walled cities. {"Ah! It's indeed a lucky day! I would be honored and delighted, Ruin! I don't know what it is about speaking common; I can read anything I can speak and yet putting it into spoken word... Ah, mon dieu, but it is behind me. Though I am curious, would there be any others joining us to join arms in protecting the caravan?"}

Hyloe, as inexperienced as she is with human interaction, manages to slightly slow her pace for Ruin's benefit by the time the temple of the Sun is within sight. She tries fitting in through the doors to the temple, hopefuly without incident as even young as she is, she's been taller than any human man she's passed. It's starting to get embarrassing, but she doesn't mention it.

{"Ah, but to answer you, I am mostly possessed of lore and stories of my people; they're very dear to me, but concerning the legends of the other races, I wish to not be as lacking as I am now. I mostly know things I imagine your children and youths already know, but little of things less simple. It is sensible to come to these parts then, no?"} she lowers her voice when hoof taps against the stones of there temple foyer, trying to maintain some sense of reverence while looking for whoever looks like the holiest and most leader like amongst the humans.

Entering the temple, Ruin dropped into a hushed tone that seemed to emphasize that raw, raspy part of her voice. This was something she was more used to at least. {"I am unsure as to the prospect of others although there might be a good chance that we will be alone. Judging by the levity placed upon this task, it may be that our given task is simply a formality. However, I would not be surprised if there are others waiting elsewhere."} she said as she sought out the nearest clergyman. They would likely be able to point out Reverend Graystone in short order. Better to be introduced by a member of rank and merit than to simply walk right up and start asking questions. At least, that would be the proper decorum in a jassite temple. {"I believe you have the correct assumption that to find human knowladge, one must visit human lands. Though, perhaps I might be of aid to you in that respect as well."} Ruin said.

Upon locating a priest (or priestess) of station, Ruin will first bow, arms held out to the side with palms up, at the waist only at a total angle of fourty-five degrees and hold the position for two full beats before returning to a straight posture with hands folded before her. This was the customary jassite greeting to a member of another faith. The showing of the hands was a particularly importaint gesture as, for some reason, there was occasionally a bit of mistrust between jassites and members of other faiths. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that the Ruby Sorceress preferred the dagger as her and her follower's weapon of choice. Subtle, yet it could make a very pointed statement when necessary. "Greetings to you, Follower of the Sun. I wish to inquire as to the whereabouts of Reverend Graystone. Is he avalible for consultation?"

The second paragraph is more or less a bit of a pre-emptive jump upon the coming reply. Feel free to render it null and void should it interfere with anything.

Kerazt sits down to meditate, and mutters darkly about the sunlight that's hurting his eyes and making it difficult to keep his concentration. He snorts and decides that if one must engage in heresy, one must do it right, and stalks into the temple before the services start and it gets too crowded. He goes to the most likely seeming place and looks up at it.

"Hey, human sun god, the sun hurts my eyes. Please turn it off."

Koehvan quietly sat down next to the hyperactive and excited dwarf. Though he didn't particularly enjoy or share the dwarf's excitement as openly, he didn't go to any length calming him down, yet. When Kerazt went up and pretty much made fun of a generally well-intentioned deity, however, Koehvan decided it was time for a little fun. "Sorry to interrupt, Falias, but you might want to watch the following."

After having said this, he went through some intricate hand gestures and said something eccentric, and motioned at Kerazt with a peculiar kind of smile. The result of this magic is that Kerazt's nose lit up brightly, as if the sun shone out of his nose. Though it didn't actually shine as bright as the sun, the change in color was noticeably different to all who observed, except himself unless he looked cross-eyed, which he had no reason to do. Koehvan noted the painting of his friend's nose, and chuckled under his breath, no doubt the followers would see it as a mockery by the God himself, but he knew better.

Casting Prestidigitation to paint Kerazt's nose bright yellow/white, rather than the suggested (and also funny) blue.

Kerazt winces, blinded, and rounds on Koevan as soon as he can see again.

"We are companions, Koevan, but I do not suffer stupidity nor attempts to cause me harm. Undo it, now."

If Koevan doesn't comply, he holds his mask against his face tightly to avoid the annoyance of light. Regardless of the outcome, he sticks out his hand and mutters a quiet prayer.

"Masked Lord, avenge me."

Suddenly, Koevan feels rather damp as a gallon or so of water suddenly fills his underwear.

"Koevan! I thought you'd had that looked at! Come now, and in a church as well!" He smirks wickedly and winks while making a tsking noise.

"Companions we are, Kerazt. But I won't stand for you behaving this way, in the presence of people we don't want to be our enemies." Koehvan stood up then, as Kerazt identified him, and felt what he was going to do before he did it, quickly covering it up by closing his cloak around him, no letting it touch the now-soiled area. Contrary to what other might expect, Koehvan smiled a friendly and warm smile, with a rather mischievous look in his eyes.

Completely ignoring the comment about his hidden soiled breeches, he felt the magic of his past spell hadn't yet worn out, and in return of the action Kerazt performed, he soiled the area under his friend's armpits, creating the illusion of him sweating, possibly because of fear. In conjunction with this, Koehvan walked up to his friend, and spoke slowly and deliberately. "{I think you have offended enough people today. How about we call a truce, and we wait outside for the sermon to end.} You have experienced my magic before, and I hope I mustn't remind you it can be rather unpleasant."

He looked at Kerazt in a friendly manner. They were still friends, and despite both of their exquisite personalities, they liked each other. After a short pause, Koehvan added, {in addition, we can both use our magic for better purposes.}

Using the hour-long duration of Prestidigitation, I soil two half-foot cubes of fabric under each of Kerazt's armpits, after which I (if possible) dry the fabric of my own clothes.

The Temples of Pelor are known to be humble. As the place of Worship to the God of Healing and Safety, one would know for a fact that Pelor's Temples are warm, inviting, and greeting. However... it looks like they misinterpreted.

The interior of the temple looks like something out of a Temple of Hextor. The walls are dark, and heavy ridges form on them, stretching from the floor to the ceiling. There are two doors with images of Demonic visages on the wall to your left, and one on the right. A dozen or so pews, with almost two dozen patrons sitting in them, stand between you and the preacher at the Altar. A man looks like he was just interrupted in the middle of a sermon, and looks at you. He is dark-skinned, with stark gray hair. From his forehead sprouts two horns, and his eyes look like flames. Near the altar, a large mastiff raises its head in surprise. The man looks angered, and shouts at the... five of you!? "Servants of Pelor, kill them! Kill them for the Sun Conquerer!"

It slowly dawns on you... the man is Reverend Marcus Graystone.

Koehvan had seen temples of Pelor before, but this was nothing the other temples. It seemed to him to be like the very idea that this temple was devoted to Pelor sent shiver down his spine. Marcus Graystone was this strange man, commanding an army to vanquish us? We just accepted his job offer, now he wants to kill us? What is this? All these thoughts raced through Koehvan's head as he looked at the ongoing scene, unsure of what to do.

Kerazt shrugs, not particularly surprised. He'd do the same thing himself, honestly. This temple was *so* overdone, however, not at all like the tasteful shrines of his own dark faith. More like one of the Spider Bimbo's overly gaudy temples. Tsk.

He had expected boredom or an otherwise uneventful sermon, followed by the completion of his business, but never something that would result in an attempt on his life. This was certainly an unexpected turn of events. Ruin was taken quite aback at this very sudden turn of events to say the least although she could say that today had just become a bad day to choose to not wear one's armor. And here she had hoped for a few days rest from the road. But now was not the time for lamentaton. Keeping close to Hyloe, the paladin adopted a defensive stance as best the time permitting would allow her. She also had no quips to throw as she had quite suddenly become more focused upon preservation due to the fact that she lacked both arms and armor at the moment. Really, the whole thing was just terribly unlucky.

One look at the horned, flaming dark priest and she knows trouble's brewing. Automatically trusting Ruin in this prelude to battle, she draws her longsword, dwarf made with a diamond shaped hilt, and passes it to the paladin. {"Mon deiu! Here, take it--I've got something that'll take care of this~!"} she explains, her hand reaching back for a darkwood lance always kept close to hand. Her brother's hand me-down, even as old as the lance is, it's deadly in Hyloe's hands...

If the priest is within 20 feet, the action will target Graystone, otherwise it will target the mastiff.

Having moved into a position to help, Jevin will first look toward the others near him, saying "I don't know who you are, but if you stand against these, then know that I will stand with you." and then turn toward the mostly unarmed paladin "You seem to have been caught offguard, do you need any arms?"

Jevin draws his greatsword as he rushes forward to confront the evil that has revealed itself in what should (theoretically, anyway) be a place where good is dominant. He thinks wryly as he gets into position, Why couldn't this job go smooth? Church jobs never go smooth.

Upon arrival in front of the (now-fiendish) priest, Jevin visibly shifts into a fighting stance, one used to inspire others through boldness. He uses his swift action to active his Martial Spirit stance.

A few followers remain, as does Graystone. He screams out a word of power, and a ray of searing light comes from his hand, hitting Jevin in the chest. Koehvan's familiar managed to take a swipe at a civilian, nipping their ankle, and narrowly dodged being punched into the ground. Hyloe once again jams her lance into a man's chest, piercing through his ribcage. Ruin, unfortunately, swings wide and misses.

Jevin bellows in pain as he is struck by the rays of light. He holds some of the pain back, using it to fuel his righteous rage at the priest. Even more fully committed to the cause of ending these evildoers, Jevin steps forward to eliminate the final opponent between himself and the priest. For this one, he chooses an attack that would allow him to best shrug off the damage done to him by the spell.

Jevin moves forward to D10 and initiates Crusader's Strike against the enemy in front of him.
Attack: [roll0] (Now gains bonus from Furious Counterstrike)

If it hits, Jevin heals himself for [roll2] plus 2 more from his stance.

At the end of his action, he keenly feels the remaining impact of the rays hitting him, doing their last bit of damage to him.

Maneuver Recovery: As no unexpended, withheld maneuvers are remaining, Jevin is granted 3 fresh ones. (1- CS, 2-WoB, 3- SB, 4- MH, 5-DtF). [roll3] [roll4] [roll5]

Jevin 14/38 (22/38 if the attack hit) AC 20 (19 FF, 11 Touch) DR 2/Adamantine

Hyloe presses the attack with Ruin, though the centaur is likely less intent on a merciful fight than staying alive due to her training coming from the need to survive. She once more rams her lance at the closest opponent, hoping the blow will put them down. She doesn't stop to think that she may be running low on room to fight, she just fights.

Four more fall to the ground; three dead, and one unconscious. Jevin feels the metals of his body regenerate slightly, as his victim falls to the ground. Graystone stands alone now, and he begins to shout, his words turning into a spell. Around him flashes a black light, and he stands in his spot, grinning wildly. "Come on then, fools! Feel the might of Pelor!"

Additionally, my RL group just got past this part today, and have nicknamed this version of Pelor, the Painlord.

Jevin's path is now free of obstacles to the priest, and as soon as his greatsword slices through his previous target, he advances. He had given multiple opportunities for this man to submit or surrender, now only his death will end it. Jevin has reached a point past fury, to the calm on the other side of that emotion. No shouting or yelling, he hopes that this will be done quickly. With the force of a mountain, he brings his sword down upon Graystone.

Jevin takes a 5ft step down to E11, adjacent to the priest and initiates his Mountain Hammer maneuver.

Hyloe would like to join in the defeat of Graystone (and teach him a lesson for nearly forcing her to face yet another dog) but the centaur's path is much more difficult terrain. Rather than risk trying to climb over anything she continues in her forward advance, aiming to lance the next cultist in her way and then move as forward as she can...

[roll0] Forgot about her bardic powers last time, now it's factored in again. [roll1]

The cultist infront of Ruin was one of the last. Hopefully, she would be able to drop this one quickly. With a twohanded swing, she brought the blade to bear against the cultist, still aiming to take down without any real physical damage.

Use Detect Evil ability.

Double move action either over the rough terrain or around it, whichever is needed I should have enough movement to make it with a double. Going from E5 to E10.

Hyloe charges forth and downs one of the last remaining townsfolk, as Ruin cuts down the last. Jevin swings his blade, and finds that it hits against an invisible sphere of force, but pushes even harder against it. It shatters, the sound of glass shattering and of Graystone's scream echoing throughout the citadel, signaling the end of the fight.

Having put Graystone down to the ground (assuming that is the case), Jevin prods the unmoving "priest of Pelor" with his greatsword. He rumbles "You should have stopped when I gave you the chance." He will then look to the other people in the room and dip a short bow in thanks for helping defeat these surprise attackers.

Kerazt holds still for a moment, looking and listening to make sure the group is alone, and his keen hearing betrays that they aren't. "Is everyone alright? Are any of you injured?" Ruin asked once the battle subsided. It would be terrible if someone had been grievously injured. It was hard to see everyone from her current angle but she would make rounds soon after anyway.

Now that she had time, she looked around to see how, if at all, the temple was different from the more... Well, the temples of Pelor she remembered at least.

Hyloe sniffs and paws at the floor with one of her forelegs, trying to navigate back over to Ruin. {Ah, I am fine, yes..."} she begins in elven, per usual, looking over at her other impromptu allies curiously. Maybe it best that we leave in a hurry, no?"}

"I've got to echo the above questions. What traitor, what gift. Also, I feel the need to point out that unless you come down, I'm going to start shooting at you. I don't have time for games. If you want something, say what it is and come get it. Don't just demand without explanation. You'd make a terrible thief." He reloads his hand crossbow and points it at the most likely-seeming point at the ceiling for the voice to have come from.

Suddenly skittish, Hyloe raises a few feet on her hind legs before she suddenly calms, stopping herself from screeching something in Sylvan. There is no knife in her leg, nor any sign she's been hurt. But she looks pretty spooked, and holding her lance out in defense, the young centaur backs up, trying to guess where the 'knife' came from...
