Sim City

So, my brother got Sim City 4 for a project, and he lets me play it. awesome. he installed it last night, and I played for a while. now, however, I can't run the game. when I have the disk in the drive and select Sim City from the program list on my computer, it brings up this picture, like it's about to run the game, and then the picture goes away and nothing happens. I'm not even getting an error message. what's wrong?

Also, we could use this thread to discuss Sim City in general.

Make sure the graphic card driver is up to date is my first guess. This was an issue on my desktop even though the computer was newer than the game.

The one thing they really dropped the ball on with SC4 was the inability to edit terrain at the regional level before you get started on individual cities. Fortunately, there's a third party program that does the job, though it's still tricky a bit.
