I would like to challenge the assertion in the text of the Bard ability, Inspire Competence, that one cannot use the ability to provide a bonus to Move Silently.

The SRD states, "Inspire Competence (Su)

A bard of 3rd level or higher with 6 or more ranks in a Perform skill can use his music or poetics to help an ally succeed at a task. The ally must be within 30 feet and able to see and hear the bard. The bard must also be able to see the ally.

The ally gets a +2 competence bonus on skill checks with a particular skill as long as he or she continues to hear the bard’s music. Certain uses of this ability are infeasible. The effect lasts as long as the bard concentrates, up to a maximum of 2 minutes. A bard can’t inspire competence in himself. Inspire competence is a mind-affecting ability. "

I disagree with the bit about certain uses being "infeasible." Mainly I believe using the ability to provide a bonus to Move Silently should be completely acceptable. The evidence I bring to the gamer court can be seen in the following youtube clip.

Perform (Mime) should give you an even higher bonus, when used to inspire competence to move silently

I get the feeling that no one actually clicked the link.

That's cause we're all too smart to follow a link to something on Youtube.

Assuming every link to Youtube is a RickRoll or something similar isn't necessarily smart, it's more like paranoia.

I clicked it. I personally have waited for somebody in the party to have to make a Knowledge (Mathematics) check so my bard can sing this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ES-yKOYaXq0).

The real reason my bards take Profession: Astronomer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JdWlSF195Y&feature=related) (has nothing to do with Sublime Chord entry prereqs).
