View Full Version : Statting classes as Pokemon

An idea dawned on me, playing Pokemon (yellow, if you want to know). How good would it be to edit the game (with various editors), to make the pokemon into character classes?
Stuff like;
Barbarian
-Bear Warrior
--Frenzied Berserker

or

Wizard
-Incantatrix

You get the idea.

With elements like:
Nature
Arcane
Divine
Sneak
Physical
Psionic
Soul
...
(Ranger is Nature/Physical. Druid is Nature. Wizard is Arcane. Spellthief is Arcane/Sneak. Goes on and on and on.)

The plan is to populate the Yellow (or Red/Blue) with 150 classes of different kinds (it WILL be hard), with moves around the number of moves in normal Pokemon games.

So, would it work? Any suggestions on improvements?

Also, does this belong here, or Gaming (other) ?

This is an interesting idea, but the first thing that comes to mind is making 4e classes into Pokemon though :smalltongue: Start with class, choose "attacks" as you level gain new attacks, or trade in, then at specific levels, "evolve" into the paragon paths and such.

What would you do for attacks and abilities of the pokemon with 3e classes?

Peace,

Barbarian:
Power Attack (Low accuracy high damage)
Charge (high damage with damage to self)
Intimidate (Paralyzes enemy)
Rage (heals a bit, +attack for a couple turns, confused afterwards)
Damage Resistance (defense++)
Trap Sense (evasion++)

After evolving:
Frenzy (Rage with more of everything)
Superior Power Attack (Power Attack with more damage, less PP)
Shocktrooper (high damage high accuracy, gets critted by next attack)

Wizard is self explaining (way too many spells)


Rogue:
Trap Sense (evasion++)
Evasion (Evades next attack)
Hide (Evasion is boosted alot for 1 round, double damage next round)
Sneak Attack (Can be done after Hide only, high damage, high accuracy)
Uncanny Dodge (speed++)
Use Magic Device (basically, Metronome)

evolve into Assassin

Death Attack (low accuracy, one hit KO)
Sleep (self-explaining)
Misdirection (confuses enemy)
Poison (Duh.)

The list can be extended. Stuff can be reused (like PA for Fighter, UMD for Bard, SA for Spellthief)

Also, I'm planning to edit Yellow, so no abilities.
