S.A.I.N.T.

Society of Assassins, Infiltrators, Ninja, and Terrorists

In the crime riddled town of Riverside, there is an old fashioned, out of date, public phone booth. They say those who enter the booth and punch in the correct numbers are suddenly whisked away down a fast moving elevator, before arriving with a ding at the secret base underneath. A base that sits in a massive underground cavern of no particular interest.

The base itself, seems to have been pulled from a secret agent movie. There's a briefing room, a head office, a big old screen for giant heads to talk out of, a gadget based workshop, and even a training room basically ripped straight out of the X-Men's Danger Room.

This is a place full of murderers, psychopaths, and terrorists, looking to please you.

Membership & Contract Guidelines

To become a member, one must prove their competence or worth in a test of value. They may do this in any fashion they like. It is open-ended. A membership form must also be filled out and given to Anya or another vouching member.
Under no circumstances may members attack other members within the confines of the guild. Doing so may be considered as grounds for dismissal. What you do outside of the guild, however, is your own business, but is probably going to be looked down upon.
Likewise, purposefully interfering with another member's work on a contract will also be punished.
Loiterers and mooches will not be tolerated. SAINT doesn't expect you to go out on every contract, but we do expect some attempt at contributing, even if it's just brewing new poisons, creating gadgets, or training with others. This rule is laxed during dry spells with no or little contracts.
Contracts will not be accepted against members of SAINT.
You may not become a member of SAINT to avoid an already existing contract.
Contracts usually are for assassinations of a particular target, but may also include infiltration, spywork, terrorist attacks, and other similar black-ops. Contracts are not for house sitting or walking your dog.
SAINT does not accept money as an acceptable exchange for the taking of contracts. For lower end jobs, favors are considered the least payment. Usually the person wishing to contract with SAINT must offer something of value. Be it an item of power that they possess, or some of their memories, or emotions, or even giving up part of their own power.
Payment must be in full and up front.
Once a contract is accepted, it will be considered in force until one of two things occur. Either the contract is completed, such as via the target's death, or until the person who made the contract voids it. Otherwise, so long as the person lives, attempts will be made on that person's life.
No refunds will ever be given barring something occurring that makes the contract absolutely impossible to complete. The completion of the contract by someone other than SAINT is not grounds for a refund.
No duration or time limit will be enforced on contracts.
Not all contracts will be accepted. If a mission seems too dangerous or the person hiring cannot provide enough information, SAINT reserves the right to turn you away. We will not take down entire organizations for you.
Members will be rewarded for completing contracts based on their desires. Those members who supported them, perhaps through providing information, or letting them borrow something, will likewise be rewarded. Teamwork is encouraged.
Revealing the source of a contract to anyone who is not a member of SAINT is strictly prohibited.
You have one hour upon entering SAINT with which you will not be attacked by SAINT members for the purposes of contract completion. This rule may be waived in the case of obvious abuse (leaving after an hour and returning immediately).
Former members may be allowed to rejoin on a case-by-case basis, with the permission of the headmaster, and only if they complete a contract as part of their competency test to do so.

OOC Notes & Rules

No destroying the place, or doing something to it that'll produce a similar effect (for example, no placing a massive time freeze on the entire area forever), unless it's part of an epic plot, and you've run it through me. You're allowed to damage it, but destroying it just takes the fun out of it for all the other players.
No godmoding/godmodding. The occasional mishap's OK, repeated offense isn't.
Please try and keep posts longer than one or two lines of speech. Description is appreciated. One-or-two-liners that don't do much are OK once in a while - but not regularly.
If you want random smashy hahaN00BlulzFun, here's not the place. Anything spammy, random, or just plain annoying, can go! Of course, if your silliness is in moderation and well-roleplayed, and considerate of other players, then welcome in.
Romance/Fanservice is acceptable here, but remember to curtain once it goes past the snuggling stage.
SAINT is something of a secret to everyone. In other words, while the general public remains largely unaware of it, almost anyone with shady connections or informants, questionable morals, or allies with questionable morals, knows about the place. Where it is, how to get there, and what it does. Don't let anything bar you from coming here. It's not hard to overhear one or two NPCs whispering too loudly about this place while in a tavern. PCs should have no trouble getting here.
That said, the elevator and phone booth that brings you to the base resizes for those of... extraordinary girth and size.

The Building

Main Room - That big thing in the middle that everyone flocks to and ignores the entire rest of the base.
Bedrooms - We got em. You can use them.
Briefing Room - Fancy Chairs. Fancy Table. Big old fancy projection screen. Even fancier hologram display imagery.
Anya's Office - She has her own office. For paperwork and stuff.
Kitchen - Food is here.
Alchemist's closet - Poisons are kept here. Try not to confuse the iocane powder for sugar. Walk in closet with a small lab table and equipment for brewing poisons at the end.
Privacy Rooms - For meetings with clients that want security with their conversations. Anti-scrying, magic, and pretty much everything else.
Training Room - Professor X would be ashamed if he knew what the Danger Room was really being used for.
Garage - There are a few tricked out cars for loan to members. Any damages caused will be paid for by that member. Yes, there are tunnels leading back to the surface for driving, but taking the spy-car elevator is much more fun.
Vault - For storage of payments, collateral, or other objects of interest. Access is restricted.
Security Room - Cause sometimes someone decides they don't like you.
Armory - That poison has to go on something.
Infirmary - Filled with anti-toxins, but otherwise pretty basic.

The Cavern itself is large and open, with several secret tunnels leading to Riverside for escape purposes. A few tunnels branch off too, but what lies beyond them is something of a mystery as the maze that they lead to makes survival difficult.

Moneypenny
Name: Miss Moneypenny
Age: :smallannoyed: A lady doesn't tell.
Sex: female
Species: human
Specialization: Girl Henchfriday
Power Level: npc
Power Source: npc
Other Important Information: Moneypenny is an npc who can be played by anyone. Her loyalty to SAINT cannot be subverted, and she does not leave the base. She can approve applications and membership tests so long as she's not self-roleplayed by the player of the potential member. Attacking or killing Moneypenny in an attempt to prove membership capability results in automatic disqualification.

Personality: She somehow exudes a air of sexuality and stodginess at the same time. While she does engage in flirtatious banter, this will always remain low key and tasteful, and never lead to curtains. As a former naval officer, she has some combat training, which she can call upon if needed to defend herself.

In the dim light of the briefing room, Anya sat hunched in the chair at the front of the table in the briefing room, staring back at the silhouetted person that was displayed on the giant screen. Tapping her long bony fingers against the dark wood, she speaks in a grating screech that comprises her voice.

"Operations are prepared and ready to commence."
"Good. Our backers will be most pleased."
"Yes. Most convenient that."
"Don't look a gift horse in the mouth Anya."
"I'm all for forwarding our goals, but this unnerves me."
"You always worry too much. This will benefit the organization as a whole. Our backers believe in our cause."
"Hmm... if I could only hope as much. What of operation REG?"
"You know that's classified."
"Everything's classified. That's why I accepted this assignment. So I could stop playing with your cloak and daggers nonsense and actually get something done." :smallannoyed:
"You know we can't afford to act publicly yet."
"I know. I know. But these secrets kept from our own members? It'll be the death of us."
"Is that what your crystal balls said?"
"No. Woman's intuition."
"Ah."
"..."
"Unless there's anything else, commence operation SAINT."
"As you wish Comrade Y."
"Good luck Operative Anya."

The screen flicks off and starts to roll into the ceiling as the dimmed lights come back to full strength. Anya stands slowly, and heads out into a darkened base. Going to the fuse box, she flips a few switches and pulls a big old lever with more strength than should be attributed to an old lady such as herself. The generators whir to life, providing power to the rest of the base, other than the briefing room. Lights flicker on.

SAINT is now operational.

There is a rumbling from the elevator as it descends. It opens to reveal a figure clothed entirely in all-encompassing hooded robes, of an ambiguously dark colour.

The figure steps out and looks from left to right, slowly.

Reinholdt
2010-10-20, 06:55 PM
Ding! Welcome to SAINT! For all your holiness needs!
The elevator states as it reaches the bottom, also kindly announcing the persons presence to pretty much the whole of the base as it travels through the intercom.

Shortly thereafter, Anya comes hobbling out of her office and into the Main Room.

"Hmm...? What's this? Greetings sirrah." She gives the slightest curtsy, nearly imperceptible with her hunched over nature.
"To what do I owe the honor?"

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-20, 07:03 PM
The figure inclines it's head, but does not otherwise move.

Greetings to you. I come seeking admission to your organisation. May I inquire as to whom I'm speaking?

Reinholdt
2010-10-20, 07:08 PM
"I am the current head of SAINT, Anya Tzepesci. And you are?" Also the only one here! Guess the construction crew got paid and left.

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-20, 07:21 PM
If you will excuse me, I do not wish to reveal my true name at this juncture. One can never be fully certain of one's anonymity. I believe Alex will suffice for the time being. Greetings Anya Tzepesci

The figure extends a hand. The rope falls back to reveal a pristine bone white hand, elegantly shaped, with long black fingernails

Reinholdt
2010-10-20, 07:28 PM
Oh geeze. Here starts the wave of Alexeseses again.
Anya will gladly take his hand and shake if that is his intention.

"I suppose that is your prerogative. Do you need an explanation as to how things are done around here, or would you prefer a tape that explains it all for me and saves my throat? The tape self-destructs after being listened to mind you."

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-20, 07:35 PM
Alex pauses for a moment

If it is no great hinderance, I would prefer to hear an explanation from yourself. Explosions are ... not particularly to my taste.

Alex's voice is very smooth, and lacks inflection or a discernable accent.

Reinholdt
2010-10-20, 07:37 PM
"Who said anything 'bout explosives? It's a time release vial of acid that does it in." Anya shakes her head. As if explosions were the only way to destruct things.

She then goes into a long winded speech, explaining the rules and base as can be read in the first post. I won't repeat it here.

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-20, 07:46 PM
...

That is satisfactory. In what manner do you require me to demonstrate my worth? I have no particular preference

Alex still hasn't moved at all, other than the described motions

Reinholdt
2010-10-20, 07:54 PM
"Did you not hear me? Are you deaf? Listen to your elders! The test is open ended! You must show competency through your own talents, not through an arbitrary demand I put before you." Anya stares at him with her piercing blue eyes.

"If you acquire assistance in formulating a situation, the training room is useful for just that."

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-20, 08:06 PM
There is a mo,entary flicker of red from the hood

I apologise for mishearing. Although I would be surprised if you were my elder. As for the test. I am a skilled combatant, but perhaps a demonstration of my potential for infiltration would be best

There is a rippling noise, Alex's robes flutter, and shift to a shape Anya may find familiar. Alex draws back the hood, and Anya is confronted by an exact double of heelf.

Reinholdt
2010-10-20, 08:10 PM
Curse that handsome Heelf! I can't blame you for being a double of him though. :smalltongue:

"Hmm... speak."

Project_Mayhem

((Herself rather. I'm using my phone internet, and editing is very difficult))

Reinholdt

Was kidding silly. I knew what you meant. :smalltongue:

Anya waits for herself to speak.

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-20, 08:14 PM
Alexanya smiles

Like this, deary?

Alex's voice and body language mimics that which Anya has demonstrated so far very accurately

Reinholdt
2010-10-20, 08:17 PM
"Yes, that suffices. And don't call me deary you old hag." Anya pulls out a membership form from her robes and offers it to herself.

"Fill this out if you would."

Riverside Earlier Today, In Some Seedy Bar

Holy ****! You stabbed him! You just stabbed my best friend! Why the **** did you do that?!

Oh dear. Just another failure to properly communicate in the life of a Mr. What Pumpkin. For once it wasn't his fault, that drunk buffoon quite literally ran right into his knife. Unfortunately, when you've got a pumpkin for a head, words just don't come as easily as they should.

He's putting down the knife! Get him!

And even when he tries to apologize, things just seem to continue going horribly wrong for What. About eight or nine drunk goons rush at him, throwing him headfirst into the men's room amidst his frantic attempts to explain himself and the fact that he's just not in a stabbing mood right now, and that they should all seek death elsewhere.

Johnny, you go call the hospital! Rest of youse, don't let that freak get up! Yeah, how you like that, pumpkin-head? I'll show you what happens you stab one of the Ninth Street Knaves!

The one thing you can always count on in these sort of bathrooms is the graffiti, and What notices quite a bit of it as he wordlessly counts down from ten. One of them is rather peculiar, however, in that it goes beyond just a simple phone number, and specifies exactly which phone to use "for a good time". What mentally files this away for later, and just as the goons are starting to consider giving up on him and going back to their drinks, he counts down to zero.

**** HE'S GOT ANOTHER KNIFE! ****!

The men's room is briefly alight with screams, and then silent.

SAINT's HQ, NOW

A man with an orange tie, bloodstain-free suit, and bright orange pumpkin head takes the elevator down to the secret underground cavern. He's carrying what appears to be the bloody, sliced-up remains of a human being in a clear plastic bag, but gods if I know why.

Alex reforms. The process is rather grotesque. When the flesh finishes melding, Alex's face has become pale and androgynously beautiful. Elegant bony ridges replace hair. It's eyes are colourless.

Alex then forms a penlike bone from it's right sleeve, and rights in it's own blood

"Welcome to SAINT Alex. May your dagger find many gaps in the sternum."

Ding! Welcome to SAINT! For all your holiness needs!
"If you'll excuse me. Anya excuses herself. Alex is free to roam the base at will.

The pumpkin headed figures nods, and reaches into his suit very carefully, looking for the proper greeting blade. Gee, it sure is convenient that he doesn't have to introduce himself, that'd be so obscenely annoying. Seems like a pretty nice place, aside from being ridiculously ugly for a church.

Why is anyone keeping a church down here, anyways? And shouldn't What have better things to do than explore underground churches? :smallconfused:

A bald-headed woman was the third person who had found this particular place of seedy notice. She was dressed in plain clothes that looke a little grungy and carried with her a large duffle that seemed to be particularly heavy, judging from how the straps were straining. She had obtained an interesting tidbit of information from a rather unscrupulous source that was more in line to what she was used to. Having a part time job at some idiotic shop that only sold black clothes and played bad music was not her ideal form of survival but it was the only company that would hire someone who had a forked tongue in the area. Equal opportunity be damned.

She hadn't noticed a 'No Smoking' sign in the area so she quickly lit up a paper death stick and let the smoke curl upwards as she took a quick puff. If someone here didn't like the smell of niccotine, they would just have to deal for a second.

The woman did think the decor was a bit on the overly dramatic side. Being a pragmatist, she was perfectly entitled to such an opinion.

Reinholdt

"Err..." Silent types. Why do assassins always have to be the silent types? :smallannoyed:

"I mean to say, why are you here? Do you wish to join SAINT, or are you here to illicit a contract with us?"

Ding! Welcome to SAINT! For all your holiness needs!
Oh that's going to get annoying before long.
"Greetings. I will be with you in a second, or you may speak to Alex if you wish." Anya motions to the androgynous vampire beside her.

Apparently this one simply needed a prompt before speaking as it had seemed previously that Anya was otherwise occupied. "Is that thing gonna go off every time?" the woman asked, motioning to the ceiling with a thumb. "Yeah, I'm here to join up. Hear there's something of an assesment of abilities so I brought some relevent gear with me in case I needed it. Is there any need for a personal interview or paperwork that I can get out of the way?" the woman asked in a slightly slangy accent. When she referred to 'gear' she lightly shrugged the sholder her duffel bag was hanging on to indicate. Her green eyes definitely had a hardened look to them, thus indicating that she was either a harsh cynic or someone with an applicable background to such work.

Both was also a very probable answer as well.

Lord Magtok
2010-10-20, 09:25 PM
Oh jeez, that question is so complicated it's ridiculous. There's no way What has enough blood in that bag to spell out an answer, and it's going to take forever to clean this glove...but he might as well try, right? Besides, that mention of a contract suddenly makes the place sound a lot less churchy, and a lot more of the sort of interesting mystery you can't solve by knifing everyone you see.

Anyways, What reaches into his bag, and dips a finger in some dead guy's throat. He then puts down the bag and holds his other hand out towards the paperwork, trying to get it across that he needs something to write on.

Reinholdt
2010-10-20, 09:34 PM
Anya raises an eyebrow at What, but hands him a membership form.
"If you wish to join, fill this out and then do something to show that you're competent at what you do. We have a training room with various realistic holograms and situations that can be set up if required." She eyes the bag. "Though in your case, I think that requirement has been fulfilled." It's a good thing she doesn't get sick easily.

She nods at the woman and hands her a form as well to get the paperwork out of the way. "The same for you. Initiation tapes will be provided to you both."

Ding! Welcome to SAINT! For all your holiness needs!
Hey! No! Bad narrator! That's Reinholdt's job!
While the narrator is busy being berated, the elevator comes to a rumbling halt, opening out into the main base. Smoke, thin and gray and smelling vaguely like lemons blooms out of the elevator, billowing dramatically and fading to reveal... nothing.
...
Oh wait, sorry, the narrator was mistaken. There's a rock in the elevator. My bad. The rock wishes to join SAINT.

The woman borrows a pen from where she could find one and sits down to fill out the bit of paper. It was kind of annoying, actually, not being able to simply jack into the local network and uploading the data that way. Speed of thought was magnitudes faster than this. But, sadly, that was not applicable at this moment. Of course, this did not stop her from attempting to detect if there even was a wireless network availible at least. Some sort of link would be appreciable.

Name: 'Ghoul'
Age: 38
Sex: Female
Species: Muse (Human subspecies)
Specialization: Team management, Infiltration and Aquisition, Single and Multiple Target Elimination.
Power Level: Variable.
Power Source: Cybernetics and Minor Genetic Enhancements
Other Important Information: Ex-substance abuser. Has quit most long before breaking into the mecenary career and only smokes out of habit. Heavily enhanced to the point that a third of her total body weight is from cybernetics. All enhancements are sub-dermal, however, so there is no outward tell that they are present unless the effect is actively seen. Calm and cool headed during a mission but displays bouts of anger and can be easily irked outside of combat. Such is a possible sign of post-truamatic stress.

It should be noted that while Ghoul appeared to be in her mid twenties than her later thirties, it should be mentioned it was just a side effect of one of the several useful little bugs swimming around her bloodstream.

((I'm assuming the sheets we fill out are abbreviated version of what the character fills out. Otherwise those last three entries would be terribly meta...))

Alex is now gliding around the base, having a look. As mentioned, its movement appears to be the absolute bare minimum required to do what it's doing. Its face is almost entirely neutral all the time.

Reinholdt

Depends on how you want to play it I suppose. Power Level would be the only one I see a real issue with and can be handwaved as abbreviated IC version of what was put down. You can do the same with the others if you wish.

*stabs KK's narrator* :smallannoyed:

Anya looks at the rock.
...
...
...
She'll attempt to pick up the rock, take out the membership forms from her robes, put the membership forms down on a table and put the rock on top.
Paperweight!

Turning back to Ghoul, she'll take the form back, looking it over for a bit and nodding. "And how would you prefer to demonstrate your competence?" This is like... an IC way to show off! Or something.

Ashen Lilies

The rock makes an excellent paperweight.

Meanwhile, a tiefling in a head-to-toe spycatsuit (with goggles!) attempts to sneaksneaksneak through the base.

*sneaksneaksneak*

Reinholdt
2010-10-21, 10:28 AM
That would be Anya's office. Which is, unsurprisingly... locked. There's a keypad next to the door, and a fingerprint scanner.

Which she's going to have to change to something else now that a shapeshifter has been hired.

Project_Mayhem
2010-10-21, 10:30 AM
Alex has already noticed this.

Does the sneakling have anything stopping scent or heartbeat? I'm assuming it's good enough to deal with normal human eyes and ears.

Ashen Lilies
2010-10-21, 10:58 AM
The suit probably muffles his heartbeat and traps his scent, but not completely, given it's not totally airtight. As a note, he's not invisible. In fact, he's very visible. Kal's good, but not magic, after all.

Kal debates as to whether he should just pull put his iHack and set it on the electronic locks, but decides the old-fashioned way is better. He'll pull the cliche movie trick of throwing some foundation from his disguise gear onto the keypad and fingerprint scanner, which should stick to any leftover grease from Anya's fingerprints. Then he'll attempt to do that tape thing Kris never thought made any sense on the scanner, while tapping the number keys with fingerprints on them. Which Kris also thinks makes no sense. Sure, you know which keys to press, but how do you know what order to press them in!?
Shoulda just used the iHack.

... Probably to be a bit mean to say that Alex spots him unless he comes up to it then.

Reinholdt
2010-10-21, 11:09 AM
Reinholdt agrees that it makes no sense. And while I can buy getting past the fingerprint scanner that way, Kal fails at getting past the numberlock. Especially since a number or two was duplicated in the code specifically to prevent such shenanigans. And the fact that all the numbers are used. Beyond the fact there's no indication of which order to push them in.

I did in fact think of this part ahead of time. :smalltongue:

What does happen is the alarm goes off!
Demon's are assaulting the sanctuary. Demons are assaulting the sanctuary. Repeat. Demons are assaulting the sanctuary.
... No the computer doesn't know who or what Kal is. It's just code. Sanctuary means Anya's office. Gates are for unwanted guests at the front door.

Anya herself sighs. One day and already this was happening? "If you'll pardon me sir, miss."
...
"Rock." It's the Nexus. Don't look at me that way.
*points at Terrance as proof*
Anya turns to head towards the briefing room, beyond which her office lies.

Ooh! Taking the threat literally, Alex transforms into a warform

Its robes are destroyed as bone armour and increased muscle mass double its size. After a swift but painful looking realignment of flesh and bone, Alex is left naked, covered in protruding plates of thick, spiked, and bloody bone. It's right hand is formed into a wicked long talon.

It heightens its smell, and sniffs the air.

Probably picking Kal up now.

Edit: Oh, and Alex has no genitals in this form. In case you wondered

Ashen Lilies
2010-10-21, 11:17 AM
Kal shakes his fist at the alarm for getting it wrong (Devil! Not Demon! :smallmad:), facepalms, brushes the foundation off the locks, and flees! In a suitably sneaky manner of course. So much for his plan of directly entering himself into the member database. I guess he'll have to prove himself by killing a bunch of NPCs like everybody else.

Reinholdt
2010-10-21, 11:20 AM
He could steal a getaway car. Or break into the vault. Or I dunno.
*shrugs*

Anya arrives! She doesn't move very swiftly. Perhaps moreso than her frame would indicate, but certainly not fast enough to easily catch Kal, so hasn't spotted him as he scurries someplace else.
She tests the door to insure that it's locked. Hmmm... what if someone floated through? Well they shouldn't be able to and that wouldn't set off the alarms anyways...
She turns to head towards the security room instead.

Oh that reminds me. There is a wireless network for Ghoul, but it's not public. Need one of those WEPs.

Ashen Lilies

Ashen Lilies

A WEP code, eh? Well, having some ability in this field, she did a quick test of how the system handled the basic attacks. The sort like a DNS followed by an attempted injection. Of course, before such a 'hostile' action, she could still bounce a few packets off the network's passcode requirement to find out the number of bits in the actual password. If she was lucky, she could find out the hash code as well.

But back in the physical world, Ghoul gave the two newcomers a look that was vauge enough to just avoid becoming contemptuous. It lasted for only a moment before she returned her attention to Anya. "If it is all the same to you, I would suggest that a standard test of which I would not have any foreknowlege to be ideal for an accurate gauge of my prowess. While I know that such a thing would be rather out of the ordinary as I usually obtain all applicable information possible before engaging a mission, if it is a mesure of combat abilities you want, then that test would be the best choice." she said, keeping her tone level and calm. It was best to err on the side of polite when dealing with a potential employer. Professionalism and all that.

Ah. A telephone booth elevator. A cloaked figure surreptitiously enters. The black-skinned elf glances over the numbers with a scarred eye, putting a finger up to the pad.

...

And promptly realizes he doesn't know the secret combination. He wonders how all the other people who entered earlier knew. Merrak, for it is indeed him, curses in his native tongue, and walks out of the booth. Time to do it the drow way.

Keeping silent and stealthy enough to go unseen by any passerby who is not directly looking for him, Merrak scouts out Riverside and the area around it. His patience is trained, and so he doesn't grow bored in his task. Which is to find the other secret entrances to the underground base. Because the dark elf knows that there are always tunnels leading away from and to underground caverns. And no surface-dweller is going to trick a drow.

Merrak will hopefully find one of the tunnels. What no one really expects when planning their secret bases is the fact that exits and entrances are the same exact thing. In the drow's experience, anyway. With his luck, there's probably an impassible door or guardian. But maybe, just maybe, Merrak can sneak into the base.

[Dangerous Room]
"Fine fine. Everyone who's participating go down to the floor. Everyone who's not, stay up here in the control room."
She waits for that to happen and then speaks over the intercom.
"Here's the situation. You're all attending a dinner party with a variety of other guests. Each of you will have one target you need to assassinate. When all the targets are assassinated, you'll have succeeded. However, you'll all be in hologram disguises, so not immediately aware of who your teammates are. Furthermore, a sniper is watching the dinner party and his goal is to find each of you and shoot you, so you must be discreet. Windows make hiding from the sniper in a windowless room impossible. Disguises, nifty. Usually he either relied on not being seen by anyone or by simply being too bizarre-looking to get reported. That was all it took to get inside? Well, it was true that she had superior hardware but at the same time she expected more resistance. Perhaps she was more used a world of overtechnolisaion that simply was not present here.

With the passcode now in hand, she took to gauging what else the network had on it. Files and other information that might be useful and all.

All this might be a good reason why she was not saying so much in the physical world althought she did give a look at the shape-shifter. She truly doubted that such a thing was unkillable but she allowed for 'highly resistant' at least. Of course, how one would rid themselves of something was the question. Now, it might seem that Ghoul was plotting against Alex yet she was only following up on her typical threat-assesment excersises. She had been in more than one situation where an 'ally' was not who they claimed to be. That and having a plan for such an occasion was never a bad idea. Quite often, should one encounter a being of similar ability and aptitude, a 'backup plan' such as that came in handy for dealing with others as well.

Nonetheless, Ghoul would need a moment before she would be ready for the testing. Depending upon if the tests were on an individual basis or not would be a good tell of if she had the time or not to get ready. It would only take roughly five to ten minutes tops, though.

Anyways, Merrak makes it down to the bottom, where there's a garage of neat cars, a few other tunnels leading out that are likely not as trapped, and one Anya. "Most people just come down the elevator you know?"

[The Internets]
Doesn't hold a lot of useful files or info or connections to the base itself interesting enough. If Ghoul digs particularly deep, she'll note that may be because there's a separate, hidden network for that particular purpose. The network she's on is just to get to google and lolcats.

None of their disguises come with any of the cool equipment that might ordinarily come with such a thing. Despite the colours, they are still on the same team. In addition, at the dinner party is:

Red Scout

Red Demoman
Red Heavy

Blue Scout

Blue Pyro

What is given a small piece of paper with his target (Red Medic).

Ghoul took note of the network but decided it would be left for future study. As for getting ready, she decided that all she really needed at the moment would be her usual setup of firearms and tactical defense gear, specifically a heavily modified shotgun, a machine pistol, and a very tricked out tactical armor that seemed more of an enamel than an actual bit of defence gear. The duffel bag was still quite full, apparently amounting to an interesting bag of tricks, it seemed, and was left in a corner so as to be unobtrusive.

"Right, so we just need to eliminate the given target? No bonus points for finess or whatever?" Ghoul asked, making sure as to the terms. Because if it was that easy, then she could just chuck a grenade or two in the area and be done with it. Well, if these were actual targets she would but as that certain resource was running low at the moment, she would likely just shoot them. Or punch their faces in. Having subcutanious armor ment that she litteraly had fists made of steel... With a skin glove on top, of course.

Assuming that she sees the same thing that What sees, she decides to give What a short nod before looking at the windows to see if they were two-way devices, pulling out her spraycan-object as she does so. Well, if that was the case, then Ghoul would have to be quick with this 'coating.' Once she was sure there was nobody on the outside, checking by peering closely through the window, she would paint over the glass with a strange substance from the spraycan. It was an interesting little tool that allowed one to place an LCD screen upon any flat surface where it would remain for an hour before drying out completely and crusting away. She linked up to the screen so it would display to those outside a picture of an empty bathroom once she issued a certain command via wireless.

While she was here, she also took to locking each stall save for one. This would be rather importaint for later. Depending on the type of stall, she would either be able to twist the lock closed from the outside or have to take the route of crawling under each wall. Of course, she would make sure nobody was in the stalls before she began. Otherwise things would be rather messy very quickly.

Well if the Scout was gettng another drink and things had resumed their swing, Ghoul would pick up two glasses, slipping the chemical compound into the drink in her right hand as she did so. The alchohol would cover the mild taste of the additive although it was rather unlikely that the Scout would even be aware of the specific taste in the first place.

So, she made her way over to the Scout who was apparently trying to get another drink and offered the tainted drink to him while expressing general congradulations upon proformance. When the drink is imbibed, there would be no overt effects for a few minutes as it takes time to settle into the circulatory system. That done, the Scout would soon encouter a bit of 'digestive distress' and would likely head off into the direction of the restrooms, particularly the only open stall in the bathroom at that.

Well, if there was a rocket going off, then that would actually be a very nice distraction for what Ghoul had planned. She followed very closely behind the Scout just as soon she was sure he was not very focused on his surroundings due to the circumstances. Once he was in the end stall, Ghoul waited a moment before she triggered a nasty little toy she had built in, taking time to move into the blind spot in the bathroom before doing so. The creator of the device had called it a Phasic System and it did a remarkably good job at rendering one invisible to just about everything but contact matter disruption. This, however, came at a price as the thing generated quite a bit of heat and a normal person would have trouble staying with the device activated for more than half a minute at a time if they wished to avoid burning alive. This, however, was the secondary effect of the system as it's main use was to pass through blockades or other large bits of interposing matter.

So, in the short time she had, Ghoul pressed through the thin metal wall with little trouble aside from feeling the heat jump up a notch due to the light strain on the system. She had been conditioned to take temperatures much higher than a normal person, yes, but perspiration would be an odd sign and she didn't want to give the Snipers a reason to be suspicious. In any case, Ghoul positioned herself so that she could grab both the front and back of Scout's head and twist to the side vigorously in one solid motion. Snapping one's neck was the quietest option as there would only be a mildly loud pop and none of the burbling and gasping that came with slashing their windpipe. Not to mention it would be bloodless.

So, once in position, Ghoul fired up her cybernetic enhancements and dropped out of phase just before she attempted to snap Scout's pencil neck.

The man clad in robotic stealth armor (Scar), notes that a gnome is being serviced before him. He glares at the gnome but figures the witch handling the affairs occurring in the room should service it first, as he believes the gnome to be a pathetic creature who might keel over at any second, suited only for guarding gardens. Scar holds this view to all beings excluding himself. Each being is worthless in a different way. He is irked, somewhat, but he shows no signs of it, probably because his helmet blocks his death glare from the scrutiny of the world. He walks away from the witch a fair distance then holds his left wrist armor in front of him. A blue, holographic layout of the Nexus is projected in front of him. Red dots speckle the map. Strange code surrounds the red points, displaying statistics about the red zones. Abruptly, a shadowy figure replaces the world map. It is a black blur with no distinct shape.

"What is it you require, my apprentice?"

Scar asks the figure. Scar's voice is deep and hushed, so no others in the area should be able to hear it without superior hearing capability.

Yes, in a way. She can use shadows for travel. Walk in one, walk out another. So, she slipped into the one under the table, and took a look out of one on the wall so she could take aim.

Which means the rocket came right from a shadow on the wall. To others, it'd look like it phased through the wall.

Then she crawled back out from under the table.

A Rocket flies out of the wall and blows up Green Soldier. Snipers are certainly distracted, allowing What time to stab Red Medic and kill him. The great thing about drinks and blood is that they tend to blend well with red. The downside of course, is that Red Medic is likely to collapse on the ground and draw attention to What unless What does something.

The explosion also gives Ghoul time to enact her plan. Though Orange Scout turned his head due to the explosion, and noticed Ghoul, getting in a small yelp before his neck snapped. No one really noticed over the commotion out in the big room though and snipers can't hear inside anyways. So Ghoul successfully gets away with it.

The only part of this that seems to maybe not go without a hitch is Ivaz crawling out from under a table. It is most unusual to say the least. And I'll leave it up to Alex if Ivaz gets noticed and considered worthy of getting shot at. The table is in the same room as Green Soldier's guts, certainly.

With the deed completed, Ghoul set the body into a more 'natural' position so as to limit discovery and then phased quickly back through the same wall she entered. She took a moment at the sink to splash a little water on her face to cool off a little, drying with whatever towels were present. Just before she left, she paused at the door to pull out a ciggarett. It was a custom of hers after completing a succesful kill. Lighting it, she exhaled a puff of blue smoke and walked out into the now rather messy dinner party. She wasn't much for quips though. If she was, she would have likely said something along the lines of 'Sorry, but I was never really on your side to begin with.' or something silly like that.

With her work done, she casually made her way to the exit, making sure to avoid as much of the crowd as possible, acting as surprised as everyone else should the need arise.

However, if not, then the people in the viewing room would have to suffer the smell of burnt nicotine for a while. An interesting fact, though. Due to a few of the micromachines that ran around Ghoul's bloodstream, she didn't have the same smell of old ciggaretts as most smokers would thanks to a stellar cleansing system. Really, it was mainly aimed at speedy repair of tissue as well as an aid against poison and disease but one could always be happy for the perks. No weapons? Darn, magic users. Sorry, what was that you said? No, I'm not sure what a "civilian" is. Are they dangerous?

"It may seem clever, but not many people actually drop gloves accidentally. It makes you stand out."

Merrak has a longsword and a mace on his belt. Though he's not actually inspecting himself, of course.

*ding* Someone's in the elevator.

The person appears rather shapeless and indistinct. Assuming Anya approaches, the person speaks.

"Er, hello, do you have any henchperson or npc positions available?" the person says in a voice that gives no hint of their age or species or gender.

Did you have a sheltered childhood?

I believe that this is where Mortius is. He's a gnome with his skin pulled taut across his bones and glowing lights where his eyes should be. He's wrapped up in robes, but he's taken off his gloves. There's no visible weapons, but he's actually armed with at least six daggers hidden in his clothing and another two actually in his body, concealed behind stitches in his abdomen. Of course, those are incredibly unlikely to be seen.

The scarred drow shakes his head with the same blank and disinterested expression.

"I can't say I have. But despite the alcohol factor, most of the time gloves stay in your hand, or at least your pocket. Maybe dropping something that isn't so clichéd would have better results."

Merrak is good at seeing hidden things, though his sight is nonmagical and there's no chance of spotting the daggers hidden by stitches.

She can judge tests so that other members can control her to judge incoming members tests. Or run them. However they want. Magtok opens up the manila folder, and a ridiculous number of names and pictures of faces tumble out.

I've got a ridiculously large list of individuals who either want me dead, are ridiculously annoying, or who I believe would go splat in a funny way if pushed off the right cliff. A lich in purple military dress, Brendan and Ashna, this guy who shot a laser at me when I was in GLoG and looks like [Riv's description], Winslow Warwick, Gordon, Moff, Jack Empty, Rabbit, Dipsnig, Wenomir, and every single Exalted in the Nexus.

Winslow should simply be spied on and have his office ransacked a little, Gordon should have his eye cut out and mailed to WATCHTOWER, Moff should be tied to a chair and forced to listen to Mraz, Dip and Wendy should be soundly beaten but not killed.

Everyone else I just mentioned, however, is to be killed off in as ridiculous a manner as conceivably possible. If their players for whatever reason want the hit called off, it'll be called off. I can pay in robot minions, cybernetic augmentation, conventional currency, favors, a discount at MagMart, recommending your services to all my friends for their own extralegal stuff, and radioactive unicorn dolphins.

Miss Moneypenny starts taking notes on the potential contracts while Mistress Anya negotiates with the customer.

((For the OP. Rein, feel free to edit as needed:))

When Teb's program executes the entire room goes black for a second before turning a fuzzy green. It seems that Teb's program is being run completely in the dark. The target seems to be a man in a castle that is heavily fortified and heavily guarded.

Teb is standing on top of a cliff about 300 yards away. He pulls out a longbow, closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. He takes a knee and pulls the bow to its full length. He takes a few minutes aiming, seeming to remain nearly perfectly still. Then he fires, the arrow a near blur before it embeds itself within the target. Teb then stands up and walks out as the guards in the program start to go into a frenzy.

Alright, I'll look into specific Exalts in the future. As for the lich, I was hoping for a permanent curtain drop, and oh-gods-not-those-curtains. The news has been updated around 15 minutes ago. It summarizes the event with the title "Train Bombing Leaves Politician Dead". There were are no suspects yet though some sources blame the politician's rivals. Oddly enough, a military official was slain at the same time across the map via a collapsed air passage indicating "foul play" was involved reported in a subdivision of the main article.

Ghoul said with a smirk. She wasn't really that interested in the reward of power nor did she think this person had much to back up their claim. A lot of boast and bluster often went into self-importaint descriptions and she really doubted there was as much substance as there was flash. A very cynical outlook, yes, but one that had so far been quite accurate, even in the Nexus.

She didn't wait for an immediate answer, though, and left the viewing room so as to find Anya again to inqire about her quarters and other things. And to make those curtaining calls harder or something. Not that a group of paranoid killers would ever curtain with each other.
