First point I have not done anything harmful to anyone.

I just felt like posting this to vent, even just letting people know helps alot.
I don't really care if anyone answers, just that I let people know.

I've been supper stressed out as of late, combined with a cold, my body not liking how I live, and my slight mental problems (I am partly insane just not enough to be hospitalized/watched over and stuff like that, just enough to change my personality) and basically it's making school impossible. Just needed to get that out there to vent. If anyone else has this annoying little problem this might help you to!

Take some time off to get over the cold in the first instance  Being sick makes everything so much worse. Get yourself physically healthy and it'll make other things easier to handle.

Are you seeing a doctor/anyone else about your mental problems? 'cause if you aren't, you probably should

How is it making school impossible? Are you having trouble with motivation/getting things done? because I may be able to help with that. My husband has depression and motivation is a huge issue for him. I am used to being his 'get off your butt and get moving' device. I'm happy to give you the odd shove in the right direction as well

When you say 'school' is this high school or uni? Either way, can you talk to a lecturer/teacher and try and get some time off? Arrange to get extensions on assignments or have someone record lectures for you so you don't have to be there. Your health, physical and mental is more important. If you need to take time off school, then do it. A friend of mine got meningitis during uni, and she was off for a couple of months in the end. She still managed to catch up on the papers she missed and graduate on time. It is possible.

Hope you can start to feel better soon  *hugs*

First Thanks *Hugs back*

I literally took a week and a half off school not to long ago (highschool) and so my grades dropped a good 10 marks or so (I did catch up I'm very good at that) By making it impossible I just can't focus or remember how to do formulas and such (Not as bad this week, lots of skittles and sunny D helped)

My problems aren't severe that they'll impact me negatively but when you go through something like this they like to show, and usually either make me tired or violent (DND being a great release for the latter).

I'm not really sure what brought it no in the first place, well I have suspects but I doubt it was any of them. I'm hoping I can spend this weekend (and my next few history classes) sleeping, and regulating myself. (It's like 4am right now :smalltongue:) I just cannot for the life of me kep myself up after school so as to regulate how I sleep.

Seriously? I was so sure you were older than that... *shrugs* shows how much I know :smalltongue:

In class or when you're trying to study? In class, I would talk to your teachers, especially in the classes you're having the most trouble with and let them know. Ask them to keep an eye on you and gently nudge you if they see your attention/focus wandering off.

If when you're trying to study - take a minute or two to think about the things that make you lose focus while you're trying to work. Is it too quiet? get some music. Internet distracts you? Get rid of it while you're working. Or at least arrange some sort of block on the more distracting sites, if you need it for study. Make sure you've done everything else you need to do before you try to work (eat, shower/toilet, whatever else). I have found I work better in company. I got much more work done when I was with a friend, if that's an option for you.

Go to bed!

Have a look in the 'sleep' thread that's floating around here somewhere - you might find some ideas on how to get yourself to sleep and stay asleep at regular hours. That will have a huge impact on your ability to focus. This is one of the things I have to fight against with my husband's depression - he has awful sleeping patterns. An example. I woke up at 2:30am this morning, and got up to go drag him off the computer into bed. As is his wont, he decided to read for a bit to wind down. He didn't get to bed til at least 5am. I didn't check the time, but I have a good internal body clock, so it was definitely around 5am.

Work on your sleeping patterns - go to a doctor and ask to see a sleep specialist if you have to. But getting them in order will do wonders for everything else. You struggle staying up after you get home from school? What time do you usually get home?

No I am only 16. I'm just a different teen.

In class it's not that I can't focus I can listen and watch perfectly fine. It's that I cannot for teh life of me remember any of the formulas. (Not so much of a problem now group work and angry parents helps alot) Whats studying? (I never study, haven't failed a test yet)

Sleep is, harder to come by when you're me. Being a night creature, with teh worlds most wandering mind.

My doctor did at one point issue me sleeping peelz. They acted like caffiene.

I get home depending between 1:45pm and 2:45pm (Depends if I have a class last period or a spare) but having been up since 8pm the night before makes when I get home the perfect time to fall asleep. I hope to fix this aftr the halloween party friday. And fixing my dads truck saturday (a reason to stay awake)

Edit: Internet says I'm partially Bi-Polar... Whatever that is...

Bipolar disorder. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bipolar_disorder)

But it's hard to diagnose, and I don't think the Internet is a very good way to do so. Heck, I used to think I was Bipolar. Turns out it was ADHD (the symptoms are similar).

I think you should get another diagnose.

I used a mental health online test. I doubt it's accurate I am almost never sad. Mostly happy, weird, and violent. (Never a good combo when you're happy about being violently weird)

You can change your body clock surprisingly easily. You'll need to stay awake when you get home from school, or lie in bed all night from about 10pm until it's time to get ready for school. Once you've done one of those things once, keep going with a normal routine, and you should be on a better cycle in a week or less (everyone's different!). It takes a push to try, but it's worth doing for school.

What's your diet like? Because if it's all Sunny D and Skittles, I think I know what your problem is. :smalltongue:

On the mental problem... My dad is exactly like you described. It's just a variant of bi-polar. Talk to your doctor, I think taking lithium helps with the Manic episodes, and that variant is only manic no depression. Hope this helps!

I'm gonna second talking to a doctor and getting more sleep. It's freaking amazing what those two things can do for you.

Another second for finding a way to get sleep. Drink warm milk, take a sleeping pill, utilize some alternative medicine (but I'm Californian, of course I'm giving that advice). I have bad insomnia and depression, but I've been sleeping right and taking some of the advice I gave you and I've never been better.

I'm in college now, but near the end of high school, I broke down myself. Someone I loved deeply intentionally labored towards my destruction, and nearly succeeded. I narrowly avoided being institutionalized and still suffer from pretty terrible paranoia when I don't utilize what I have a license for. Though PTSD sucks, my life has been utterly turned around, and I know the same is possible for you. Hang in there! Gam zeh ya'avor! This, too, shall pass!

By "alternative medicine", Cahokia clearly means "eat a tryptophan-rich banana and turkey sandwich", because those make you sleepy really fast.

Of course. What did you think I meant? :smallconfused:

But Moon_Called is right, I hadn't thought of tryptophan-rich food. Have a Thanksgiving in minuscule, and your circadian clock will thank you.
