What do you think, would a Tibbit in cat form be able to use its Dragonfire Adept breath weapon?

Its a SU, so you should.

I know you can't use SLAs, which means that Tibbit Warlocks don't really work without spending feats, but there really is no reason why SU's shouldn't work in Alternate Forms.

Yes. Next question?

Detailed: Tibbit transformation references Polymorph (except as altered in the specific race writeup. It mentions nothing about changing class abilities,) which references Alter Self, which says

You retain all supernatural and spell-like special attacks and qualities of your normal form, except for those requiring a body part that the new form does not have (such as a mouth for a breath weapon or eyes for a gaze attack).

You keep all extraordinary special attacks and qualities derived from class levels, but you lose any from your normal form that are not derived from class levels.

The common house cat still has a mouth, and the breath weapon is derived from class and not race. So you can still use it, although the area may be changed by turning into a Tiny creature- I don't remember if DFA has different breath areas for larger/smaller creatures on its information.

Nope. No such verbage at all. Otherwise being a massive DFA would be a strong option, but its not.

No problem with the range either, it's based off class level not creature size.

Edit: ninja'd, also this actually makes DFA's better they smaller they are.

Thank-you all.

Which brings up my next question, how balanced is a Tibbit?

What is the smallest playable race with a reasonable level adjustment? I'm totally making use of this at some point.

Pretty much Tibbit, actually, in cat form. Tiny at 0 LA. Smaller than Tiny and you start running into creatures that need to be in swarms in order to be taken seriously (Diminuative and Fine respectively).

Jermlaine (MM2) and Muck Dweller (Serpent Kingdoms) are both tiny races with LA +0. Jermlaine's have a Con penalty (among other things), so Muck Dwellers are probably your best tiny option.

Hengeyokai also have a wide variety of tiny and diminuative animal forms. There's also the fine-sized Hengeyokai sparrow, although they make much better warlocks (they get a +14 bonus on ranged touch attacks at ECL 1). The LA +1 for Hengeyokai was removed in the errata in Dragon #318 (but oddly enough, not in the OA Web Errata).

Now, a Dragonfire Adept Flumph... hmmm... (Dungeon #118). Huh. They even start with a Con +2.

And who wouldn't want to write on their character sheet "Race: Muck Dweller"?

Bonus points if you are your own familiar.

Or maybe you're just insane and you think you are....

do those even have mouths? (And if-so, is it under them? the breath weapon could be used for jet propulsion maybe...)
